So in my country we begin to celebrate like a month before the actual wedding 😅 so we have a series of dance practices to prepare for a function called the 'mehndi' and this is where the bride's side and the groom's side have a dance off 💃. The next celebration is known as the 'barat' this is where the vows are said, the marriage contract is signed and the bride goes to the groom's house after and officially moves in with him. Thought I was done? Lol! 😂 There is another function after this called the 'walima' this is the groom's reception he is the host here I think this is the day the couple receives money. Gifts are also acceptable but those are usually given at bridal showers.

Here in Brazil, weddings usually happen at a curch and then there's a party/dinner afterwards in a venue or at the church's venue. For the presents, the bride and the groom usually provide a list of options of house appliances/decoration for their future home at a specific store and the guests can choose their presents from this list. So, yeah, it's quite different hahah

In Mexican weddings there is a thing called a money dance and basically guest pay to dance with the bride and groom. The money is attached to the couples attire whether it be by tucking it in, pinning it to the clothes, or taping it, and it the amount can range from 1 dollar to 100 dollars. We also have a thing called La Vibora De La Mar and basically there is two teams, women and men, and basically the bride and groom stand on chairs and form an arch using their hands or the brides veil and either team will line up and link arms with the person infront and behind you. Then the leader, the person infront of everyone, will start to run around and under the arch and it will progressively get faster, the goal is to knock either the bride or groom but it mostly ends up being the groom. When the groom gets "knocked off" he will be carried to an open space and tossed in the air. Then there is the classic bouquet and garter toss. Basically mexican weddings are wild.

in Zimbabwe there’s usually two weddings, the traditional wedding also called the ‘roora’ where the groom pays labola/dowry/bride price to the bride’s family (which traditionally is like cattle but i think in modern days it’s more of like money and groceries and that type of stuff) and then they eat and celebrate and then there’s the white wedding which is a typical western wedding i guess. except for the photos usually the bridge and groom take photos with their bridesmaids/groomsmen and like flower girls and stuff but not w/ the actual wedding guests and then during the reception the guests go to the bride and groom at their table to say congratulations and take selfies and stuff. and the gifts part really just depends, you can give money or sign up for registry gifts. thanks for sharing about your culture, it’s so interesting to learn about!

I really liked this video! One thing I found really interesting was the gifting of money. I’m not sure what it’s called but a Mexican tradition at weddings is that everybody(family, friends and kids) get to dance with the bride and groom and get to pin as much money as they want to the brides dress and grooms tux. Basically every couple registers at at least one store that they would like guests to shop at. Personally, I think that takes all the fun out of giving. But, that's not the reason I give cash. Hi sis' Euni. In French Polynesia, wedding is really a huge family and close friends reunion, not sure about co-workers lol. First you go to the town hall, and then to the church. If you have enough money, you go to a hotel restaurant for dinner, or at home if you have enough place to packed 200 - 400 people haha !!!d and the food is usually prepare by uncles, aunties and cousins. Australian wedding ceremony is generally I a church / garden or beach then reception at a different venue as for gifts a present bought the reception or money put in a wishing well any value sometimes brides have a gift register at certain stores with lists of items they would like as gifts which is handy unless is a designer expensive store

The weddings in Romania are very different then weddings from South Korea. Because for no reason in Romania the bride disappears when is midnight and this happends at every romanian wedding. We aslo have fireworks(this happends in my town). Korean weddings are also beautiful and elegant 🥰🤍

I think it’s really nice that with korean weddings they give money to help with the expenses I think that’s really sweet since weddings can be so expensive! I think with the US it’s flexible. The couple usually registers at a few different stores for gifts for their new home. So it can be like kitchenware or bedding and those kinds of things. It’s a way to help them get the things they need for the new home they move into. A lot of that is gifts for the bridal shower, but some people will bring the gifts from the registry to the wedding. But everyone is very much okay with cash too. I had a friend recently get married and I bought her a bedding set for her bridal shower and then I also gave her cash on the day of her wedding too. So it varies lol

Hi Eunni , here's how it is for us , we have the religious ceremony and then the actual party that generally takes place at a wedding venue and in some cases in a big hotel. Guests do not have to give money to the bride and groom and if they try it'll not be accepted . People are invited to the wedding to cellebrate and share the bride and groom 's joy . Here in The South it usually works with a Traditional Christian ceremony before moving the entire thing to a new location, everyone usually puts on different outfits, and continue on throughout the night, it isn't uncommon for Family members to sneak out during the party to go to the honeymoon suite and place a bunch of pranks around either. Pretty sure if just a default wedding but it's still fun when it happens!

