My mom grew up in camas. I have been going to camas since I was born to visit grandparents and other family. I loved it. After I got out of the navy I moved to camas. It was a great place in the 90s and early 2000s. Not so much anymore. It's changed. It's crowded. It's over crowded. Rude snobby people have taken over. My wife who has lived in camas her whole life feels the same way. People move here all over just to put their kids in camas schools. I left CA mainly because of the gun laws. And now WA has worse gun laws that CA. A few years ago the laws were acceptable and helped keep WA safe. We are planning on leaving the state in about 5 years. I would like to remember the old camas where people worked for a living and down town was full of shops where people conducted business and not art yoga and IPA beer bars.

I am sorry to hear you feel that way. Certainly it has changed, as every growing city has. Most people I talk to who live here now love it. You are spot on that gun laws in WA are indeed stricter than they used to be. Thanks for watching!

Although not necessarily walkable for say, groceries, it’s generally very walkable to parks and exercise paths. And once you’ve seen the views from those “hills”, well let’s say that I love looking at Mt. Hood!

Does not matter how good or bad a city may be If homes are 500-700k you need to be making a a bare min 125,000.00$ a year to buy these homes with at least 40% down At 125k you will struggle to do any upgrades or replace a roof

reduced house prices would only be a problem for those who bought after the prices went up sharply during the pandemic. With higher interest rates, those prices are now too high, and need to be realistically reduced, to accommodate a reasonable payment.

Couer d Alene Idaho is even worse the houses all got bought and remodeled buy investors and some straight back out there as rentals priced so high .all the locals out of the area .many renters had the house bought out from under them and paid to vacate ! and post falls projected gain of 50k people in the next 18 years !!!!!and its happening !!the freeway to sandpoint a bypass of the i 95 made farmland instantly apt buildings and stores off the exits ! of the 34 years as a remodel contractor not since the Phoenix boom have i seen anything like this . where do you go to stay out of the boom ?

Hi, thanks for commenting and watching! The way the pandemic reshaped and sped up migration patterns in the US is very fascinating, for better or for worse. The internet holds no secrets, including the best places to live, so I'm not sure if it's possible to stay 'out of a boom'. I would say, move wherever is best for you and forget about everyone else. People have always and will always migrate and move around the country. Clark County has grown dramatically since the 90s, and with the prices of everything have also gone up. The only alternative to growth is shrinking/dying economy, and I would rather being in a growing and changing area than one that is losing jobs and home values.

How expensive the rents are... How everything has changed after Covid. Today life is more expensive everywhere in the world. I like where you live. It's okay Bed. Prices increasingly higher. Greetings🌎😎

Isn't Camas more prone to colder & icier weather due to proximity to the Gorge?

I would say yes generally because the elevation is higher.

Very true, ice storms usually occur in late winter here with temps always hovering 1 to 2 degrees colder than the rest of PDX in the winter, while summers are practically the same. However something that should be noted is that Camas along with Washougal are a lot windier year round making winters more uncomfortable and summers even more perfect. Wind usually blows strong when there is an approaching low coming from the pacific causing wind in the gorge to strengthen. Other than that, clean air, and beautiful weather.

Washougal and camas get hit pretty hard with snow and east wind. there is alot of micro climates in this area wirh 164th being a diving line. There have been days when camas is sunny and clear skies but 192nd and all of vancouver is thick fog.

Building more won’t solve anything because they’ll build $800k plus homes. That’s what’s built in my area of Minneapolis. Many $1MM plus homes , but the cheapest new builds are $500k townhomes. 🤷‍♂️

thanks for commenting and watching. I understand your concerns with affordability. You can buy a single family home in Clark County for about 400k+ and for new construction, about $500k+ (location dependent)

My son is moving to Camas. Who should he contact and what area should he focus on finding an apartment in? He just graduated and this will be his first post college home. Thank you from r your video. Will look at more.

Thanks for commenting and congrats to your son. Regarding finding a rental, realtors here do not have much power in that process, he will work directly with the landlord or property manager. I don't know anything about him but if if sends me an email I can suggest some areas that may be a good fit for him :) hannah@dubynerealtygroup.com

The pressure camas schools put on the kids are very much there. Camas schools will be 2x's as hard and stressful compared to neighboring districts. College was much easier than high school

if ya want no pressure on your kids' school, move to Portland & see how that works out for your kids
