Lots of tape measures actually have that movement in them on purpose. That way you can hook it to something and measure OR butt it up against something. It accounts for thickness of the hooked edge

I start at 10 on my tape measure. To me it's less confusing to subtract the first digit instead. Also, love my Multi Mark. Bill

Good video but I often wonder why in the USA you still use imperial measurements when the rest of the world (except Liberia and Myanmar) use metric. Just thinking out loud. Love Kreg stuff by the way. Chris x

Well, short answer is because we've always done it that way. Which I know, isn't a real good reason. But it's the references we know.
