I sometimes think a top 10 witcher characters video from you would be fun until I realize it would be so obvious that John Verdun would top the list so there´s no real mystery.

It brings me joy that despite I haven’t yet read any of the books, I made all of these Lore-Accurate choices in the game. I felt like the writers did a phenomenal job establishing just what kind of man Geralt is through his dialogue mannerisms and tidbits of backstory in the Witcher 3. This was enough for me to be confident in making these choices for him in game

What do you waiting for? Do it. If you wanna know more about Geralt and his friends, do it (Regis, Cahir, Melva, Dandelion, Angoulême, Cratch) more context about others characters like Yennefer, the best villain in the Witcher, Vigelforzt.

This is how I got the good ending without looking it up when I played it. "What Would Geralt Do" includes the best choices for Ciri. Such great writing from CDPR (and, of course, from Sapkowski, as I've read the first book and it's pretty good as fantasy novels go, which is gushing praise coming from someone like me.)

Which in the case of the Novigrad succubus in 4:40, means killing her. I disagree with Neon here, that one is guilty as fuck. Guards, medics and the notice board all say guards were killed "in recent days" and that it is a "string of murders", heavily implying the deaths didn't happen all at once but over the course of some time.
@OneLastScholar
@OneLastScholar Ай бұрын
Yet the succubus only claims she "does not lie" and "does not kill without reason" and that it was "to defend herself". Makes no sense why she would expose herself to life-threatening situations every day, so either it happened all at once (unlikely, given all other evidence) or she is lying.

12:59 This quest pissed me off because both end choices are to kill Niellen, even though he tells Mizlav in White Orchard that he can help with lycanthropy and Niellen didn't kill Hannah on purpose. It irks me that there wasn’t even an option to help the guy who was a victim to his condition, one that he tried and failed to cure on his own.
@bradleybourgeois4710
@bradleybourgeois4710 2 ай бұрын
While I do agree that it is a shame you can't free the Niellen from his lycanthropy, I do think the option where he follows Geralt to be killed to make sense. The poor werewolf just found that he killed his beloved wife by his own hands, accident or not, thanks to his sister-in-law being jealous of his relationship with his wife. Also, Margret said that he wouldn't stop until the one reponsible for his wife's death was punished and as the one who killed her must be killed in recompense. Besides, if I'm correct Niellen doesn't remember the details of transformations and would forget about the truth that was revealed to him during the quest, so that only adds more motive to put gasoline on his pyre to ensure that he is killed for his crimes.

In regards to Wild At Heart and Geralt's super-human hearing, I really wish there would have been a way for CDPR to have incorporated using Witcher senses during cutscenes for stuff like the sister's dialogue

I don’t know, from what I remember in the books, it’s not a thing, so he might just be lying to intimidate the guy. Witcher abilities can be kinda wishy-washy in the books though, and generally less powerful than in the games.
@EpicwinFTW27
@EpicwinFTW27 10 күн бұрын
That would just make everything so easy. The regular Witcher sense already makes every investigation as simple as just following the yellow lines. It's not super fun. The interesting part of dialogue is using context clues and thinking through a situation logically to determine if someone's most likely lying or truthful

Although I’m not really a comic person (I may have read about 5 comics (at max) in my life), I enthusiastically read the Witcher comics because I love this universe so much, and I really, really enjoyed them. I couldn’t keep myself from reading the next one immediately after, in fact. They’re truly like some side quests that turn out to have really good stories that we all enjoyed. I highly recommend reading them, you won’t regret it.

