The current 4Runner is actually built in a Lexus plant. Quality control is very important. My friend said I should have bought something more modern with better tech. I told him yeah, at least I'll only have to put up with this ancient design for 20 or so years. I figure by the time my 4Runner is wearing out, it will be considered retro and worth a bunch.

It's the Tahara plant. One of the most efficient assembly plants in the world. The workers there need to have 25+ years of experience to work there. In Japan, it's considered an honor.

@@MrDW72if you dont do any offroading the SR5 is sufficient. You can modify it later to make it off road worthy which is my opinion is more enjoyable throughout the journey as you watch all the changes you make to it 😁👍🏼 id look for an SR5 premium for softex seats vs cloth seats.

Got a 206 with 380k miles. Still feels like it has less than 25k miles. Engine pulls very strong. Engine and transmission have become so smooth over time. Feels like a luxury car. I don't think this car will ever die.

Just buy an old one with a v8? They made a 4Runner with a v8 about 20 years ago. I bought Lexus’s version last year a 2004 gx470. Also when people stop buying electric cars, and they’re stuck with a pile of them… maybe then they’ll understand. Converting to majorly electric cars is a fantasy.

The new Tundra has serious fit and finish issues. I sure hope that’s not the case with the redesigned 4Runner. They cheapened the tundra right out. And cranked the price way up. Very sad.

I have a 2004 4runner with the same v6 there identical btw. It’s at 180,000 miles and is 20 years old as of next month. It’s quiet and runs so smooth. I know what I’m buying next and it’s going to be a 6th gen 4runner these motors are perfect. Don’t believe the hype about the v8 it’s got its own pros and cons but the v6 it’s great. Less issues.

Had my Tacoma that long and it was going strong at 347k until a guy decided he didn’t understand stop lights. Great insurance payout and got the SR5 with TRD trim package, hope to have it forever.

After this video i’ve confirmed, I’m definitely waiting for the new model maybe around the second year of its production. 4Runners needed an upgrade and they just didn’t fail to impress. I will have to wait but it will be totally worth it. And this is coming from an Automotive Service Advisor from Toyota 😅

Toyotas been doing turbo 4 cylinders since mid to late 70s too so it's pretty obvious there's only going to be mild numbers affected for the first release years

I have the same 4runner. Though i have a pulsing vibration that Toyota put a dynamic dampener on the front differential for. The vibration is still there they say it's normal. Hopefully..

I got the V8 edition because it has so much more torque than the new 4 runners. And the newest ones coming out now will have the same hp and torque as the V8 had in the 2007

I see these newer 4Runners and Tacos in the Northwest on lifts with overland builds. They looked decked out. They all have one thing in common they are clearly daily driven and there is zero mud or body damage

Half the reasons you gave were reasons to wait. The engine will have more power and better mpg, the styling will be refreshed not completely redone, and the tech is crap in the current ones. For the money the tech is a joke.

The comment is very vague you said buy a 4Runner yes we get it. But you didn't say what year clearly the best year would be gen 3 although the older gens had a chance to score a manual transmission and manual windows. Clearly any older 4Runner will outlast you in the long run with proper maintenance

Please don’t spread misinformation. The tundra and tacomas are build in their San Antonio plant. They are not build in Mexico

Tacomas now are being built in mexico. Only Tundras and sequioas are built in San Antonio plant because they share the same chassi. I used to work for the plant

All the old Toyotas are going to shoot up in value, from the Sienna to the 4Runner to the Tundra. Hardly anyone wants a downsized engine with a turbo slapped on it like it's some sort of lightweight German sports car. These are trucks, they're sticking in small car engines.
