In lieu of a Christmas party work has given us Amazon cards... Maybe that's a good excuse to get a new watch :) I think you did convince me toward the 945 for that battery life alone. Loving the battery life on my Fenix but the dang thing is huge and starting to irritate my skin, but maybe that would happen with any watch 🤔 great video my man!!

If that card doesn't expire, you might want to wait till the 955 comes out. Rumors are this spring 🤷🏻♂️ But I don't have any inside info. Garmin ignores me completely.

My concern is basically about the sizing of these 2 watches, because of my tiny wrist. But after considering the battery life, I am thinking to buy 945 over 745. Thanks Matt! Great video though! Thumbs up!

Good comparison. I keep waiting until my Forerunner 235 dies so I can get a 945, it's been going strong > 2 years already. Well built watches.

Hi. Thank you for your video. The choice seems to be easy unless we touch the GPS accuracy of 745. If 955 will have the accuracy plus all benefits of 945 I'm ready to wait :)

@@mlegrand Yeah, LTE would be a milestone. Totally independent device - as far as you stay within the GSM signal. Anyway I just wonder. What's at the end of the rainbow - a super accurate microchip under our skin and only some display device at our wrist? Endless tones of super data... I think we are getting close, very close. BTW I think you remember a funny film, that we liked so much when we were teenagers - Rocky IV. It was only 35 years ago (!) :) So my question is, what is the choice - Drago's system of training or maybe still Balboa's one? ;) And I'm placing the question only for one reason. Because fortunately there is no and probably there will never be a device that can measure the crucial factor - our will of fight, our need for endorphins and joy, our madness and finally our spirit :) Let's stick to it, when all batteries, except ours will be empty ;)

I love my 945! The only thing I don't love is the grossly inaccurate pace it spits out at me when I'm on the treadmill, so I've just learned to run based on mph and time when I'm on the mill.

There are footpods and other tools for more accurate treadmill pace and distance. I agree that my 945 doesn't give good measurements on a treadmill. I think it's a pretty wild estimate at best. Thanks for video. You mentioned differences between sizes of the watches, but didn't mention differences between blind zones on watch-faces (I mean the black area around the circumference). In 945 it noticeably bigger than in 745 (about 3 mm).

Garmin seems to have misplaced the 745 in the food chain... I agree it should have been a 900 series. You are making the decision to go 745 tough. The LTE size is super attractive.

I guess we need to keep in mind that the 745 or 945LTE won’t be able to use the Garmin quick release system which is designed for bigger watches. It’s not something that I use personally but I know it’s important to other users. 2022 should be interesting! 👌

Great video Matt. Would you recommend those of us who have the 935 to upgrade to either the 945 or 745? I am happy with my 935 but I am wondering if I am missing significant bells and whistles with the newer watches.

Amazing video Matt. Really like the content. Do you have any recommendations for nonwrist based tracker. I am looking to track workout metrics (crossfit) / trianing load and sleep data. What would you recommend ?

Hmm, I can't think of anything other than a watch that would track those metrics. There are foot pods and heart rate monitors that also track some workout metrics. But I think a watch is going to be your best bet. Are you concerned about having it on your wrist while lifting? If it's possible to wear something up higher, you'll actually get more accurate heart rate data from the optical heart rates that are built into the watches.

@@mlegrand I don't like the fact of wearing a watch all the time to track all metrics as I have other analog watches that I like to wear. From a watch perspective which one would you recommend though? Keeping training metrics (load ) and sleep tracking in mind. Polar / Garmin?

@@mrrishibhatia - I prefer the way Garmin does their training load but I prefer the way Polar does sleep tracking. Sorry to make things more confusing. Hard to pass up the 945 right now. Got one on a flash sale for $425. No brainer at that point over the 745. Only thing is I am not that impressed at all on my GPS runs. My TomTom spark (Great watch but finally broke after 5 years) was more true to the correct distance I ran based off overlayed routes on the maps that I could see.

@@batbix - I don't think it'll ever get that low but I've been wrong before. I'd expect to see it in that 500-550 range for a while.

@@batbixI did take a risk and purchase it through a store on ebay. I have not had issues buying stuff this way before. The seller had 20 units and all have been sold now. I got one of the last ones and they gave me an additional discount down to $425. They were selling the rest for $473. It was brand new and the box hadn't been tampered with and registered just fine so i don't think it was a sam or something fishy. It was $473 when Amazon had the watch on sale for $499.

It’s out of this video but why noone make comparision challange of new Garmin HRM Pro vs Polar H10 chest strap? I really wanna know which one is more accurate since all hospitals use Polar chest strap in the world. If Polar better so, can we connect H10 to any Garmin wrist watch device? Thanks

So, there is track run profile, suggested workouts, updated race predictor etc. on the 945 now, right?

Correct. 5.2 actually installed on my 945 yesterday as I was editing this video. Garmin slowly rolls out the update to everyone so eventually you should get it if you have automatic updates turned on. Thanks for watching Mikus!

@@mlegrand updates are groovy! I have a 5s and was happily shocked to see that it seems to have a 6 feature CLImb pro on loaded courses. The suggested workouts sounds great but unless Garmin says it takes into account my very old age then it might not allow enough rest. I'm learning that trainer road plans or builder doesn't ask for age and forums seem to say that older athletes have to tweak in more rest and lower volume. So for now I'm suspicious enough to hold off on purchases. There is a tiny chance some of these new goodies will show up on my 5s. Loving the free climb pro that came to my 5s. I was getting tired and it let me know i just hit the top.

Hi Robin, Thanks for watching! I haven't done a study on which watches most accurately pickup different stroke types. Although that would be an interesting video. 🤔 Currently the device that I think does best is the Form Swim goggles but they are not my favorite goggle on the market.

Matt you would like your intake, I live Garmin FEnix 6 pro 879$, 945 850$. I would like to upgrade my 3hr, I would like the watch for running, hiking and a bit of crossfit. Which of them do you think will be better? Or do you think trying polar would be better for training? Some people say to me that polar is better for training. If you can give me some input on the matter I would appreciate.

All of these watches would work well for what you're doing. I would aim to get the 945, especially since Garmin is rumored to be announcing the 955 soon and I would expect the 945 to go on sale soon. Hope this helps and thank you Hugo for taking the time to watch my channel. 👍🏻

At a retailer the told me the 756 has 8 gigs ofRAM. Are you sure about the 4?

I'm not sure about anything in this life. 😉 But it's my understanding that the 745 has 4GB and that only around 3GB are usable because the watch operating system takes up some space. @@mlegrand Haha the first statement so true (unfortunately) I totally understand the 4/3 situation, just was thinking about it because some sources say 8 and that's a big difference compared to 4 which I find way too small for the price. But I loved your comparisons, it helped me out a lot! However, I still haven't decided I am a broke-ass student I love them both and difference is really not huge....but we will see :)
