The FIRST thing I say to any salesperson is: "I may be looking today, but I always 'sleep on it' before I spend anything over $100, so if you try to force me into a deal today, I will drive away." The second thing I say is "before any deal is discussed, I need to find a vehicle I like, AND I need to feel I'm getting the best deal I can get...at any dealer that offers the BEST deal. If I don't feel I'm getting a good deal...i won't buy. (I DON'T 'buy on emotions'.) Third thing I say is "I've already checked the value of my trade vehicle, so I'll be evaluating any trade offer value carefully as well" (if I'm trading in). That usually changes their game. If they walk away, I just holler after them that "I guess I won't buy a vehicle at this dealership". Every word I've stayed above is true...for me, anyway.

Legislation is the only thing that will protect buyers and sellers. Asking people to self police in an industry that historically is crooked is beyond naive and spoken like your typical civics ignorant person.

Well. you have justified a $400 Doc Fee. How come the California Doc fee is $85, and 20 states are under $200? Anyone operating as a sole proprietorship or independent contractor often won't need a business license everyone else does.

I do my own oil changes because I don't trust the dealers to give me a new filter, or to fill the oil to the full line. IMO, businesses will cut corners in the name of profit.

So instead of the probabilities of only 1 of 8 valves going bad, you got all of them having a probability of going bad. Hearing horror stories of DFM engines under 10K miles going belly up. More moving parts, more parts to fail. What a nightmare.

Sir, if you’re still active on YT, can you tell me if I should negotiate the "doc fee?" And what about the destination charge listed on the Monroney sticker? Is that negotiable too? Thank you!!

Number one scam is to take your car in for service and a dealer will swap a broken part from another car to yours. If you are out of warranty, and either you are reporting the issue or not, they will swap a used part and charge you full boat. They will put your broken part on a car under warranty and that owner will have to come back for a repair. Else, they will keep paying that part forward and moving it from one car to the next, bilking each customer. This is one of the reasons people leave the dealership and say that their car was working fine before they showed up. This is why, when my cars are out of warranty, I do not take them to the dealership. When you go to a dealership, the chance that another 'donor' car is there is extremely high. If you go to a local repair shop, 'donor' cars are not as frequent.

I have a 2014 chevrolet equinox with the v6. Ive had zero issues with it after 4 years of ownership. Its called change your oil every 3k miles and your timing chain wont fail. People lack common sense on vehicle maintenance, i bought my equinox with 40k miles on it. I now have 110,000 and my car doesnt burn any oil.
