So I priced out the Harvey 3hp table saw and it came to about $2800.00. To be Farr you have to include shipping. The saw looks nice and gets a lot of good reviews. But ultimately I picked up a Sawstop. I was able to get it from my local tool store. So no shipping + if I need to take it back no problem. Couldn’t find any Harvey dealer close to me. The difference came to about $700.00 more. Also based on reviews dust collection is better on the Sawstop.

I've had a Harvey 2hp C200-30 Ambassador for a few years now and have been happy with it and could probably get by with it but I'm upgrading to a 4hp Harvey. The reason for the upgrade is power. There are definitely times that I have to move the stock through the saw somewhat slowly to not overwhelm the motor. It didn't make sense for me to upgrade 1hp from what I have to get a 3hp. I did the same with my bandsaw, went with a 14" 3hp and haven't bogged it down yet. Buy once cry once. Thanks for taking the time.

Recently been attracted to these Harvey videos. Everyone says how great they are except for this one thing (varies). I think I made the right choice with my SawStop. Forget the safety, well manufactured, full feature saw, easily assembled, and worked right out of the box

I purchased the Laguna F3 52" table saw over the Harvey, Stop saw, Powermatic, and Grizzly table saws. but that Harvey 4hp table saw really caught my attention over the other table saws. I went with the Laguna F3 52" table saw because at the time, the Harvey didn't have a 52" rip and I'm used to table saws with s 52" rip., so the Laguna F3 52" was my purchase. Great video, and don't drink that coffee, a fly has been crawling all around the rim of your coffee cup.

Just received my Harvey 3HP 2 days ago. I waited until they had a "free shipping" sale. Not impressed with the way the unit was packaged for shipping, although it appears that it is all there and undamaged. Pallet was just wrapped with plastic with fence and dust collection boxes on the side (with a little crushing evident, but contents OK) and a separate box containing the rails. Nothing at all like the wooden cage that my Grizzly bandsaw was shipped in. Anyway, XPO logistics driver delivered it into my garage. No begging required... Haven't started assembly yet. Will need to go retrieve my shop crane from storage. Looks like a quality machine.

Thanks for the detailed reasoning behind your choice. I just order the 3HP Harvey. I'm a little nervous about the delivery and needing a joist. I'm hoping i can slip the mobile cart under the delivery frame and avoid having to find a joist. I do see videos where folks manage to get the machine onto a cart. Anyway, nice work!

just slide it off the pallet onto the cart…also, you can tip it forward, lay the cart underneath and then slide it into final position on the cart…a lot of the weight is actually in the rail and tables opposite the saw blade…

I have looked at the Harvey 3hp and 4hp as well compared to the Jet and the SawStop. If price was not a factor at all would you have gone with any other brand or are you happy with your Harvey table saw? In 10 years will you ever look back and think you would have preferred a different model or brand? If so, what and what would be the main reason? Thanks for the response if you are able to get around to it.

This review helped. I will say, that while the Sawstop is more expensive, you have to pay an additional $500 for shipping in North Ameeica with the Harvey. Other than that, I just feel like the Harvey might be better value for money. I know one thing, I am tired of researching this issue! 😂

I had a Harvey alpha. This table saw at first I believed it was amazing. I had issues with the parts that were mentioned to keep the belt tight (a nut was missing from the factory), the dust collection didn't work well, it stayed clogged up. Trying to use the blade gard I found it created a problem with trying to rip large pieces of plywood. It would completely stop and I could not push it through. I had many other problems too. I ended up selling this $5000 table saw for $2500 just to get it away from my shop. HARVEY= 💩

No disrespect if it was a $250 difference Harvey would be in trouble but as of late everybody is buying Harvey. I think it might be an generation thing. Growing up if you had a finger or two that were missing or cut in half that was pretty normal in the trades. It seems like the saw stop is trying to take away the grit and mud of learning. Unless you are comparing a sliding saw versus a cabinet saw ...there really isnt enough difference to make a difference if both have same power. Its s spinning blade and a fence. At this price range ...they all do the same job. You buy a sawstop for the safety feature. So comparing one saw with it and one without is a bit silly. If you want the safety feature its sawstop or nothing unless you can knock out huge money and have the space for felder.

I swore for years that I would never NEVER have a Sawstop. I did not care about the safety technology, I did not like the asshole who came up with it and has been lobbying the government to REQUIRE it on all new saws, and I basically did not want to jump on the Sawstop bandwagon like almost everyone else in the world. I looked at everything and finally realized that there’s just not a better saw for the money than the Sawstop PCS. I hate to admit it, but it’s the truth. For real SCREW SAWSTOP! But they make a damn good saw.
@rainbowbudgies1129

You have received some bad information my friend. The man who developed the brake stopping technology, first offered it “free of charge” to all the major table saw manufacturers. They all declined. They felt the increase in price they would have to charge, would make their saws unaffordable for most people and they would take a major hit in sales. He therefore decided to create his own table saw in order to put his safety feature out there; thus, Saw Stop was born. Recently, congress has been lobbied to take action toward table saw manufacturers, to develop a safer table saw due to the increasing number of user accidents which seem to be growing each year. Congress (or maybe the Senate), asked Mr Saw Stop (sorry I can’t remember his name), to appear and be questioned for his advice and opinion. The government is the entity that wants to make the braking feature mandatory. Mr Saw Stop did not push for it as far as I understand.
@wulf67
@wulf67 Ай бұрын
@@rainbowbudgies1129 His name is Steve Gass, and yes he lobbied and continues to lobby the government to require the use of the technology. He claims that anyone is free to use his patented technology, yet Sawstop continues to sue anyone who attempts to sell a saw with technology even remotely similar. Now that you know his name you can google it, but I have a feeling that you would rather just believe what you already believe, and not care to know whether it’s true or not. That’s how most people are.

Had a harvey, upgraded to a sawstop, i mean UPGRADED! The dust collection on the harvey is a joke, if youre working as a hobbyst in your garage its fine but certainly not in a production setting. The sawstop safety feature is the biggest upgrade, people dont consider the price difference between a nic in a finger and a 50k to a 250k surgery... while everyone is comparing a few hundred bucks left or right, thats fine, its your budget because the feature isnt worth a penny until its worth 100k, a year in recovery and possibly lifelong lingering pain. Safety feature aside, lets talk about price and harveys horrible sale tactics, the price changes every other day rendering the resale value worthless, sawstops even on marketplace go for near the purchaese price, the harvey i sold i barely got half the price i paid because their sale prices fluctuated so much. I understand everyone has a budget, so get what you can afford, but i learned my lesson.
