It seems you misinterpreted the 4 month guarantee. If backer's don't receive their rewards within 4 months after the delivery date of February 2024(campaign delivery date) and you still haven't received any tracking with a feasible date then you can request a refund. The fault of the shipper refers to the shipper having the correct information say to send to your house and they send it somewhere else that wasn't specified on the order that's a fault on them. Them not sending your items is not excluded from this guarantee. It's worded like this because this is a huge risk for us and if the whole world shuts down due to a pandemic obviously there's nothing we can do about this. There's nothing funny going on here and we are taking a tremendous risk by offering this guarantee. Also one other note, each campaign is actually 30 quests. I've played through Tanares from beginning to end. Here are my high-level takeaways: 1. The game is extremely well-designed and has received an inordinate amount of effort from its developers. Once you read through the rulebook and (especially) campaign book, you'll realize that this game is far more intricately designed than most other co-op campaign games out there. 2. The combat is fairly deep and satisfying but does lean towards finding the best way to kill enemies to generate resources for the team. Healing is not a productive use of resources and instead should be focused on helping the party damage-dealer deal more damage. 3. The entire campaign gives a thorough experience of creating an army and fighting a foe that responds to your actions. Each scenario has a unique set of rules/objectives, and your decisions outside of combat actually have an impact on how that scenario is set up, sometimes significantly. 4. If it weren't for the top 3 points, I wouldn't recommend this game given its high cost. However, having played it once, I do think it's worth the $129 Standee price for sure. Less so the $189 Ultimate price unless someone really loves the PvP aspect. Btw, this game gave me massive D&D 4th edition vibes, so if that's something you miss, give this game a try.

I decided during the 2nd KS for Tanares that this would be my one "all in" game, but after getting everything out on 3 tables and then spending over a week to organize and sleeve, (which were not consistent thickness between 1st and 2nd wave and now nothing realistically fits back in the boxes), then trying to follow the campaign's introduction back and forth between 5 books and still feeling somewhat overwhelmed and lost, I can't help but feel let down by the developers that this new KS will set me back over $200 (on top of the already $1000+) to fix and streamline all these issues. Anyway, thanks for listening, great video once again and your #1 definitely hits home, but I am already looking at S&S KS that launched today and my ability to find room in my collection!

I agree with a lot of your points. The craziness of their previous campaign page with all their stuff all over the place, turned me off from their previous kickstarter. But now that I had a chance to review and read the BGG comments, watch gameplay videos, I decided this one is for me. Especially now that they are consolidating some of those boxes together.

I completely agree with you around the 13:00 mark comparing the standee to ultimate versions. Standees says you get 4 huge monsters, but ultimate only gets 1 huge monster. Why?!? And what are "scenario" standees, of which you get 13 standees, but isn't even mentioned in the ultimate version. And to add to that, you get Medusa in ultimate version, but maybe or maybe not in Standee version? It's so confusing. So, I was pushed to get the Essential Gameplay (ultimate/mini) version of the game. Also, why do we have so many names for this version? One chart says "ultimate", the pledge is essentials, other places says miniatures version.... But, I've watched gameplay videos and think I'll really enjoy going through the campaign.

Listening to you talk about how you struggle with narrative… have you ever tried Gloom of Kilforth? I feel like you’d really enjoy it; it’s epic and builds a narrative with a goal but with pretty much no text to read

All of these rules apply to me! Unfortunately, I backed Arena back in the day, and it's obligatory to continue backing new releases/editions/tiny modifications that cost hundreds (?) of the same games (or expansions) to make sure I have a complete all in 😁

Amazing vid! Poor future Chris taking on the collective FOMO to bring sense back into the world. I had initially backed because DRAGON mini!!, but I came to my senses LOL. When you look more into the gameplay it becomes clear that they took some of the worst parts of 4E and to have that stretch out for 100+ hrs would end up being mind-numbing, just like 4E was. Character development is a little limited as well so you don't get that feeling of growth. You are right, most of us have so many of these campaign games, on the shelf or on the way, that another one will take up space for for imagined distant future. Keep the vids coming.