We give the red packet money according to the wedding venue normally. If it’s taking place at a hotel ballroom then we usually give the couple more money like 50usd to 60usd. I remember when I was young, my families used to give only 8usd and still 2 or 3 of us were attending the wedding. 😂 It’s really little if you invite elderly.

I do see a lot of similarities to our wedding actually! I live in Sweden but I'm Assyrian and our weddings usually starts with the grooms family coming over to the brides family's house to first of take pictures and then dance with the bride and get her on the way to church. After church, usually everyone heads to the venue, which sometimes can be in a different location. The bride and groom will be the last ones entering the venue, and they'll be welcomed by a dance where all the guest gets up and dances to their marriage. On these venues the usually serve meza (smal middle eastern appetizers) throughout the whole wedding and a main course and dessert at the end. We usually also pay with money, but not by the financial status but by how close you are with the bride or groom. For example if it's a long distance relative we pay around 50-60 dollar/per person, if it's a close cousin we pay around 100 dollar/per person. The weddings starts around 5 in the afternoon and last until 3 in the morning (so they almost lasts for 12 hours lol). But I will say, they are fun if it's a close friend or relative, not so much if it's not lol (I usually go for the food if I have to go to those).😂

I live in California. You basically walk in and are told what's gonna happen via ushers/parents/itenerary. Only knowing ceremony and reception info ahead of time. We give gifts, typically from a registry made by the bride and groom, got cards or cash

