Congratulations Tin Man. The Z8 and Z400 4.5 are my go too more so than the Z9 on my 600 f4. So light and quick on target. Connected to you’re 400 tc is going to put a big smile on your face.

After 5 years of using the Nikon D500, I've upgraded to the Z8. The two are very similar in size and weight. Your videos will be super helpful as I'm now looking to upgrade to Z lenses.

Did you have memory cards in the Z9 and Sony but not the Z8? The cards would add more weight.

Just waiting for your comparison of Z8 Vs Z9 Vs A1 . Heard the new firmware of Z8 has improved bird tracking . I am on R5 with Rf100-500 and thinking of moving to Nikon as they have the best lenses collection but confused and will decided once you post your video. Thanks

Hi, I got an Sony A7IV+200-600 and thinkin to upgrade to and a1 (6220 US)or z8 + 180-600(7340 US) for birding. Hope you can compare the autofocus, ty!

That’s a very good suggestion. While the A1 is the flagship but it’s been around for 2 years. And the z180-600 is new and I bet it built based on the Sony 200-600 so it should be superior. Will let you know. I was photographing some peregrine falcon few days ago and the A1 was just absolutely amazing.

In case you decide to go with the Nikon Z8, remember that you can also get the Megadap adaptor (Sony to Nikon Z). Autofocus might not be the same as native lenses but you will be able to use your Sony lens on your Nikon body.

@@rodrigomartin-hidalgo1592 thanks for the info. Yea I got the adaptor and it works perfectly Almost too good to be true. Super fast AF. Haven’t done a side by side comparison with the native lens though.

Wait for A1 mark 2. Stick to your A7, save money. I have A1 and i dont like EVF. Its far worse than on my R5. AF is good, but i tell you. I bought for my girlfriend R7 with 100-400 rf lens, and in good light it focuses sooo fast and soo good that it is better than A1. I hope for A1m2 because i have 600gm and im really sad about sony evf. When i shoot more time with sony its ok, but when i shoot with r5 and then switch do a1 its pain :/ BTW, i was looking for Z body and 400mm 4.5 lens, bud budget is tight and i am already saving for R1 :D good luck:)

I've had the Z8 for about 2 weeks and although I have not extensively tested it I have noticed that after about 30 minutes of shooting indoors not video but stills with a SanDisk extreme pro CFEx B 128gb card, the camera gets warm and I get a "hot card" message. Other than that everything's been working fine. One of the reviewer said the only lens he's found so far that is affected by the recall is the 35 mm 1.8 which is very difficult if not impossible to attach without the recall fix

SanDisk pro is known for overheating, change it to Angelbird or Delkins... but yeah Z8 still overheats but not simply indoor and for stills

It is interesting t know that even Pro like you don't have clues to everything about a camera, the first thing you were clueless was about the cable holder and second was where to look for serial no in the body. Anyway Thanks for the video and curious to your field experience of z8 vs z9
