Well, I appreciate this video. My favorite chair broke recently, and I wanted to get another chair that could lean back like it does. It was a center tilt style chair (I learned from watching this video). My chair had the seat and back connected, so it all tilted together. It tilted pretty far back, enough so that my feet could come all the way off the ground. Me being over 6ft, it's pretty nice to be able to lean back that far, it was like being in a hammock. Now hopefully I can find a center tilt chair that does the same.

#1-3 are standard chairs, I been sitting in these at home most of my life. #4 is the ergo chair type, some offices has. #5 is the best I just got one yesterday. Humanscale freedom with headrest. No longer does reclining affects my knees or butt moving forward or up. So natural, just hope the tension lasts many years. I spent a lot of money and I am not even thinking about it. But everybody is different. I have a bad back from working at home on cheap chair, so got to get it right on a chair you spend a lot of hours on. Do not cheap out (maybe luxury item but not features.)

I found and own a tilt mechanism not covered anywhere on youtube at all,,, I have a peroine office chair a big heavy duty chair but the locking mechanism which they say " Seat-side cable actuated levers let you raise or lower your seat and rock back in your chair. Awesome tilt tension knob underneath the seat to adjust the flexibility of rocking back in your chair" this cable seems almost like a motorcycle brake system or like a older car door with the tension cable,, that part is broken and the chair is only 6 months old i have no clue how to fix this can you help?

In a multi-function chair, why is there a forward tilt mechanism? My understanding is that bending forward is not a "healthy" position and should be avoided. Also, why are so many positions based upon comfort? When I took physical therapy many required exercises were needed yet not the most comfortable. How can you tell the most "healthy" position? Video was certainly helpful/informative.

Yeah, tried those weight-activated chairs and they are awful. You need to put energy into the swivel motion which keeps you in tension ALL the time. I bet many people say they are comfortable in them, just because those chairs are expensive - it's a known bias. The truth is, the swivel motion does not feel and does not look natural - the video makes this extremely clear and I can confirm it is the case. If there was a knee tilt type of chair coupled with flexibility of the multi-function one I'd buy it in a heartbeat but I don't know any model that has this mix of tilt/swivel types.

Could it be that organic mechanisms without mechanics like in the Herman Miller Cosm can hurt your legs a bit more? I experienced this in an Interstuhl Pure that uses a similar mechanism that is based on a tension material. And because of always sitting in it slightly laid-back I felt an uncomfortable pressure on the underside of my thighs.

I'm an IT worker, and if the corona quarantine has taught me one thing, it's that 'gaming' chairs are amazing upgrades from standard 'office' and task chairs. the trick is finding one that fits your frame correctly, but the overall experience has been like sitting in a very comfortable car on a long drive.

@@zkmoonea I settled in on the AKRacing AKRACING CORE SERIES EX-WIDE for three reasons: First, they have a wider XL version, and I'm very broad in the hips and shoulders (TBH, I'm a bit pudgy, but the width is mostly my frame, at 5'10" I have same the shoulder width of a friend who is 6'4") - I found that the wings on a lot of standard gaming chairs poked at my shoulders, and encouraged me to hunch forward after a couple minutes. Second, the AKracing chairs come in a fabric covered model, which I find more comfortable overall than vinyl or leather. Third: Of the two brands that were 'finalists' on my shopping trip, the AKRacing was in stock, and I needed a chair ASAP - My regular desk chair had completely broken - it was a mesh seat one, and one side of the seat frame failed (after like 8 years. RIP, faithful arse rest!)

@@timclark5435 thx man for your recommendation. I now have a couple chairs including classic aeron size c and capisco puls. ive tried the leap but the back was too low for me since Im about 6'0" but with a long torso and neck that definitely should not grow on me hahahaha. i feel like at this point im still in need of a chair with a backrest thats high enough to rest my shoulders on, and with a seat pan thats wide and cusionny and made with real solid material. because i feel like man spreading from time to time, but the aeron does not allow this motion as much and the mesh will feel uncomfortable if I occasionally just want to sit at the front portion of the seat.

Did you notice that the tilt control mechanisms the last 10 years suck? With these, there is a cylindrical piece that is soldered to the plate. That solder is supposed to hold all the weight and undoubtedly cracks after 18 months, resulting in the chair not even standing right. It rocks from side to side. Pathetic. the old tilt control mechanisms have the soldered cylindrical piece going through 2 plates, an inch apart. Any solutions?
