In this video I’m going to teach you 2 basic Reggae grooves for the Cajon. The first one is the One Drop which was created in the 60’s by Carlton Barrett, drummer for Bob Marley and the Wailers. The second groove is a variation of One Drop and it’s called The Rockers groove. If you enjoy this video give it a Like and Subscribe to the channel, Thanks!

I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for throwing yourself out there, Felipe. I can absolutely recommend his Cajon Foundation Course. It's very well structured and beautifully designed. The concise exercises are part of my daily practice. And Felipe just peps it up with his big smile. I'll be one of the first ones to enroll in more advanced courses. Best from Berlin, Chris

Really find your tutorials helpful, thanks so much! However, in the One Drop demo, it sounds like when you come out of the fill at 3:56, the kick lands on the one of the bar, so it’s no longer One Drop. Still, nice vid, thanks!

Fala querido.

@leonardomizrahi6479
@leonardomizrahi6479 4 жыл бұрын
@CajonMaster
@CajonMaster 4 жыл бұрын
Obrigado!😉

If I want to practice One drop Along with a metronome (because your video’s jam section isn’t long enough) , how do I set it to swing? Spaced triplets isn’t right nor is dotted eighth, sixteenth notes.
@CajonMaster
@CajonMaster 3 жыл бұрын
I think you can set to swing in a metronome app called “Impulse metronome”. Try it and let me know if it works

need help: Hola Felipe ? You chanel is very good I like it a lot, but I need help. I can play the reggae beat like that...but when a music is on, it is soo sooo difficult to play the bass on number 2 , for example count on me....I always beat the bass tone in one .....but you say it has to be nr two counting the beat. Could you make a video playing this reggae beat on musik counting aloud? So I could see and hear you playing the bass 1 two 3 4 . That would be great. Thank you for answering. Carmen

Hey !! Cool . The ONE DROP Have to be play on 3 ..... not 1....
@CajonMaster
@CajonMaster 5 ай бұрын
Agreed, but it depends how you subdivide the groove. For this tutorial I count it as 16th notes. The bass accent of the one drop is in the 2 and 4. If you count as 8th notes the bass accent is in the 3. It’s all matter how we subdivide the pattern. But of course never on the 1. This is an old reggae tutorial. Have a look in my latest reggae tutorial on the channel. Let me know what do you think. Thanks for you comment here 😉🙏
