I really don’t understand why it takes 4 hours to buy a car. Especially since every single time I’ve gone to a dealer, I have known exactly what I wanted. I knew exactly what my tray was worth. I knew exactly what my credit score was, and I almost always have my own financing in hand, but it still takes four hours because the dealers are using that time to wear you down to get you to buy ad on warrantees, add-on bits, all needless the extras. ( door handle cup protectors? , I’ll just trim my nails thank you ) Anything they can to squeeze as much money out of you and then, of course you know all these extras get rolled into your payment like that supposed to make it feel better.

Don't ever buy any dealer installed accessories -> they charge arm and the leg for these. Never buy any extra "protections"package-> interior protection, paint protection, tire/wheel/glass protection, etc--> it's all scam! When u go over the long dealer print out of the vehicle price/options price--> make sure u read all lines where u see charges, make sure you agreed to pay for these things(I got a car and got bunch of extra "charges" added to my cars price in the fine print on that sales contract)

What's wrong with going to a car dealership and just wanting to look around? I can't ever seem to do that. As soon as I walk on the lot, the salepeople swarm me. How do you politely tell them to leave you alone and if you see something you like you will come find them? This doesn't waste the salesman's time and I don't feel pressured to make a decision.

25k at a 3% rate for 60months with tax and licensing will land at damn near exactly 500$. If the car was 29k, and you got it for 25k, then it is a good deal. The payment is just a reflection of the amount financed.

In 2015 I bought a brand new 2015 Honda Civic for $248/mo for 60 months. It was $21,000 MSRP however i got it for $19,000 bc it was a leftover (they were trying to make space for the 2016s). I put $3,000 down and financed $16,000. I managed to get 2% interest rate bc of my credit making my payments $248/mo. I paid my car off in 3 years instead of 5 by paying more then my monthly payment so i didn’t have to pay the interest. It is possible to finance a car for $250/mo just gotta go to the right dealership, and buy a car that’s not overly priced and have a down payment. My sales guy was great!

Walk in pre approved from your bank or another bank. Don't pay fees and don't buy the extras. Ask him to beat you financing. If he does, ask to see the buy rate. He will probably get mad. If he won't show, walk. He'll stop you and give you the buy rate, usually at least a point below what he told you.

@@greenshield1 what ls buy rate? The lowest the dealer can offer?
@greenshield1
@greenshield1 3 жыл бұрын
@@kennethsasser7844 the buy is the rate the dealer actually gets from the bank before they add their points. In short, yes, its the lowest for that particular bank at that moment. For example, the bank come back with 2.5 percent when the dealer runs it by the bank. The finance guy then comes to you and says I got 4.5 percent for you. The buy rate was 2.5, the dealer added points is 2 points. They will also tell the bank that you are offering 20% down, even of you are not. The bank will then give the dealer an even lower rate, the finance guy then comes back to you and says the bank is being tough but if you put 20 percent down they'll give you 5% ( in actuality the dealer got 1.9 from the bank as an example) they then try and force you to put money in to get a lower rate that they mark up even more and make even more. Finance guys are pure crooks, they lie like hell every time they open their mouths. Always ask the bu rate and to see it on paper. If they refuse, walk, they don't want to get caught screwing you.

I had a bad experience even with knowing the vehicle I wanted and pre-approved through my bank for it. I get there and the sales man told me they no longer had the vehicle. He completely gave me the run around. Even trying to get me to get a vehicle outside of my price range through a different finance company. Finally after EIGHT (8) HOURS, I was worn down and told him I’d just try again later. This man told m he wanted to look at one more vehicle. It was the SAME vehicle I went in and asked about that he told me had been sold!!!! Even after that, it took two weeks because I told my bank if they didn’t take all those fees off that I didn’t request, I didn’t want them to release the funds and I would park it back on their lot. I was so heartbroken after reflecting back on my experience but I really wanted that vehicle. The salesman didn’t have to do me like that. I still have the vehicle and I want a newer model, but I’m so afraid of going back to that dealership.

