Brilliant thank you so much - i was about to dismantle the tilt adjuster thinking it was broken (wouldn't rotate loose). It was the lock mechanism that you pointed out - I had been spinning on the chair the night before and my legs must have knocked the lever. I had no idea it was there :)

MAN! My Serta chair would go from sometimes tilting to randomly not (I guess the lock would get kicked in and sometimes it would come out and that’s when it would tilt.) Had my chair for about 7 years as well and I didn’t even know you had to pull it out to unlock the tilt mechanism I have been trying to figure out how to rock my cheer bag and every once in a while it will become unlocked so I can rock back, but ever since I have found this video I know how to work my chair now LMAO!!
