Good video, greetings from South Africa we own a male Boerboel in the Overberg, Western Cape South Africa. Zero crime at home since we own this dog. Family loves him. Our Boerboel opens our doors if we leave the doors on the hook, he lifts the hook gently with his head and walks through. Our Boerboel is very territorial we have to put him away when we have visitors its a small inconvenience compared to the safety and love he offers our family.

My boarboel Henley got wobbler syndrome at about 3 years of age and had to have surgery on his neck and couldn't walk for awhile I had to carry him to do everything. But my little man is still here and id do it all over again for him.

Greetings from a farm land and boerboel owner in the Philippines. They are the best farm dogs for this environment. I looked up many breeds before I got my boerboel, would not choose a different breed anymore

I have 2 Boerboel and they are amazing. One of which is my service dog. They are amazing and very trainable! I personally know of 8 Boerboel service dogs. Very adaptable to travel and medical offices.

I tell you one thing. Our boerboel Fits at least 3 to 4 of the reasons you mentioned. BUT man, my boerboel is very SCARED of so many things. Even when we go on walks he gets pretty nervous. At home he is SCARED of some of the weirdest things. I feel so bad for him. He is a BIG, MUSCULAR, intimidating dog but if they only knew his SCAREDNESS they can get by him. Thank God he is intimidating. Hopefully our next boerboel will be different.

Probably that was a bad socialization issue as an early pup or can be genetic what is the father and mother of that pup? But usually it’s bad socialization my friend

I agreeee totally!! They are extremely inteligente!! My 15 month boerboel is a service dog to my !! He has learn to alert my to take my medication, he wakes my if I have nightmares!! And never been trained to do that !!

Great video Rui, this breed of dog is in my opinion is the best dog you can buy, I have had a female and she was an incredible animal, due to an illness we lost her earlier this year, hence the reason I am now talking to Rui.

i owned an AMSTAFF that had wobler's about 40 yrs ago, looked like (on xray) that the spine doesn't separate or is fused together right below the neck, interfere's with dog's ability to lift the front legs, almost like drop foot, and, your dog's look REAL nice

Very informitive video. I pretty much knew all this. Cause i've beem doing my research on the boerboel breed. But i gotta say as far as a protection dog, my wife and I have an 8 pound chihuaha and his cousin which is a 15 pound chi/mini daschund/rat terrier mix, and they are so protective of my wife, it's not even funny. And we have tried everything with them, to stop being over protective. Our french bulldog, and siberian husky, and our english bulldog/american bully mix, are not nearly the like them. We take those 3 everywhere, unfortunately the the boys don't like strangers anymore. We used to be able to take them out with us, maybe it's old age setting in with them. They are both 7 now. The girls are 3 and under. But cannot wait to add a boerboel to the family. Would defintely prefer a female to a male though.

Boerboel … in SA says something similar to Burble and KZfaq auto subtitles translate to burble , you think someone like me don’t know the name of the breed I’m breeding ? Also I’m Portuguese my accent is different , not sure what was your intention but it’s kinda of ridiculous that comment …

I have a 9-month-old boerboel, and I can tell you they are great family dogs, but can be very needy and drool a lot all over everything and can smell up stuff real quick, They can push you or a child over in a second, trained well or not their big kids..

May I point out two important health factors. Wobblers syndrome is directly linked to putting too much calcium in their food while growing up. Don’t give extra egg shells or calcium powder thinking that the bones will grow strong. The spinal bone also grows larger which squeezes the mani nerve system (thick causes Wobblers Syndrome and secondly, stomach torsion (bloat) can happen and often does. At 5 months old, have the stomach stitched to the side wall in order to eliminate this happening. It’s a minor operation.I’m talking from direct experience. Please adhere to both pieces of advice.

My concern is that I like to know that I do not injure them by endurance exercises... I like to know what is a suitable level of time they can jog beside a bicycle... SO, for example, if you ride your bicycle in a normal speed like 20-25 km/h is it perfectly fine for a Boer Boel to run/jog beside your for an hour every morning in this speed to get some endurance co2 exercise or will this slow speed already be too much for a Boer Boel for one hour of jogging? Is just an example now so to discuss from some point of view as a start... what speed and for how long can I train a Boer Boel in a good way and not damage their joints at all or stress their heart due to their heavy weight? For example, Mike Tyson was a heavy weight boxer but he still run pretty quickly for a jog every morning at 5 am throughout his whole career but he also trained a a body builder... Now he is a human of course , but still just like a Boer Boel a heavy weight... so do you see my concern, what is a good time and good speed for training the Co2 endurance training for the Boer Boel? please help us understand what is just the perfect speed of trot and time ... than you!

As a pup zero exercise , it’s just normal living like playing with dogs , and a small walk only that , more then that not recommend as a pup , adult you can do whatever you like if it’s a fit dog and not a heavy one they will handle it

J'adore le Boerboel,, j'avais dans le passé discuté longuement avec des propriétaires, des éleveurs Belge et Canadien de la race. Le seul gros problème du South African Boerboel, c'est qu'il a été injustement interdit en France par une loi faites par des technocrates qui ne connaissent absolument pas la race. J'ai donc eu un Presa Canario très robuste et possède actuellement des Dogo Argentino qui sont aussi de superbes compagnons, très bon gardien, extrêmement athlétique. J'aime le Dogo Argentino et le Boerboel, j'aurai aimé avoir un Mâle Boerboel et une femelle Dogo Argentino, car je pense que la mâle Boerboel est moins radical et mauvais avec les autres mâles qu'un mâle Dogo Argentino qui est extrêmement bagarreur... Félicitations pour votre bel élevage de Boerboel. Eric privé de Boerboel en France.

Remember with any dog. The better quality of food you provide the longer they will live. Just like people. The person that eats nothing but junk food will have a shorter lifespan than the person that eats healthy and exercises

Someone has been watching too much commercial 7pm News that jumps all over any abused dog or a dog doing it's job (Guarding / Protection) attacking someone. Chihuahua are the most violent dog breed. Larger dogs can just do more damage if they do bite.
