Falling in love with starting is easy. Falling in love with finishing is hard. But, if you can learn to fall in love with the art of finishing - and the process of overcoming adversity, failures and working around obstacles - you'll consistently follow through on your ideas.

While I DO agree with what you say, in my own personal experience it goes like this: 1. Start a project and focus on it 2. Rule: Tell people to "piss off" who distract you FROM the project and Waste your time 3. Trust NOBODY other than yourself (you are safer that way) 4. Develop ways to do more things yourself WITHOUT asking for help from any losers that you can't depend on, and are totally unreliable and untrustworthy to start with 5. QUIT EVERYTHING other than the project you are actually focused on or task at hand, and if people have a problem with that tell them again to "Piss off" and if that doesn't work tell them to politely "Go F**K themselves"!! That is the only way things have worked in my book!! Oh sure people WILL call you a jerk or even worse, but they WILL NOT CALL YOU a procrastinator at all!!

3 years ago my uncle passed away and my family went to auction his stuff out. There was 30 years of unfinished projects everywhere, in cobwebs, rusted out etc. Thousands of dollars of tools, resources and equipment sitting around unused for lots of projects not started or unfinished. This taught me a lesson. That I don’t want to be like that. It made me sad that that was his legacy. Because of him I always make sure to finish what I start! I always finish projects and every time I buy resources I put them in use and immediately. As projects get finished over the years your surroundings look better and better and it’s easy to think of new projects and execute them. I did 3 projects yesterday and executed them just like I imagined. One project was putting up a cute childrens ceiling fan in my son’s room. I bought the fan off of marketplace for $10 in its box. The box looked beat up like the fan had been sitting in a garage for years…someone’s project they never started

Every other time I've decided my Saturday morning will be spent doing projects, I've just stayed in bed thinking about which one I should do. I think I shall try that again this weekend... -For 2 years I have been working on a long term small business & my skills in that area. -I graduated college into covid, no jobs available, but I had a great idea & spent 4 months 24/7 developing an app. Stopped progressing on my long term idea. -now I’m facing reality that I need a paying job, and should probably sorta stick to a career path to save enough money. So I stopped the 4 month project and started job hunting. But picked back up my long term business. I can only balance two plans realistically. Even that is a stretch. I feel like this is part of life everyone’s gotta face. Let go of some things you wanna do cause you just can’t do everything.

Teaching yourself art is hard. I nearly always finish what I start but what I am making is never really consistent.. If that makes scenes.

I knew this video was exactly for me when I saw the title. I immediately saved it to my watch later list. It's now in the queue as the number 415 on that list. I came to comment here first because at this rate I will never watch it.

I had a huge Watch Later list, which caused me stress. I deleted every video on the list, because some had remained there for weeks. If I don't watch a video now, I probably never will.

I do still need to work on my execution skills, anyway. No matter how great your concept is, it cannot succeed without great execution.

thanks for this, not sure why i feel helped, as i cant drop any of the goals im carrying and trying to turn into healthy habits and most o my issues are about getting distracted by videos that may help with my personal growth or regaining my health or working towards my future than actually DOING the personal growth etc lols so things such as meditation n exercise go out the window XD ... i'll sleep on it, 2morro is a new day :) just trying to focus on implementing the basics -sleep and diet n not going back onto nicotine and doing a bit more housework and daily flexibility exercises i guess thats enough to be going on with, likely im addicted to learning/new info XD just theres so much more i want to do .. learn spanish, dance classes, acroyoga/calisthenics/parkour, horseriding, money management and investing, philosophy, history, nutrition, gut microbiome, pre history, a classical education, leatherworking or some other craft and i still have 2 sewing projects i promised the results to my nan n mum that i havent touched for a whole month lols!

this is so me :'( recently started a youtube channel, learning the piano, working out, reading, baking i ended up procrastinating and doing less.

Absolutely. I had plans to learn 4 languages fluently, master piano, write books, translate, work as an editor... It is just exhausting considering all of these plans! Now that I have cut back to just focusing on writing, the stress has tumbled off a cliff.

I find it easy to finish because the thing that keeps me motivated is the end result, not the idea or the work. But, I don't usually start something if I don't have the confidence that I can finish it. And, I don't start something that requires depending on other people unless it is necessary. Relying on others usually brings disappointment. I despise procrastination because it is the end result that motivates me. If the end result won't be something I am excited about, I won't start it. I don't mean the payoff, but the actual results of the work itself. The best part is standing back and seeing the finished work. I must say I have a very difficult time respecting people who don't finish what they start. That is one of my failures. I can't comprehend the purpose of being busy but never accomplishing anything. People who do that seem to have chaotic and messy lives.

Nope. Got unstuck by getting rid of years-old projects that I didn't absolutely love. If it was iffy, I passed it on to the thrift store. Felt immediate relief, not loss.

I haven't left the house apart from going to the local shop now and again. When my husband said yesterday for us to go for a drive then go for a walk...... Inside threw me in to sheer panic. I didn't even go into the kitchen yesterday let alone the garden. No idea how to get past this fear and the feelings I get inside. I never ever finish a task.....HELP
