The windshield wipers need to be in service mode to replace them. They stay in upright position and it is very easy to replace. As far as getting in and out, I’m 6.2, 220lbs and I can in and out just fine. Yes, the sunglasses pocket kinda sucks. The turbo lag is easily fixed with a tune. It transforms the car for about $450. It becomes a little beast. The cup holders are fine but not great, maybe I’ve been lucky for the past 8 years, haven’t spill anything. Drive it more, you will eventually fall in love it it. Just remember, it is an economy car after all, compared to other economy cars in the category the Jetta wagon is awesome.

For the wipers, put the key in the ignition, turn the key forward (don’t start it), then turn it back off. Now pull the wiper switch down. That puts them into Service Mode so you can lift them off the windshield normally. Don’t know why they did it that way. Also, I loved the bird rescue!

Wipers turn the car off, DON'T remove the key, now hit the wipers, they will go to the top left and stay there.

The wipers can be manually rotated to change the blades, the water catch should drain on a level parking surface. These are tuned for maximum mpg and the emissions fix only exacerbated the turbo lag. DSG is a manual with computer controlled shifting and it anticipates what you want by what you do. Simple adjustment to driving practices will greatly increase the life of the clutch pack: 1. Completely release brake from a stop, even while creeping forward 2. Let the car roll before pressing the accelerator, this eliminates the heart attack lag 3. Use the "S" gear position only while driving in slower speed zones(≤45 mph) 4. Don't use the manual shift mode. lol

I have a Volkswagen TDI 2014 Jetta and when you said that you about not being able to get out of your car I relate. I'm 6-1 so getting it is not that big of a deal but getting out it is annoying

The window reveal has a drain - its plugged if it holds water. The mini swimming pool is not a design feature. Read your manual - wiper issue solved. 8” of clearance is actually pretty good - go measure a Honda Accord ground clearance. Tunes are plentiful and cheap for these cars - for the engine and the DSG transmission. European cars in general either don’t have cup holders or have small ones, because doing anything other than driving your car in Europe (eating or drinking) is frowned upon. Less weed, more research.

Anyone else here super glad the car isn’t taller!!?? Fuel mileage would be waayyyy worse. Think that’s one main reason those of us that own one got it..

Turbo lag normal, I mean the CJAA motors (2.0 tdi in there) only is rated at 140 hp. There are of course options available to look into for as upgrading the turbo or tuning (bearing in mind the effect that will have on the diesel extended warranty with the factory modifications done to it). Far as the wipers, when you turn the key off, can hit the wiper switch downwards one time and that will raise them into service position to change them or clean them. The hood has to be closed. They’ll stay up until you turn the key on and again hit the wiper switch. Hope that at least helps with that.

Could have done without the first 4 minutes of the video. Beyond that, water in front of the windshield is probably a clogged drain. You should definitely look into it. MrChasomar already mentioned the service setting for the wipers. Cup holders in German cars are never what most Americans want, but they are better than they used to be. Look at the crappy holders on most BMWs and Mercedes from 15 years ago. They were laughable little spring loaded things that broke 90% of the time and would never hold a top heavy drink. Getting in/out of a compact 4-door car is almost always going to be harder than getting into a coupe (Mustang) due to the narrower door opening. It is something you just have to get used to. Maybe do a sit and swivel move instead of trying to slide in.

In all modern cars and trucks the wipers and the hood barely coexist. You need to put them in the service mode, for us in the snow country we would use that mode every day in the winter. I too never liked how close to the ground the car sits. That was solved by replacing both stock front struts (& springs) and rear shocks and springs with bilstein B6 struts and shocks as well as lift springs. From idparts. My TDI Sportwagen is now noticeably higher. Ride is firm. I would never put my sun glasses there, that's for tooth picks. The cup holders and getting in and out: the less you stop at mickey d's the easier it will be getting in and out. For drinks try a latte from a local business owner. They will appreciate your patronage and your 12 oz. cup will fit and not fall over. The turbo lag: can't say I have ever experienced that, please note I have been driving diesel (w/turbo) cars and trucks for the last 20 years with manual transmissions. And feel that the 2011 TDI and both ram trucks are way over powered. Maybe that comes from the ability of being able to pick the gear I want to use not what the computer wants.
