Great stuff here for accompanying reggae/dub! I have always counted reggae in half time? I mean the classic guitar chops on 2 &4 with the snare drop on 3, bass drum emphasizing 1st & 3rd, counting as eighths. I don't know if this could cause any incongruities but I find it a lot easier....
@rosslmccallum
@rosslmccallum 4 жыл бұрын
Dave Argall I’ve counted it that way too in the past. When I heard about “the one drop” meaning you don’t hit beat one, I changed how I counted it. But the feel is still the same so I didn’t notice probably!

#5 is rooted in a right-lead paradiddle, eh?
@rosslmccallum
@rosslmccallum 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Not so much. The first part is indeed RLRR. However a paradiddle would continue RLRR LRLL. It's kind of a custom hitting order that worked best for getting the constant bass as well as a shuffling ghost note rhythm together.