@@TheCoolDude1230 I had a horrible experience also. I went to a Toyota dealer in NJ and they were trying to push me into a lease when I told them 3 times I wanted to finance. They basically told me I wouldn’t be able to finance a new car anywhere for $250 a month so I left. I went to Honda and drove away that day in a brand new Honda Civic for $248/mo. Do you research and don’t settle for a bad deal or let the sales people push you into a deal you don’t want to make. Walk away and go someplace else. Come in with financing but let the dealer try and beat it. The end price of the car they will allow can be tied to the financing. You cut that off and you leave that portion on the table. It all works together. I always have the preapproved financing from my credit union and legitimately hope they beat it. Its far easier to do it all in one place. Trading in a car is a personal thing. You WILL get more privately, but it takes time, can be a hassle, etc. How much is the delta worth. Additionally, at dealers that don't negotiate on sale price, often the negotiation happens with the trade in. BTDT.

My last two leases with BMW it took me less than two hours total. About 1 hr to make a deal and I came back later on in the day the first time for 45 min to pick it up. The second lease was 1 hr to make a deal and about 1 hr to pick it up the next day. I would walk out of the dealership if they told me 4 hrs

Agree about the buying experience at BMW. It is so simple and almost nothing to really consider in the finance office that is offered but not pushed.

Biggest mistake buying a new car when your current isn't paid off and using it as a trade in.

As long as you owe less than its worth you have positive equity and can be used as a down payment. For example, i owe $8500 on my 2018. Its KBB is $19,500, if i traded it in, roughly, i already have a $10,000 down payment towards my next vehicle.

Not always. If you get a trade amount close to or more than the amount owed a trade in can often the a wise move. In most states the sales tax on the purchase of a new vehicle is reduced for the value of the trade. If the sales tax is 6 percent and the trade value is $10,000 the sales tax savings would be $600. Always the math.

@@peasantstimekeeper Not challenging you, trying to understand how using the $10,000 as a down payment for a different vehicle is a wiser financial decision than using $8500 of it to pay off the existing car loan, then the remaining $1500 as a down payment. Not paying off the balance of the existing loan means you are still wasting money unnecessarily paying interest on the original loan. Paying the loan off sooner means your overall cost of the original loan is less than if you continued paying on it, including the accruing interest, in turn actually spending money that could be used towards the next vehicle purchase, lowering that overall loan amount & final cost of your next purchase. What am I missing that makes what your describing a wiser financial decision?

It only takes that long if you don’t come in prepared. My mom bought a new Mazda 6 last month and was in and out in 2 hours because she came in looking at those cars, already set her budget, and had the money ready if she liked the car. And told the finance guy no to everything so she didn’t spend forever in there

Pre-negotiate before you step foot at a dealer. Took less than an hour to sign pre-negotiated docs to buy my Bullitt. We came in at 10:20 in the morning and were out shortly after 11. We had plenty of time for early lunch.

I just bought a c7 grand sport 3 weeks ago. Got exactly what I wanted (trade amount, financing terms, interest rate and vehicle price) and was only at the dealership for 73 minutes. 3-4 hours sounds excessive and I would not stay that long for a transaction that takes half of that.

Thanks to you I finally figured out why they put a Chick-fil-A in a Toyota dealership so the customers won't get hungry and when they are coming to get lunch one of the cars looks very interesting and they end up wanting to get it.

3 to 4 hours for a car deal?!?! That's crazy. I book my appointment and hour and a half apart. And, given they came on time, there is always enough time to close, have a smoke and be ready.

First, I do like your channel l, but Some of these tips sound more in favor of the sales person rather than the customer. Not sure I agree with that. I grew up on car lots with my dad, who sold cars for almost 50 years, and was extremely successful! He always put the customer first. He would work around their schedule not the other way around. Including staying late to make a delivery on Saturdays. Customers aren’t there for you, you’re there for the customer.

In Dec 69 and Jan 70, I started looking for a pickup. I walked in with a list of what I wanted and then we talk color. I wound up getting a C-10 that had been special-ordered the person didn't take that had almost everything I wanted for about $1750. It had 6.9 on the odometer. I sold it around 1990 with about 110K.

I made an appointment when the lease was up on my wife’s truck, we got there and the sales guy didn’t think it was important enough not to be with other customers at the time. No we did not do any further business with that dealership. (You can secure your own financing and have the bank handle a lease buyout 100% so you never have to even talk to the dealer. 99.5% of it can be done electronically and the last 2 signatures at the local notary)

Back in '97-2000 I was being asked to be a car salesman any time I went to look at a car or even when I went to one place to apply for the Porter position and the sales manager saw me handing in my application. He said, "you wanna sell cars?" Later years I decided to give it a try, and once they were explaining the 4 Square I knew why car sales had bad reputation and that I would Not be a car salesman on Principle.