Apparently the PvP is pretty good...and can also be played solo if you like. It's definitely a game with a lot of different play modes. I have yet to do more than unbox and punch mine tho XD

By far the most helpful in making my decision on my next big game. This looks like the game that best fits my gameplay style and aspects but the time, complexity and size all make it a no for me, unfortunately. I will regret not getting this I am sure, but just dont have that kind of time. My favorite game is Gloomhaven but this makes Gloomhaven look like Uno or go fish. I am getting the new League of Dungeoneers though. But, honestly if the cost wasnt so high i would still buy it. For me the only level that I would want is the Ultimate with some addons so with shipping it is ~$450! That is ALOT for me as I only get to buy one or maybe 2 big games a year so my criteria and interest in a game like this has to be higher than most.

I already own Arena and Tanares, although haven't played the latter yet. The PvP aspect wasn't popular with players but there is a campaign in Arena as well. I use the PvP to try characters out. I am also a miniature painter and so minis are a big part of my hobby. I don't think I would be interested in buying tons of minis if I wasn't going to paint them? I am backing the upgrade and the minis from the rpg. Not decided on the apartment sized box yet.

Just wanted to point out to you Chris that while reading through the comments of the KS, they are currently looking into adding more of the content into Standee pledges. However thag means the creation of more expensive Standee pledges so it could mitigate the savings...

Its too late for me Chris. I am 11 campaign games deep including upcoming kickstarters. It started with Etherfields and then went all downhill for me. I also already own Tanares thanks to a certain Boardgameco. Eventually I'll find the time.... I hope.

Great video. Thanks Backing. Tanares is one of best modern crawlers. PvP is inferior, enough content with just adventures. So standee and gameplay essential offers good value, then add on extra bling with incremental board game content if you like.

I think I'll stay away from this because I don't want Arena and probably wouldn't want just the Standee version without the extra campaigns. And I do have a few campaign games now and this one doesn't seem super different from what I have in my collection (as opposed to for example ISS Vanguard, which I want to pick up at some point, which is different from all my other campaign games due to theme/setting). I love your videos but one point is debatable and one is just not valid (it’s understandable because you didn’t play the game): the debatable point is playing multi-handed. This is true but the designers thought about this and created a « comrade » mode where you play one full character and the other 3 are simplified versions. Me, I love playing 4 full characters but the comrade version seems well thought out and people who play it seem to enjoy it. The not valid point is the line of sight one. This iq one of the easiest and most forgiving games about LoS, really, don’t let the diagrams fool you, I never had one time where LoS was a concern. About the comments people made, I wanted to make two corrections: first, this is not a « puzzle game ». I played Gloomhaven and this was a puzzle game that punished you for not using the right solution, this one is no more puzzly than your standard d&d session, you make decisions, some are better than others and some will make things more difficult (and some are dead ends but charging that dragon with your dagger never was that great of an idea anyway). I hate puzzle scenarios in boardgames or videogames and had a blast playin TA. The second thing is about healing. Healing does make a difference if you use it smartly. Of course, healer characters are much more than HP givers but I found that hitting your enemy for a few HP but, at the same time, giving back 5 to 10 HP to a few allies does make the difference between your tank going through the whole scenario and burning those first aid tokens. Overall, this game is simply great as every reviewer would tell you and the most glowing praise is that when reviewers compare campaign games, most of them say TA is the most fun.

I had no intention on backing this... still don't. BUT, reason number 1 drove the point home of why I shouldn't back Oathsworn. I was going to back the mini version WITH terrain and spend over $450 CAD to get it to my place. I just don't have the time or space for it. Thanks for saving me $450 of dust collecting boxes!

I dont have any campaign board games. Do you have to keep the game out for the 200 hours to play it? My house is way to small for that haha. Also, id be pissed if i paid over $800 for the painted mini figures and only a handful were painted.

