Watching this vid with my platinum vsx!

Nice to see you in a more informal state of mind for this video. I'm a VSX user and love 'em. I mix on my monitors and fave DT990 Pros for broad strokes but when I get down to the nitty gritty I use VSX. Just discovered the wonderful very flat sound of the Bypass for VSX and their Ultra-Linear mode. If you get VSX, don't discount that super-flat sound for mixing. Thanks!

I regret not getting them sooner, because I thought it was kind of a gimmick... I pulled the plug and got them couple months ago. Where I live the supplier is Thomann and they make it tricky to get that 30 day money back thing, and rent to own isn't possible, so that held me back a bit. But anyway, my mixes translated so much better from the first time I started using them, not even giving it enough time to for me to get used to the sound. Somehow they managed to make low end sound so well, like real speakers. With all of my headphone mixes that low end was always problematic. Headphones can handle loads of low end, and only when you play your mix on speakers do you realize you overdid it. First time I used VSX my low end was pretty much spot on. I also find using VSX rooms helps with ear fatigue. Regular headphones can feel a little bit closed and create a feeling of pressure in the head at times, with VSX I don't have that problem.

fuck it ima have to buy too 😂

@@Marko-ft8uu I really do enjoy using them. If you can use that 30 day money back period, trying them out is a no brainer.

its because they have some kinda Air pressure SPL sensor on them and they increase it to match with the bass frequency. The translation is fucking excellent on them

ARC 3 (soon 4) for my monitors, Dsoniq Realphones for my DT 1990 Pro's. Sorted. 😎

"...made the changes....sounded way better, and that was really annoying..."...hahahahaha! You caused me to laugh out loud on that one...I've located a pair of these at a place not far from where I live...it's the lower priced package, but I can upgrade to the premium software later...paused at 1:41 to comment, so back to watching....probably will go down and get them, because the place shows they're open today. Thanks for the video, and hope you and yours are doing great!

If I didn’t invest in a headphone setup yet I would get the VSX, it just works. I’m using a planar headphone, a dac with separate amplifier, eq to the Harman target and use a crosstalk plugin. All in all more expensive than going for the VSX 😅

Just want to clarify did you get the regular VSX ($299) or the platinum version ($499)? I appreciate this vid as I’m currently looking for a good pair of reference headphones, and your A/B example convinced me to look into these more.

Hey Sam, was there any contact between you and Slate Audio in regards to this video?

I have a pair of very good Austrian Audio headphones and the CLA Studio plug-in. Would these honestly be better than that.

I have VSX and just using it for checking the final mix in different rooms. I recommend VSX for room simulations only. Without the simulation software it does not worth it. The material quality is not great, there are better headphones at a much lower price. Bought the regular version and then received a 50% coupon for the upgrade. For those interested, dont buy platinium version upfront just buy the regular version and wait for your upgrade coupon from Slate and save $100.

Do you plug your headphones directly into your laptop? Or do you use some sort of headphone amp/driver?
@SamLooseАй бұрын
They’re plugged into an Audient iD44 when I’m in the studio. When I’m travelling it’s just straight into my laptop

Can they be used while composing or writing new music?

Of course, they’re just headphones 😀

@SamLoose thanks I've been reading a lot of reviews and comments and they sound like exactly what I need. But I wasn't sure if there were any latency issues. Do you recommend the platinum version over the standard?

Hey Sam, I'm stuck in a similar situation where my monitoring environment is far from ideal. Did you consider/trial the Audeze MM-500s or equivalent high end mixing headphone? Did you choose the VSX because it was more of a budget alternative, giving you a similar insight at less cost?
@SamLoose4 ай бұрын
In my mind headphones will still be headphones, just more expensive and better sounding. The VSX were just an interesting concept that I could see value in. I have lots of software from Slate Audio and I know they’re a company who care about their customers, so it seemed like the right choice. I’d still be keen to try out others in the same field though!
