I experienced the same thing about 4 years ago I was supposed to go to prison I pray to God but I will change I still read the Bible I'm still sober God has really changed my life I appreciate the spiritual bread that I eat every morning reading the Bible in the morning is a priority for me it nourishes My soul and Spirit

As an atheist I am often struck by a sense that the Old Testament is full of hate, rejection and retribution (and sanctioned injustice), where the New Testament is more about Love and Compassion and forgiveness. Do you feel that the Old Testament is a perfect book, or do you just feel that way about the New Testament?

One of the things I find odd about the Bible (as a non believer) is that people see the Flood as a good thing. The story of the Exodus and Passover demonstrates that God could be selective in who He had killed so why kill all of mankind except Noah and family, all the animals, and all the plants. it is hard for me to believe that only eight people at the time were innocent. Do you have a view on this?

They, while supposedly being good in God's sight are still fallen humans. Even Christ's death on the cross....despite all the hooplah of taking away the sins of the world seemed to do little to actually take away sins since most theists of today lament on how the world has gotten so much more sinful. Even people who seemingly happily and willingly accept the gift of salvation and are a new person still sin in thought word and deed daily. Bluntly Christ's death on the cross while showy did little.

The teachings of Christ to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves have produced the most humane, most charitable, most prosperous, most desirable places to live in the world. People actually flee from countries where the teachings of Christ have been rejected and seek refuge in regions where people embrace the teachings of Christ for a reason. Christ makes life better for everyone, even people who don’t yet believe in him. Pls accept the best results: declare Jesus as your Lord, believe in your heart that God raised him from death and you will be saved (Romans 10:9).

Good luck living 1600 years after your first prophecy. The Bible (a compilation of 66 books) was written by over 40 authors over a course of 1600 years. Over the course of his time on earth, Jesus fulfilled at least 300 prophecies with his actions.

However, if you really want an answer, I would strongly encourage you to go back and listen all the way through. And, instead of listening with an agenda that is looking to argue, listen with the following question in mind: "Does what he says make sense, even if I don't agree with it at first?" It's important to look for the Truth. Does the bible not contain scientific contradictions and errors ? Doesn't it contain events that occurred different to what the bible predict ? What do you mean manuscripts? I don't think we have copies of original manuscripts, do we? The oldest might be a manuscript of Isaiah that dates ~100 BC, right? But that wouldn't be an original would it? Certainly some inscribed amulet wouldn't be considered an original manuscript.

And since the discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls, we have the other manuscripts that the early editors did not like. The bible is a compilation of the writings that certain powerful clerics decided were kosher and where the ones they decided were heretical (didn't agree with their views) got left out and were declared anathema, and as much as possible destroyed. When people say they are christians, they are really saying they are Irenaeans, or Augustinians, or Ignatians, or Justinians, or Athanasians.
