Y'know, I often watch and rewatch these videos and it's always interesting. So many of these kitchen gadgets were designed for disabilities, but not with actual disabilities in mind for some. Some work, but some seem more for show. Like the bagel slicer, or the condiment gun come to mind whenever I think "Who would this really benefit?" I'm always glad to see Dan bring up the criticism and what changes would be needed to make them more aiding. The whole left hand test being a test with oil or slippery hands helps show off some major issues, and it's always good to see someone try something other than constant control tests. I can't wait for the next vid, and see what gadgets really help, and what don't.

@toddellner5283
@toddellner5283 2 жыл бұрын
@@daltigoth3970 Hmm. That's not the definition I've been given by, among others, Alton Brown's spokescritter in an email. It was in response to a statement that "The only unitasker we allow in our kitchens are fire extinguishers." I mentioned that I couldn't make cheese or beer without a number of others, and the allowed as how yes, those were clearly exceptions to the rule. But that's a minor semantic thing. Point is, that there are some special-purpose tools which only do one thing but which no more general purpose tool can do; some of them are big and clunky. A bagel slicer just doesn't rise to that level of irreplaceability since a bread knife does the trick very well if you follow basic safety procedures.

Also the handle on mine operates with a squeeze motion rather than a push down for the actual juicing. Had a juice off with a friend who was pro hand juicer and not only was mine faster, I was able to get a greater yield and even more juice from their discards. Definitely converted my friend. I rly like how they always have control tests and usability tests because it shows how adapted the products are for people with low dexterity and even disabled people!

I easily see a use for the egg shell cracker. People with arthritis, tendinitis, stroke victims, it’s great for people whose dexterity and hand strength has been compromised in some way.

I am immensely impressed that you were able to shake it enough to scramble without the egg flying out of your hands when they were oiled tbh...

I was surprised too. But of you look really closely, I think you can see that he didn't actually scramble it, he just shook it like twice

I could see the eggshell cracker being good for someone who has to keep handling eggs while doing other stuff, and doesn't want to constantly wash their hands. Also, it's great for anyone who just can't quite get the knack of cracking eggs without getting shells in everything.

When l was a child we had a chromed crocodile nut cracker that was a thing of both wonder and terror. As a small child, there was always some trepidation and doubt, to whether it would be fingers or nuts being cracked. Was super excited to find one for sale a few decades back as, if you managed to keep fingers from being crushed in its tail, its mouth did a great job with the nuts.

FYI. It's better to crack eggs on a flat surface then on a rim of a bowl. Rim of the bowl can actually force shell into the egg.

Oh. My mom bought something pretty much just like the manual fruit juicer probably in the early 70s. I remember it from when I was a kid. It was just like that except no plastic and it wasn't rose gold.
The delivery rescued them
