The good, the bad, the ugly about moving here in Tagaytay ! Let me know what your thoughts are.

My hypothesis is that Tagaytay is popular because it is 5°C cooler than Maynila, yet still close enough for a day trip to Maynila.

Agree completely. Plus Batangas, and so many others areas. Sky Ranch, People’s park. Has a lot to offer.

I was there in 2006 and it was a nice quiet place with furniture makers, flowers & fruit stands all along the way. Condos were cheap in gated communities. Not so much anymore it seems. It is beautiful with Taal Volcano lake views for sure 👍 Good day trip from the City. Fun fact,Taal is the Worlds smallest volcano 😁

Is a place like SMBC within walking distance of malls, restaurants, etc. Traffic is a real drag. Once I got there in 30 minutes and it took 3 hours to get back.

We are so Bummed that everyone is finding out about Tagaytay!!! 😩 We are trying to get there before the prices go any higher!!! The reason we like it is because its cooooler!!!! 😉

I like Tagaytay and so does everyone else. Thank you for the review and perspective. Trece Martirez is a great compromise half way up the hill from Manilla. If Bagiuo is the summer Capitol then Tagaytay is weekend Manila.

I really appreciate your doing this Rich ! -- Days later now but I also wanted the comments & others opinions a well. Especially from those with a lot more time there - and the outskirts - which is where my interests are for less crowds and less traffic. -- Many find it very comfortable in different areas from 'where' you were. = Different perspective. -?- The air there is dryer according to Steve in a video ? Less humid ? A few here say it depends on which place you are in ? -- Many found happiness there - and I wonder if you could have too if looking in different areas ? 🤔 I already found new apartments like Steve is in for 4500 P ($78) a few miles away to the North. You would need wheels but it's a beautiful area with less ac needed and less traffic + a lot of fresh produce grown all around for miles......

I don't live in Tagaytay, although I have friends who live there and whom I visit a couple of times a year. My family and I live in Rizal Province. We've been here for the past 4 years. We live at altitude, I would say around 600m above sea-level, so it has a fairly temperate climate. Rizal has an undiscovered beauty - hills, lakes and an unpolluted atmosphere. We own our properties and after the Covid 'crisis' there has been an influx of people from Manila, who have come to understand that we are only a couple of hours from Manila and it provides a better life. Very few foreigners! A few years ago the volcano in Tagaytay erupted and covered us with a couple of inches of dust. I have actually taken a boat to the volcano and climbed it, not during an eruption of course.

Tourist areas no matter where in the world are expensive. Traffic, words can't be told about it. I was there only once for a few days, but was so beautiful. Great work on the video

We have a house in a gated community 15 minutes walk from Twin Lakes. We will be renting it out or Airbnb. Very cool and quiet place. Love it there!

Yes, the traffec is horrible especially on the weekends. Our house is in Bilog, just north of the Lake and Volcano. The land prices are high, especially the ones closer to the lake and volcano. The Transportion Dept is working to ease the traaffic problems, with a Bypass road, but they are having getting the right of way rights from some landowners. They are building an overpass at Mendez crossing and that will be a big help on traffic. Twin Lakes shopping center gets a lot of tourists from China, Japan, and Korea. We usually go there on weekends. We have only been visited by a few Expats and it was good to be able to sit outside by the waterfall and talk. The volcano erruption of 2020 we could see the plumes of ash and stem rising into the air and the lightneng dncing areound when the plumes met clouds in the air. We were really lucky that the winds were blowing out of the west to the east, so we got very little of the ash fall. Our power was shut off for 3 days.

I think it was early 2020 Taal went off. From Tanza I could watch the lighten dancing in the volcanic cloud above it. Was very cool.

It belched last year. You are correct on 2020!

I like my location in regards to Tagaytay. I live just below Tagaytay, and I can be up there in 15 minutes via a backroad. I avoid it on the weekends as most sensible "locals".

Traffic is definitely heavy on the weekends and holidays. Weekdays are not bad at all. So if you want to see the area well with no aggravation and be able to move around to see and choose the scenic views and plentiful restaurants go on weekdays…make sure it’s not a holiday though.
@richierich31402 ай бұрын
Agree. That said, I found the speed of the weekday traffic a bit unnerving. Rich

I stayed there for a year and liked the weather but the Wind towers have a lot of mold in them. The humidity is higher combined with lower temp is a Mold haven. I never had it so much at the Serin towers next to the mall.

I, too, had mold issues when staying at Wind towers.

10 years ago, they showed me the project, and still cheap at that time. The place is beautiful but the road and Taal volcano. I said nahhhhhh. 😊😊😊😊🎉.

Good video and I was thinking about it with this heat. I assume you meant USA at the 550 a month. If that is all inclusive on a one month rental in a tourist area its a great price and not costly.I just think you Trece boys get a litttle squimish when rent tops 100 USD and start shopping for cheaper . 🙂 I assume restaurant prices more to though, and how is the selection?
@richierich31402 ай бұрын
lol !! You are so true. Restaurant selection was good. Prices so so. Thanks for good post. Rich

Once a decade volcano. When ash spews out its just a matter of where the wind blows. There could be a week long eruption with ash fall for days. If ash spews out non stop for a week or longer, all your investments will be buried. Risk worth taking though because Taal eruptions are never long enough to bury a town like Mayon or Vesuvius.
@richierich31402 ай бұрын
Yes, think I said big deal or no deal. That said, it burped last year and made breathing in Trece miserable for days. No big deal if you have no breathing issues.
