Step three: cast Gather Animals, designating, "Poisonous Snake" Step four: cast minor illusion to give yourself a booming voice, Walk into the Temple while declaring yourself a God as the snakes approach and bite you by the hundreds, but do no damage, amd demand whatever tribute you desire. Step five: Leave, and Profit.

*DM:* You're in the Dark Lord's lair in the middle of the jungle and he's started monologuing. What do you do? *Me:* I cast _Gather Animals._ *DM:* The Dark Lord sees you start casting the spell, but ignores it since it's so weak. What do you want to call on? Panthers? Gorillas? *Me:* Army Ants. *DM:* _...oh no_

A use for Gather Animals: Get a familiar, then go find Xanathar's lair in the sewers of waterdeep, then before entering his main chamber, send in your familiar that you turned invisible, and have them Name "Rat" while casting this spell through them. He probably has a contingency plan for that, but it's a decent distraction to start a surprise round.

The fact that Evolve Beast isn't on the Ranger list makes me die inside.

I got the book because I like your KZfaq content. I can say it is really well made and am completely happy with the finished product. From great critters, to a few amazing spells and the progression/bond you can form with said critters are fun additions to dnd. I mean buy this an you have almost all you need for a pokemon/digimon campaign. Also the Cthulhu content was specially made for me and I thank you. The Yetling(yeetling) and the Shub(shrubbery) are amazing and I love them.

Evolve Beast is my favorite spell in the book! It's something that perfectly fits my chaotic neutral wizard Rowan Netherkeep. They're a human obsessed with monsters and in constant pursuit of any and all information they can obtain regarding their biology, habitat, and behaviour. With this spell they can create their own monsters instead of conjuring them. The Tasha's spells have also helped a lot in making Rowan's spells be more on theme

Gather Animals makes me want to cast it in the middle of the king's throne room and summoning all spiders, then laugh maniacally as the spiders begin to crawl all over everyone in the room and I am slowly buried in the mass of spiders.

After last session in Waterdeep with my gnome bard, my DM is going to dread me having the first spell. There were a ton of pigeons in the side rooms at the top of the windmill, two cultist goons had the McGuffin and had locked themselves into the small room at the top. With the noise of hundreds pigeons gathering for food outside the door, the floors covered in pigeon excrement, and a rope across the side doorways, the trap was set. Unseen servant opened the door quietly and slowly, once open the monk yeeted a loaf of bread into the room creating a pigeon smoke screen. The goons ran out, slipping on the pigeon crap, tripped over the rope, and were immediately captured. It was like a home alone movie! Needless to say this isn't my first speak with animals escapade, but this definitely got them to ponder my sanity.

Screech sense sounds like a cool way to compensate for the lack of darkvision among other things. And call animals just sounds fun to use in conjunction with spells like talk to animals. Summoning circle is a great spell to have for your big bad evil guy. And Evolve animal is perfect for those many companions/minions.

Backer number: 2966 Not sure if you still want us to say what our favorite part of the book is, but honestly the best part is that you included rules to make the pet feel like an actual pet who needs to be interacted with. You could of just had the pet be there without that stuff but adding that bit just adds so much interest and value

The critters are so creative and fun but honestly my favourite part is library of regular beasts that are strangely absent from the core 5e books, combined with the bonding mechanics it makes it exactly what I was looking for to expand on familiars in my games. So if your looking for a good addition to your low CR bestiary to add more options for pets or familiars that are also amazingly illustrated, then I definitely recommend getting a copy of this book.

An arc of Lightning springs from your fingertip Make a melee spell attack against the target. You have advantage on the attack roll if the target is wearing armor made of metal. On a hit, the target takes 1d6 lightning damage, it can’t take reactions and its speed is reduced to 0 until the start of your next turn. A living creature that failed all his death saving throws can make one more(per turn), this only apply until four minutes after the failed death saving throws. The spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).

Always love getting new spells. I have a pseudo-god in my games who is kinda like Wan Shi Tong from ATLA, and I keep as many homebrew and separately packaged unofficial spells in a document so that I can have fun surprises for my players when they visit.

I recently grabbed up a PDF copy of the book and have incorporated it into my ongoing 5e game. So far the PCs are loving their new Pokemon, and were immediately asking about whether or not monster dueling is canon within my version of the campaign setting.

Another one of my favourite parts of the book is just how damn nice it looks. Not many 3rd-party books look this good! It makes it super easy and fun to read and constantly has me coming back to reread things because of how great it looks! - Feodor Romanenkov :)

Fun fact: according to the DMG increasing a creature's AC and bonus to hit by 2 increases its CR by one step, and vice versa. This is an handy tool

Having already read my PDF of the book, Circle of Summoning was definitely super appealing to me. Especially so, because I had just read Tasha's Cauldron of Everything and the new summoning spells in that seem to me like the perfect duet with this one. As a DM, I'd introduce the combination to my players, but still limit them to only one long-term summon at a time. Or maybe not, it's two spell slots (one of which is at least 5th level) per minion, so I don't know, seems legit to me.

the constrictor snake bit is extra funny now that I've seen crap guide to DMing I can just imagine Logan casting a 9th level Conjure Animals together with Summoning Circle and just chilling out with his 72 snake friends

In a game I played early on, I was given a magic item similar to the first spell, but less refined. It was a horn that summoned exactly fifty goats to my location. It was..... More useful than expected

These spells are legit! I homebrew a lot myself and it's so hard to make spells that are simultaneously interesting and good but not too good. All of these hit that balance perfectly! Seriously - these are spells that should have come with the game.

Ok now i need this book, was debating on it before because money, but im definatly going to see if i can get it.

All I can think of now is a ranger with a Mohawk, warhammer, and boar beast companion casting Gather Animals and yelling “Hog Rider”

Well, I confess that I came through these videos looking for commentary on one companion in particular: the Burnling. Not that it's the only one I'd love more commentary on, but it's the one I'm currently fumbling about trying to think about how they play.

Evolve Beast seems like something out of Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica's Simic Combine and I love it.

A Druid-Wizard duo with more money than sense could go into a forest and amass an army of awakened, evolved creatures to unleash on their enemies. There's a plot hook for you--the party can't believe it when it hears that a nearby village has been ransacked by a legion of adorable flying bunnies, and if they go to investigate, you get to reenact that scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Btw ive been the extensively sense my party loves having pets so I'm very happy with it so far thank you fir creating all this

Speaking of "Gather Animal" i created a spell after fucking up saying vicious mockery and instead said "vicious monkey" and what became of it was "a banana is used to summon a number of random monkeys/apes and they show up and beat up literally anyone, they have no bias".

I think gather animals is my new favorite spell of all time as now I can reenact the pied Piper fable, first we gather all the rats then we find out what the challenge rating of a child is
