Rool (Only superheavy out of the seven, but can autocancel Fair and Dair out of a full hop.) Movement is vastly underrated. People don’t spend enough time literally trying stuff like dash to pivot dtilt, or dash to backflip rar, and getting them consistent, like 50 in a row. It hugely helps with so many things, everyone knows how to press buttons, but when you accidentally dash too far, or buffer a dash off a ledge or something silly all your combos don’t matter because you’re just a bumbling target.

I’ve never been the most competitive player, but I could pretty well beat anyone in my friend group back in Melee and Brawl with any character in the game, and I think what always gave me the advantage was knowing how all my opponents characters worked. Where as of Wii U and Ultimate, between the lack of time from adulting and the massive roster to get an understanding of’, I can barely hold my own anymore 🤣 match up knowledge was my best friend back in the day. I remember being so fluent with each fighter I could see a friend or pro do a crazy combo, then have it learned just by watching it and could perform it first try the next time I use that fighter, and even assess its effectiveness and apply it to other characters that could be used in that particular way base on frame data and other similarities. In Ultimate I’ve got a few bread and butter combos I can preform, and next to no Match Up knowledge 😅

Landing at a certain time after doing an aerial to cancel its lag, it is different for every move.

Some characters have a window where if u you use the move at a certain time you have very little endlag, characters that rising shorthops auto cancel are like pika down air and wolf back air
@tylerzelanick92833 жыл бұрын
Every aerial has an auto cancel window. An auto cancelling window could be like frame 1-2 or frame 47-60 You auto cancel by landing in the auto cancel window, If you Auto cancel a move, there will be no lag for the move, there will be 2 frames of lag though, if I'm not mistaken.
@tylerzelanick92833 жыл бұрын
Any questions?
@jean-alexandre55943 жыл бұрын
Areal moves sometimes have a specific amount of endlag when you come back to the ground after doing them (for exemple sephiroth uair, where he lands and you cannot immediately act afterwards). Auto canceling then is when you come down back to the ground, after a specific amount of time, which causes this landing lag to dissappear (exemple g&w dair, when you land immediately after inputting it, you have a lot of lag bc g&w is stuck in the landing dair animation, but if you do it from higher up, when he lands, the dair is no longer active, which causes the lag to dissappear. In conclusion, the autocanceling window for a move, is a specific time window, in which you land after an areal that removes a moves landing lag, this is always dependant of the move, and every areal has a different autocanceling window. Hope that helps

Won't get you to 100% but it really helps to build muscle memory for your combos and spacing. Just have to be ready to branch off from the basic flowchart that works vs CPUs once you get into a real match. Tldr: gives a shallow boost that you can later build upon, imo.
@h4rdtr3 жыл бұрын
I play against cpu's almost everyday (usually level 7-9) for about 30 minutes. I dont take the matches seriously and use them as more of an exercise to practice things like spacing, approaching, neutral, movement, shield pressure, ledge traps, combos(w/e i feel like needs work). Just know cpu's are pretty dumb and will often pick the same horrible options over and over. Dont play to win but to experiment. You can set the stock count high up too so you can practice for a while.

What I’d like for whatever comes next in Smash, is make Smash meter Final Smashes viable for non-item play. So many of these moves are so sick, but the balance on them is SO TERRIBLE. Some are literal instakills, then you get shit like Sonic where it’s basically useless. Hell, I’d settle for a “Balanced Smash Meter” setting so that all the final smashes are on a level playing field. Even if it never makes it to true comp, I’d like to be able to enable Smash meter without the fear of a Snake or Zelda cheesing me with bullshit Final Smashes that have almost no counter play
@socksleeve3 жыл бұрын
At the same time, I love how crazy some of the final smashes are, and I wouldn’t want them to neuter Final Smashes in favor of balance. Maybe just balance the ones that are complete trash like Sonic, maybe Mario, and balance the ones like Zelda, Snake, and Peach so it doesn’t turn each match into “oh that guy has a Final Smash, I’m gonna die with almost no possible counter play because Peach just put me to sleep”

I thought this was 5 ways to improve smash, and I was so hyped cause there are so many problems with this game to the point where I don't even wanna play this game anymore. I'm sorry, I'm sure Sakurai is a really cool guy IRL and is really nice and stuff, but man, he has to be the worst game developer on the planet. There are issues that this game has had since day one of ultimate and they still haven't been fixed. I remember watching one of Zero's older videos and he said that during the ultimate invitational when he played with Mkleo, he and Mkleo told the developers like 5 things that are bad with this game and that they should fix and to this day they haven't been fixed. All Sakurai does is add new characters in the game and every patch has really bad. There have been some major nerfs to characters such as joker, Pichu, and Wario, and while they are all still viable characters, they just aren't fun to play as anymore. All of his other patches have just been, oh ur Nair does 1% more damage, or you're f-smash launches your opponent 1-meter further. Like my 2-year-old cousin could make these patches. Yea it's nice to see more characters but there's no point in putting new characters if nobody is going to play your game in the first place. I'm sorry for going on a little rant there. There are just so many problems with ultimate and I don't feel as though Sakurai is doing his best. Ik covid has made updating the game more difficult and stuff but even before covid, Sakurai hasn't done anything with the game. Is very evident that he puts all of his time into making DLC characters and focusing on the actual game.