I really enjoyed this video and its content, I was so curious about Korean weddings, they seem (and are, in a way) worlds apart! Now, grab some snacks or something 'cause this is going to take a while. In Romania (and I suppose in many other Eastern European countries, but I can only speak for my own) weddings are similar in some aspects, but sooo different in others, and I think the biggest thing is the time involved - in most of the cases it's a whole day and night affair! So there is the church service (for those that are religious, it's not necessary but it is the majority of the cases here), the city hall (official/governmental business) and the reception itself. It is almost always two of them, if not all three. Some people choose to have the signing of the official papers at the city hall on a different day and then you have to go to two different events/days, two different outfits, and sometimes there's even a small lunch/dinner/reception too if the date is different. It's not mandatory for all the guests but the extended families that live nearby (cousins and all) and the close friends and sometimes even some of the work friends are expected to go. The official wedding day is quite long and full of local traditions, but in the end it is up to the bride and groom to decide how much and how involved they are willing to get. The groom usually comes with the godparents to the bride's house (or her parents' house) to pick her up, there are customs and special moments, putting on the veil of the bride, saying the official goodbye to the parents etc., there's usually drinks and food (snacks/buffet type and sweets) and maybe some music or dancing involved, but it's usually a short affair, an hour or two at most. This is also where people start taking photos - most likely the couple will have hired an official photographer and cameramen to record the whole thing. This depends on how close you are with the family - not everyone who's invited to the wedding makes it here, but it's still many people I think. After this, the whole party will go either to the town hall or to the church to start the ceremony there (and meet everybody else). Usually in between these events the couple will also get its own special, private photo session, at whatever location they choose, so let's say the church service will be at noon, there will be again photos and drinks and sweets, but then there's a break (where they go with their crew) and then in the evening there's the reception. It's usually a restaurant or a special wedding hall/ballroom too, but there are also outside venues or some nice, historical buildings, depending on the budget and their preference of course. The couple and their parents greet every guest and they toast before they enter, so you should arrive at the designated time to not make them wait. (Everything will be written on the wedding card). You get seated at a table depending on your acquaintances etc. and then the party starts. The couple is seated at a central table along with their godparents (sometimes they can have more than one pair), but their families will sit somewhere else. The couple will usually have a first dance and then several meals will be served throughout the evening/night, there's of course the cutting of the cake too. In between there's dancing and chatting with everybody and taking photos if the couple has the time (they are very busy making sure every guest gets some attention), the families usually come and greet every table and thank everybody as well - the event can last well until the morning (5-6 or more) and it's usually considered rude to leave before a certain time has passed or a certain course has been served (let's say midnight, for example). This differs, of course, but I think you should stay at the reception for two or three hours minimum, and then maybe you can leave. In recent years it's become more and more normal to have special moments during the reception, for example hire a famous singer or have a group of dancers, have a quartet of musicians etc. depending on the style of the wedding and everything. Usually only the godparents give actual gifts, sometimes close family members and very very close friends do too, but it's not required. Money is preferred here too, what really bothers me is this secrecy about the sums, I never know how much is too much and how little is too little (depending on your relationship with the bride/groom and your financial status of course) and it's considered really bad taste to ask around. But you go to weddings and you learn your way around. I really liked the fact that you have some sort of a guideline in Korea :) Anyway, they will usually have envelopes with your name (or not, it depends on what they choose) on the table where you place the money (but you're welcome to bring your own, put a nice greeting card or letter inside if you want) and then, when you decide to leave the reception/party and you go say your goodbyes to the couple, there's usually a nice decorated fancy chest-type of box at the couple's table in which you place it - so this whole thing happens at the end of the wedding, and not at the beginning. Money is also preferred here because it helps the couple with their expenses and the bookings for the wedding (the venue, the menu, the photographer, the artists etc.) or their honeymoon, like you said. OMG, I wrote a whole novel here, I'm so sorry, I got so carried away with weddings and everything, even though I'm single and not about to have any soon, but I just enjoy all the cultural differences so much! In Spain, weddings are treated like a whole day ceremony. It usually starts ar 12pm, with the bride and/or husband taking the whole morning to get ready, at the church. We have a really ingrained relationship with the church, but in the case of homosexual relationships or non-christian weddings the ceremony starts elsewhere (I'll get into detail later). Okay, at the church the priest officiates the wedding ,which looks like a normal mass but wedding-oriented and whose preaching ends up on the priest asking the whole "do you want to marry? yah? nah?" yadda yadda. After all that is done, the guests are given a second location (usually a hotel or a place specific for these ceremonies, but if you're poor a restaurant is usual too) and they all go, meanwhile the people getting married (alongside parents and close friends to act as witnesses) go to their local civil registration office to make their wedding legal (you need to set an appointment previously, and this is what usually defines the day the wedding will be celebrated on, but some couples just do it around that day to make things easier). If the people getting married are not religious, this is the first step instead of the second one, and since civil registration offices do not allow too many people, it's also common for them to be just directed towards the place they'll be having lunch at. At around 2pm, or maybe 3pm, both the guests and the newlywed couple have lunch at the hotel/restaurant/place where you can eat. It's normal for them to do so at this hour, since spanish people don't have lunch at 12pm but a bit later. Then they take their time xD and around 4pm or 5pm, the wedding cake is brought out. It is really common for couples to cut the first piece yielding a huge sword (I have no idea where this comes from but probably the great metallurgy industry on some places from inland Spain like Toledo). Then, the guests are given a gift (this is more unusual the more poor the couple is), something like a wine bottle or a wallet. (I must add, these gifts are usually pretty sexist, and segregated by gender, gifting women something pretty but useless and men something pricey and useful). And lastly! It's also common for the place to have disco service, so if the wedding is prolongued through the whole day (or starts at 5pm and has a night schedule, everything moving some hours and the food being dinner at 9pm) the guests are kindly invited to party until they're tired and around dinner time (if it's not included) they start leaving. Also! Before any wedding, the couple is usually visited throughout the previous week at their home in order to gift them stuff (or give them money, in order to buy stuff for the new home they're supposed to share after the wedding). It is also tradition that the parents gift them something big, in my mom's first wedding she was gifted the ceremony by her parents and her husband's parents paid for most of the furniture. I tried to be as broad as I could, but every couple does it differently and this is not the only kind (or kinds) of wedding there is in Spain, but I wanted to add my pov since I stumbled upon this video!

I was at my cousin’s wedding a year ago and it was really chill! When we go to the venue there are people who receives the congratulatory money and you can have all you can drink drinks and unlimited mini appetizers that a waitress holds with a big round tray 😆 And then the ceremony, the ring moment and bla bla bla (i cried so much of happiness ahah) Then we go to a big room with tables and stuff and the “important people” will come up and do a speech. Here in the Philippines, if you are a catholic (religion, bride and groom) and you wanted to have a beach or garden wedding (maybe want it to be done on your preferred locations) you can do so but you have to do it first as a church wedding (simple one will do, with your family, closest friends), usually celebrities do that.

