In today's video, I discuss the 5 things I cut from my extreme budget that I don't miss at all. And those I do.
This video follows on from part 1 where I shared with you my extreme budget to move abroad, where I'm trying to save 80% of my income. Of course I am very lucky to be able to live rent free at my parents for a few months, so I just wanted to acknowledge that!
There are many costs associated with moving, as well as dealing with the cost of living crisis, so I wanted to share what I'm personally doing to save as much money as possible. It helps enormously that I live a minimalist and zero waste lifestyle, as this helps to reduce my income by not purchases new items, or items in general very often!

Great video! Looking lovely 🚶‍♀️👩🌈 Could you do a budget video on your weekly food shopping? Also do you review your budget each week / month? Once you reach certain money goals, what is your plan to do with extra money?

@Sustainably Vegan Hey Immy just a question. Where will you move in the US? Because with recent changes you could be denied essential healthcare with changes in abortion laws. Just a bit worried for you.

@@woolypuffin392 Thank you for your concern! We won't be moving to a state that restricts reproductive rights, however, if more and more restrictions become commonplace then we will rethink our plan of how long we stay in the US.

To me… budgeting is all about creating possibilities through self-discipline. By understanding what we really want in life, we can then mould our decisions (whether they are monetary based or not) around our dreams, goals, and aspirations. Knowing one’s core values is the foundation for self-discipline and empowerment. It always brings me back to one of my fave mottos… Discipline = Freedom. Thanks, Immy, for sharing all your thoughts, inspirations, and lifestyle choices with us. People such as you who are ‘interesting and interested’ contribute so much to my thoughts, learning, and happiness. 💦🌎Ⓜary💕

Side Note Comment: “Silence in the Morning” shapes my thoughts and allows me to structure my day. Mobility, meditating, coffee ritual, desk-clearing, and powering myself up for my day are all positively influenced by quiet me-time in the morning. I totally get you on this one Immy. Also… hobbies (imho) are the key to quality time spent at home (or in the outdoors). I find that having hobbies/activities that we truly enjoy contributes to spending less money on random purchases. These are just two things that really work for me. Thank-you for allowing me to share my thoughts here in your space Immy. I appreciate you and this community soooo much!! 💦🌎Ⓜary💕

Hi there a couple of years ago i had for my word of the year it was ENOUGH, and that brought me so much contentment, if i asked myself before i bought something have i enough, and if the answer was yes, i would put that item back. Interestingly when i walked away i didnt feel deprived or lacking or resentful because i had enough, and i learnt so much from that. I still do this because i hate being greedy and talking bag after bag to the charity shop whilst still in debt duh, to rid myself of more and more etc, honestly. I have decluttered to the point when i feel i have eliminated enough and now i feel i can treat myself or just indulge i do not want to deny myself pleasures and treats and joy of things, its been a long journey. Hope all goes well in your new adventure in the USA.

I’m on a tight budget to allow me to study. Some of the main things that have helped it I use a home eyebrow tint kit and also hair scissors so that I can do top-ups in between hair dresser visits (I now go 1-2 times a year. One of my main pleasures is knitting but I am using my yarn stash before buying any more. Other than that I think I lead quite a frugal life.

New suscriber here, I wanted to thank you for your content that I've been binge-watching and that genuinely inspired me to pick up on minimalism and low waste so much more than I do ! Funny thing is that decision has been made just a few days ago for me to move to Sweden to join my partner, so I started to declutter as much as I can to have as little as possible to take up there. I tried to maintain a low budget and to declutter before in my life, but actually having that goal to move abroad is motivating me so much more. Guess I was lacking a purpose ! I'm even setting up a no spending month in July as I have so much to eat in my pantry and basically too much stuff to justify any purchase ^^' I'll definitely enjoy watching your future videos about your own process as they're a real inspiration to me :)

Thank you for speaking on coffee. Often when people talk about budgeting they demonize the daily cup which is such a small fraction of what you’re buying on the regular. Yes it adds up, but move the big rocks first and enjoy a local cafe coffee in your reusable cup a couple times a week is going to keep your lifestyle while not breaking the bank. And often they have loyalty programs that help. You can also buy your beans from them which helps both you and the shop. (Obviously not talking about the major coffee conglomerates lol)

Belts gloves ect.. are not as good as doing functional conditioning for your body. I’ve been working with a trainer for about two years on lifting and I’ve gotten up to lifting more than my own body weight (deadlifting) and I also have back problems so I really wanted to build the back muscles! As I’ve been trying to reduce overall this has helped me know that I don’t need that new thing everyone has at the gym!

Hey! Lovely video and great food for thought when it comes to budgeting. I would just be mindful of using words like extreme to describe your budget as it’s very subjective and highlights the class disparities when it comes to budgeting. Ie. cutting down on subscriptions and not spending on eating out, might be extreme to you, but those things are very lavish when you compare it to people whose budget has to consider whether they can afford covid tests as well as food that week. Not a criticism - I know class is something you’re consistently mindful of in your content, and I wouldn’t bring it up if I thought it wasn’t something you cared about Lovely content as always!

Hey Georgia, thank you for your comment and sorry for the late response! You're totally right, and you've given me a lot of food for thought. These comments are really important and its definitely ok to criticise people like myself who make content and miss the mark on things like this. Going forward I will definitely not be calling my budget 'extreme' and will be more mindful of the language I use. Sometimes I let the KZfaq algorithm cloud my judgement on how to name videos, and what to call the actions I'm taking, so this is a good reality check for me. I appreciate you commenting and please know that you have been heard and that I've taken what you've said on board. Immy xx

£90 gym membership??? That's insane! In Preston, you can find it as cheap as £19.99. But if you are a student or a staff member at a local uni - even cheaper £9.99. Of course those exclude swimming pools, but if you are only there for a "dry" exercise then it good enough. Aren't there any cheaper options in London?

My question is do you ever have relationship anxiety? Or have you ever had it since you’ve been in long distance for so long. I am in a similar situation and get anxious and overthink way too much because I can’t handle the unknown
@madeleinetremblay9315
@madeleinetremblay9315 2 жыл бұрын
I know you were asking her, but I have a few things to say. First of all, we know communication is always super important in any relationship, but even more so in long distance since you aren't in person to read body language etc. Let them know you have these anxieties and tell them if there is anything they can do to make you feel more secure. Schedule check ins every so often, once a month for example. So you can discuss what is working for you and what is not, and just to make sure nothing gets built up over time. Ultimately being in tune with your intuition is the most important, your gut feeling will tell you if it's right. Ask yourself if the distance and anxiety is worth it, or if it gives you more stress than the relationship is worth. make a pros and cons list and imagine how you would feel without this person. Good luck!

I mean this with utmost sincerity because I love your channel and your lifestyle, but please, please convince your partner to move to the UK, don't move here. We're overrun with white supremacists, senseless shootings, and leadership that doesn't care one iota about the people. Healthcare will drain your savings in seconds. Higher education is out of reach. Half the country is blinded by conspiracy theories. Many of us are trying to leave but don't have the resources. No one can stop you if you really want to come here, but don't give up your citizenship. America gives nothing and takes everything. You deserve so much more.
