Hear the bass here: • Nate Porter Demos His ... . Stay tuned! I was curious how my Apeiron model would translate in to a more traditional bass build, so I made it with 5 strings and a whammy! lol! Stay tuned next week to hear them and meet the new owner.
The first song in the video is available for download here: newperspective...

Hey Tim. This is super nice work, your builds always inspire me. I build electric versions of the Mexican bajo quinto, you inspire me to just build it how I see it instead of fitting into something more standardized, thanks!

I always love the idea of a bass with a vibrato or tremolo and this is just awesome. I think reclaimed wood projects are badass and great for the environment plus making an amazing and functional project is even better.

That's what my Saturday night needed! I'm really liking the look of the grain showing through the black. And a whammy bar on a bass! That's not something you see every day.

I was going to say that you should tape off the pickups/magnets when doing fret work. Then again, you don’t follow any typical rules and this is why I love your work. Rock on!

I'll admit it, this body style is growing on me. Somehow feels perfect on this one. Love the dyed black oak here, and the psychedelic black locust is still wild to me. My folks had a huge black locust in front of their house for as long as I can remember. It died several years ago and the city cut it down. If I had known what it could do at the time I would have tried to save some of it. Good to see you back on the Tubes. Thanks for sharing!

Top mount kahler bass trem would work awesome.. Beautiful work and beautiful bass man. Also I would tape the pickups while doing the fret leveling and crowning just to be safe if they are sealed and potted units I wouldnt worry as much but with exposed pole pieces you could potentially short the pickup with the shavings.
@DoctorBollocks
@DoctorBollocks 2 жыл бұрын
I like the choices you've made there on hardware and pickup - the trem looks great fun (esp. a 5 string one) and a single no-mucking-about MM pickup with big pole pieces. The curved extended scale fretboard too looks cool. The body wood was in a right state but under the surface in great condition. That's a nice build.

@@Jihadbearzwithgunz Yeah you could take a thicker piece of wood and make it the same shape but route out the inside so it fits in the current route and just sticks a little proud yet be inset I think that would look awesome! Having tremolo plate be proud isn't that uncommon, most Stratocasters have it.

I get where you're coming from about the back plate. Not as intended and therefore irritating. But it's a small sacrifice in the grand scheme of things and it was an experiment to take lessons from.
