Buying coffee at the store can be overwhelming, so I decided to break down what to look for and avoid when buying beans. From k-cups, blends, single origin, to organic, I cover it all.

Lots of people like the green tea but I personally don't like green tea that anybody that you reading this be careful with some of them green teas because they have a lot of sugar in them if they're already pre-made so they can't be that healthy for you. Here’s a copy/paste of a comment I left in a past video of yours. I adore you and I respect you, but you are so wrong about coffee blends. Single blends are single when that bean in particular stands out and is so special that blending it would be a crime. Blends happen because the roaster is trying to create a flavor profile and/or because the plantation cannot grow enough to supply for single origin. Hence why sometimes single origin coffee comes in a smaller bag. It’s the same with grapes. It’s why smaller wineries use combined grapes. They work their tails off combining and tasting in order to create their ideal flavor profile. This is why it’s an art-A true art. Also, in regards to organic, as someone who grew up in the Caribbean and whose family had a coffee plantation in Lares, Puerto Rico, I can tell you right now that to expect all coffee plantations between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn (the only places where coffee can grow) to be organic is completely unrealistic. The higher the humidity, the higher the struggle for crops. Humidity breeds pests, thus the need to eradicate them. Coffee roasters aren’t trying to cheat you, I promise. They are simply trying to help you discover new roasts and flavor profiles. I’m not just anyone, I’m a classically trained cook with extensive training in wines and coffee. I come to you for new products to try, because life is too boring to always eat the same thing.
@GoodandDelicious
@GoodandDelicious 3 жыл бұрын
Not to mention the fact that single origin can still come from multiple coffee plantations, but since they all come from the same country then they are deemed as single.

But MODLY coffee is a real thing and the USA doesn’t test their coffees like they do in Europe. We buy any and all coffee. So for me, coffee makes me sick and releases toxins from mold in me. There are certain coffee companies that test for mycotoxins in their coffee that would be the ideal one to drink. Hope this helps someone!

For my own tastebuds & to help with my lifelong struggle with migraines I had to change up my coffee. Organic is the way to go. Once you've found your top 20 coffees check to see which are sustainably sourced & you will have your top handful of coffees to actually try. Good luck. It took me a good year before I bought my any. @@sheilasandoval2343 For years I had random, debilitating migraines. A few years ago I realized they were occurring 2 days after I had ingested beans. It’s the lectins in beans that caused my migraines. Now that I limit beans to no more than a couple tablespoons at a time, I no longer get migraines. Check out Dr. Steven Gundry and The Plant Paradox. He has a lot of information available for free, such as his eat/do not eat lists. Lots of KZfaq vids. According to Dr. Gundry pressure cooking beans and other high lectin foods destroys the lectins. Eden brand canned beans are pressure cooked. I’ve also been off gluten, which is also a lectin, for many years. That cured another health issue I was having. Different people are sensitive to different lectins, so you have to be your own food detective and possibly go on an elimination diet. Definitely take Christina’s advice and switch up your coffee to organic. Hope this helps you.

Just the clarify on the subject of organic. It does play a role in which orgin you buy if they are sprayed. For example Ethiopia farms may never spray, coffee is almost wild there and the nearly all of it isn't sprayed. It's just too much money for the farmers to buy the certification for organic and equally as tough for your roaster. We're actually instructed to throw away bean if we roast non organic and organic in the same machine even though the bean is usually unharmed by any chemicals. Knowing your roaster and farms is way more beneficial.

I agree with this in principle but grinding my own beans is too much of a mess/time sink since I need to feed and exercise a pack of dogs in the AM. I buy the 3 pound can of Kirkland ground coffee, brew it with orange zest or powdered dehydrated orange peel, and add Laird creamer. Sure I have had better coffee, but I can live with it.

the k cups are good for just enough to cut open and pour into a thremos and add about 12 ounces of hot water, then shake, and drink when the grounds settle so you don't drink the grounds.

I love the dry, shelf-stable version of Laird’s. I always have several flavors on hand but I also use 100% grass-fed half and half.

@@BoomerLoveforGenZ I've been using organic heavy cream but I will look for the grass fed half and half next time in the store. What brand is it that you buy?

Hello! If you do an additional video in regards of coffee, Can you squeeze in Nespresso pods, I’m curious since they have a recyclable program and also would be nice to get some insight on how good they are. Thank you!

Even the inventor of the Kuring does not use his own product HOWEVER i would only recommend if you insist San Francisco Bay has a great organic coffee single origin choice . It’s kinda cool because there is no k cup ( well the whole pod is compostable. And more important there’s no plastic surrounding the actual coffee grinds just the filter which is important and why most of those K cups are so bad for you at least in my opinion - Who knows how long that coffee‘s been sitting in that plastic) thanks for all you do Bobby!

Hi Bobby, the stainless steel k-cup is an excelent idea, but unfortunately my coffee machine, Nespresso compatible, requires one time use capsules. After inserting, the machine puncture holes in the aluminum of the capsule and the water runs through the coffee within the capsule. Can you suggest a reusable solution for this type of coffee machine? Thanks

Some of the Laird coffee creamers contain maltodextrin. Also the keto versions still have 1g of carb per teaspoon. If you're like me, you're using way more than a teaspoon of creamer.