I wish they had arena the contest available without the co-op. I love co-op games but I don't want one with an 80 page rule book. I'd rather have arena the contest just the pvp stuff with standees for 50 or 60

I got hyped, because of recomended party composition. I thought it would be like dungeons in MMORPGs, where healer heals a lot, tank is actually soaking a lot of damage and damage dealers.... deal damage xD What diminshed the hype, was Alex Redcliff's gameplay video and that, because of two reasons. 1. Mana cube regenartion is tied to killing monsters and cubes are required to do most of the uttility like healing and tanking. Monsters choose targets on specific conditions and it doesn't look like you could keep forcing them to attack tank, as it would require to many mana cubes from the tank to pull of. In terms of healing, healing is greatly outpaced by damage monsters deal. Even damage to monsters is strange, as lots of it come from retaliation damage, when monster is walking away from hero or from enviourment damage, instead of damage dealing heroes. It just ruins those role based party composition for me. 2. Itemization. I love gearing up in video games and I'm looking for board games, where I can do the same. That's the reason I have All-In of Massive Darkness 2 and I've backed and waiting for Middara and Primal: The Awekening. Amount of gear in this game and impact on build of a character in those two games looks to be tremendous. In Tanares, it looks like they give small boost to roll or hp and one more buff that is in Gloomhaven fashion, one time use. Why there are no board games with gear slots for head, shoulders, hands, chest, pants, boots, knee pads, elbow pads, belt, trinkets, rings, main-hand and off-hand? xD

This looks nice but is too much for my liking and honestly I feel like it's too much for many people and it will just dust away on a shelf. You need to have so much time and DEDICATED space for this. Also, the excitement of seeing what these boxes hold means absolutely nothing when you have a fulltime job and kids to look after. I'd rather stick to 1-2 hr sessions on weekends (Rising sun) with much quicker setup. No Thank you.

I am going for standee version maybe with standee gameplay add-on. After short period of excitement of minis I now prefer games with few minis and/or standees. They are easier to setup, take up less storage space and already are in full color.

For that price all Miniatures should be painted! Especially the heroes you will be using all the time! I decided to cancel my pledge and loose that free beautiful dragon miniature!

The fact that the cosmetic all in pledge does not include all the minis painted seems almost purposely deceitful.

You "gave" 5 reasons why one should not back... I could point you to a dozen of fellow reviewers which I follow who would say otherwise. But the campaign itself gives a ton of reasons why is a good back. I mean, the company is trustworthy, the game is very well-praised, it´s on a lot of top lists, the artwork is stunning, the story seems enticing, the quality of the items is above the standard, etc... Even old backers seem surprised by KS' comments on how the offers to new backers turned out surprisingly good, which is a better indicator. So I won´t pass this last chance to get it, but thank you for trying with the clickbait title and everything

Talking about "trends" nowadays, it seems one is doing a video, being the smart guy, with a very clickbaity negative title about the most talked about game of the moment, to drive free views for little effort. No problem with such a series of videos, but if the others also come with the little effort part. You seem to not have played or even followed the Tanares series and it's showing by the amount of misinformation in just a few minutes. Arena is not only "PvP" it has its own multi-part epic campaign, with the beginning of the whole story. Its PvP is not an "afterthought", it's the main part of this game (hence the name Arena I guess), and responsible to get Tanares on the most anticipated lists for a lot of people, and even on BGG back then, given how balanced and tactical it is. You really do not get the 4 months policy thing, that is explained in updates nor exactly why they attend to the request of a standee version, nor what brings to the table. Also missed the exclusive rules that made it one of the most solo-friendly experiences ever. But you really lost me when you claimed "it should show more of the gameplay" when you have just that, one scrolling away, in the video sections. In my opinion, you should at least revert the questions you had to the responsible for the game/campaign, at least to sound more credible to those who didn´t know your channel outside of this exact (kind of) video. All in all, I will answer your question, I backed the original campaign of Tanares Adventures, you forgot to mention that this is mostly a reprint campaign attending the requests from those who missed it, I am playing it right now, and it replaced Oathsworn as the very best campaign game I have ever played. It is also praised by the miniatures community for how good the quality of the bunch of miniatures is, so it is more of one liking or wishing to try a huge game with good miniatures, that is majorly looked at as a good deal than purely FOMO hence why maybe the miniatures version is being backed so much more. It is all nice to be the anti-Fomo guy who will save your wallet but is nice to remember that just two months ago, this game and its add-ons were being sold out in the secondary market for more than double its value right now. I am glad they decide to put this out, so I can complete my game but is a thing that everyone should be aware of, so they do not get frustrated when this game pops into even more top lists, but you can only get it for excoriating prices since they already mentioned that it will be a long time now before making this available again, if at all for some minor items. But I guess talking about such things, do not get you the many amount of views and audience likes and claps.