Wow, gifting in Korean weddings are a lot different compare to Latino weddings. We usually give gifts, however; we do a unique wedding tradition called money dance. Basically at the wedding reception, guests come up to the bride and groom and pin money on them. And in exchange you give them a dance. By the end of the long dance, the couples family help collect the cash and not ruin their wedding attire 😊

Darling weddings are more complicated here in Morocco 😁😁 where a wedding could last for up to 3 or 4 days ( which is way less than the old days where it used to last for a month 😂😂 ) but the average these days is 1 or 2 days. The wedding is usual held at at a wedding venue or at the bride's house and sometimes huge traditionally embroidered wedding tents ⛺ are used to accomodate to the large number of family members, neighbors and friends whom are attending ( cuz it's basically like a huge family gathering 😆😆). Since there are several regions that are significantly different in Morocco, the food is a whole new world. Thus, the food will be different depending on the region. Moreover, for weddings we wear traditional clothes that are specific to weddings and special occasions ( and yes, you can't wear regular clothes even if they're fancy 😜, unless you're a foreigner which in this case is okay). For the gifting part, you are free to gift whatever you want, it can be money, gold/silver jewelry, home appliances, traditional carpets, fancy blankets .... and the list goes on. There are so many other things that I haven't mentioned because if I do continue, I'll need to film a video. It's just too much for a comment 😂😂😂😂 But at least this gives a certain idea/picture about how different and diverse Moroccan weddings are 😊

Also during the reception there’s eating of course, throwing of the bouquet, and garter and lots of dancing which I didn’t see at this wedding. In America people usually hire a DJ or a live band. Is there anything like that in Korean weddings or is it just about the food like you said lol?

In Nigeria, we give gifts mostly household items, money or China's. There are two weddings traditional and white. There is a fun dance time for the bride and groom and then normally some elders or chiefs spray money.

In India the wedding ceremony and rituals happen for at least 3 days, we have Mehendi, Haldi, dance ceremony, there are loads of ritual depending on the ethnicity you belong to. The weddings are really colorful filled with family and friends, and it's really common to have a minimum of 200 guests.

Is there no dancing or after party in Korean weddings? In Turkey dancing is a huge part of wedding. And we generally have two nights weddings. One is called Henna Night. It’s a women only party most of the time (sometimes not it changes according to region or traditions or how conservative the families are) and it occurs a night before the actual wedding. In Henna Night we dance and celebrate the soon to be married bride and give her henna tattoos. And ourselves too. The actual wedding is a dance party mostly, and there can be actual full course food or just some snacks, beverages and wedding cake, it’s up to bride and groom. We do our buffets on the wedding day. And we have some very common traditions like going to bride’s home to take her and bring her to groom’s family home (and bride’s friends do not let the groom’s family to do this without some bribe lol). And we also give money as a gift to newly weds. Or some gold if you are close with the family. If you are a close relative you can also gift some golden bracelets or jewellery to the bride.

In Indonesia, there's a lot of different custom. But the most common, is the "national" wedding type..where the bride and groom rent a wedding hall just like yours and invite a whole lot of people. Sometimes can be up to 2000 people. But most of the time, it's a standing buffet..so you're standing while you're eating, and the bride & groom will stand on a heavily decorated platform with their parents and guests will make queue to give them handshake and congratulations

Well in Morocco ( since we're Arab ) . We don't have a church weedings usually the couple choose a wedding hall that is specifically made for weddings . Most of the ceremonies are at night . The groom's family buys the bride gold and gifts ( most of them are body lotion and perfume and sometimes bags ...) And he gives his wife that in front of everyone on the ceremony . In each Moroccan weeding there should be a DJ or a Moroccan traditional singers . Yeah and everyone wear traditional clothes ( tekshita for women & djelaba for men ) . And for gifts you can give them anything u want not specifically money . And one last thing is that the Moroccan weeding is more of a party ( everybody's having fun and dancing ) . I'm surprised you didn't mention about how the bouquet toss is staged because the belief is that whoever catches it has to get married within 6 months. If not, it's considered bad luck. Or did your friend not do this? My Korean coworker said it's not as big of a deal as it used to be. As a Canadian, weddings are very different than Korean ones. From buying/owning the dress, to not having wedding halls, and photography. Great video. :)