@@Nai-qk4vp Well, I enjoyed all of them, but I’d say "Fox Children" is my favorite, followed by "House of Glass". “Of Flesh and Flame” was really good and kinda fun too, but "Fox Children" truly stuck with me. "Fading Memories" was also excellent, focusing more on the deeper aspects of The Witcher universe. I haven’t read "Witch’s Lament" and "Once Upon a Time in the Woods" yet, but I have high hopes for "Witch’s Lament" because of its name, I love the darker aspects of this universe

Being Geralt must be very exhausting when he has a main quest to do. He can't walk away from evil being commited if he runs into it but sometimes they're really are more important things to do. Yen at the start tells him not to be a hero and focus on finding Ciri but there's tons of quests and stuff to do in White Orchid alone

Geralt made a lot of money in the books from several men of Toussaint who offered to outbid The Duchess to spare the harmless succubus who only occasionally "bewitched" grown men at night and never harmed a hair on anyone's head. 😂 The women just wouldn't understand so Geralt was paid even more to keep it a secret lol

The Wild at Heart quest is one of the most interesting outcomes for me. On one hand, you could argue that Geralt would kill Niellen because he's a werewolf threatening to kill a human woman. However, every time I play through this quest, I'm always reminded of one of my favourite scenes of the entire Witcher series, specifically with first Witcher game's final boss and a very important quote from The Grand Master as Geralt towers over him with a silver sword: "That sword...is for monsters!" This is very telling of Geralt's character that we obviously know well enough at this point. And as you mentioned in regards to that specific trailer, that our Witcher is fully aware that humans can also be monsters and won't hesitate in slicing a few heads (also reminiscent of the quest with that Witcher from the Feline school in which Geralt lets the guy walk away) And exactly why I always allow Neillan to kill the sister. Because I find the end result to be a lot more interesting. I was surprised to say the least. If you do consider discussing this in a seperate video, the final scene from the first witcher game might be worth mentioning. Wonderful vid!

I remember loading an earlier save on the last one because i didn't want the werewolf to die. He had things under control untill the sister interfered. Though yeah if the player can easily pick up on the sister being a liar, no way Geralt couldn't. Interestingly when I went back you can ask a villager about them. He mentions the sister being killed by a wolf and the guy leaving the village. Seems he found out the truth eventually.

i'll happily start the debate on the wild at heart final choice if neon won't lol. it's one of my favourite side quests mainly for that, i think it does a great job of showing the difference between geralt's moral compass and a typical adventurer. the woman is awful and the hunter is a good guy, so naturally a lot of people will think leaving him to kill her and not killing him is the moral thing to do. and that might be true, but im 100% sure geralt doesn't do that, because two defining characteristics of geralt are that he will almost never decide someone deserves to die, and he cares a lot about his responsibility to deal with potentially harmful monsters. it's important to note that she didn't deliberately kill her sister, she just wanted to steal her husband which is cruel but not anywhere near bad enough to deserve death, and doesn't suggest that she could hurt anyone again. and more importantly the hunter proved beyond a doubt that if he ever changes at a bad time, or if someone wanders too close to his hideout, he will attack anyone he sees. so you have a woman geralt would never think deserves to die, and a werewolf who's proven to be extremely dangerous to humans threatening to murder her right in front of him. in that scenario i don't ever see geralt walking out, he'd not even consider the idea of letting her die, and it's his job to kill the werewolf. and in the end she got what she deserved by losing the man she accidentally killed her sister for, which i thought was fitting

I'm normally a fan of the tabula rasa RPG character (like every Bethesda game or the Mount&Blade games), but Geralt is an exception to that rule (I'd say "the exception" but Arthur Morgan exists.) He's just such a well-realized and fleshed-out character that it becomes an experience unto itself to live his story in contrast to that Bethesda RPG style. And when it's done right, it offers a narrative experience far better than "play your way" freedom. Excellent video with well-presented arguments, all hail the algorithm, huzzah!

Please keep making these videos - they are amazing. Also, it makes me laugh every time you talk about "Reason of State", and how absurd the ending is. Dijkstra is my favourite character in the game, and it's annoying but also funny how badly CD Projekt fucked up in that regard. 😸

Great timing as I'm on my "scumbag" playthrough rn (just started Novigrad). I do everything to make Geralt a total sociopath who sucks at his job and I'm having a wonderful time ngl 😂 Not only is it hilarious at times but I also get to see some scenes and dialogues for the very first time. I make sure to always refuse a contract first only to come back seconds later lol Of course I took the money from both Margaret and Niellen... sorry not sorry!