Hello Unni. Very excited for your upcoming wedding! In Zimbabwe, we have our traditional weddings that steeped in rites of introducing and strengthening the families. It takes several meetings, where a 'go between' chosen by the groom's family will state his intentions and the bride's family will respond - either accepting or rejecting or stating their terms. If those are met, lobola/roora (a dowry) is asked by the bride's family. Cattle are our sign of wealth. So that is what was historically requested. Still is but can be converted into cash equivalent. Other gifts are given for the prospective mother and father-in-law - sealing the relationship and affirming that the groom will be able to provide for their daughter. Then comes the western type wedding that is a one-day affair, usually in a church and then the hall. Family and friends do not pay but gift the couple. Families usually try to outdo each other hehehe as announcements are done publicly. There is a book where everything is written and so everyone brings their a game. Pictures are usually taken during the transition from church to the wedding hall. For Eg, pictures can go from 12:00 to 2:00 and they are usually taken at a scenic place like a botanical garden, winery, etc. By the time the wedding party arrives at the banquet hall, people are already seated and the wedding party enters with dance steps (waltz, cha cha cha etc) that are practised for months. Throughout the wedding celebration, the wedding party will entertain with these dances. There is usually also an entertaining act. It's a long and entertaining day. After that, bride's aunts send her off to her marital life/honeymoon.

Its somehow similar with singapore wedding.. but differences is that dinner is serve as courses.. usually its about 8 dishes course.. so people cant leave the table until the dishes serve.. photo taking is bride and groom with the family members will go each and every table to take a photo with them.. bride dont have a room to take photo with guest is only if you are close friend then you will have to go over early and go up to hotel room or prep room to take photo.. bride usually only come out at main hall 30-45mins before march in to the dinner hall.. As for envelope we call them Red packet as we believe red color is a good blessing/luck.. same thing we will also ask if we should drop in the box or give personally to bridesmaid help to keep.. but as guest have to prepare own packet for the money.. no free envelope or packet at the event.. Worst thing is some parents will wan to have the whole box money to themselves which married couple have to fork out the whole event money by themselves..

My cousin’s wedding was held in the church first which lasted about an hour. And then the bride and groom would take a few pictures together in the church and then w/ family n friends. After the ceremony, everyone would drive to a celebration hall or depending on where the banquet will be held. My cousin had his at a mansion with a huge garden and it lasted until whenever. My family stayed until close to sundown j celebrating, eating food and lots of dancing and karaoke. Filipinos singing the night away ahaa. For gifting the bride n groom we give money but also sometimes a gift like appliances or things they will need for their new home. So yeah that was my experience I look forward to know more about Korea. I plan on either visiting or going abroad in a couple of years! Btw I hope you and your family and friends are doing alright during this time. ♡

In Turkey, it’s kinda similar cuz here also the bride and a person who’s carrying a bag for the money just walking around the tables and welcoming everyone as well as the guests are giving the money to bride (usually to the person who’s carrying the bag but some of them just put on bride’s dress lol) And then the bride and groom just make a opening dance in front of everyone and then after a while there’s some songs to just dance crazily 😂 in Turkey so people just go up the stage and dance haha

I was very surprised that the guests give money, in my country, generally, the couple gives a list of the things they need and you buy them, according to your budget, the wedding ceremony is usually paid by the parents of the couple . your outfit unnie, definitely girl in love 😉🌸

Here in Nagaland, India, we naga tribe either chose church or wedding venue (a big ground for occasions) for ceremony. The church ceremony is all same n say if we choose the wedding venue then it's just a normal big ground with a big stage (venue matters) n downside where the guest will be seated. For the wedding planners it's upto us whom we want to choose n right after entering the venue there'll be a small reception for envelops n we get in wait for the bride to enter, the groom is already waiting, he comes first. The pastor will do the needs Then in between the ceremony one can play music n sing song n friends can deliver a short speech n lastly one of bride's family members will give a note on Thanksgiving. Also the brides maid takes incharge of all the bride's dress arrangements or bring the rings in n whatever in need. Then after ceremony is over we go shake hands with the couple, greet them n take pictures n go have food that they've prepared for us. There will be a long table where variety of food is placed n we need to serve on our on, eat the dessert n leave 😋 and also no one throws flowers on the bride when she's entering 😂 she'll walk with her dad followed by bridesmaid. For us guest will just be seated until the ceremony is over. Here wedding is so formal 😂 like we're on an important meeting with important guest n no one should make mistakes 🤍

In Brazil there's an another option besides buying house goods. To kind of sponsor the honeymoon, the friends of the groom pass with his tie, and if you want to give them money, you pay them, and they'll cut a piece of the groom's tie and give to you as a token. And the groom and the bride take to many pictures at the reception, and they go personally talk with everybody at every table, to thank for their presence.

It's soo different from México, here we don't give then money, it's more common give them something for their new home, and the ceremony and the dinner are in differents places, and the most important part it's the party after the dinner 😋😋😋
