I would also encourage a beginner to spend the money on a pair of 10in Knipex flat jaw pliers. they are the most versatile tool in my arsenal. everything from flare nuts to squeezing rivets. They are also my go to for pressing in small bushing/bearings.

Love the vid man. I see more and more mechanics being too proud to buy harbor freight. That place is dangerously underrated. The scene with the wrenches couldn’t be truer either because in my opinion the best wrench is the one that fits perfectly in what you’re doing. Thats why it’s a good idea to slowly build up a solid wrench set of different shapes sizes and brands like you did. Keep up the work man! 👍

Thanks man, I’m glad someone sees eye to eye with me on the Harbor Freight debate. Even when I was working in shops, I haven’t had much to complain about when it comes to good ole HF tools. I think a lot of the issue comes down to the bandwagon of people who think that their favorite brand is the only one you should buy. Keep on keeping on!

Facts. I’ve heard people say snap-on is the best and they don’t even own any. “Everyone says it’s the best so it must be” couldn’t be more wrong imo. Snap on is a luxury not the standard

A Cadillac and a Chevy are both gonna get you where you need to go, it just depends on how much you wanna spend 🤙🏼

Harbor Freight's quality gone up over the years. They do offer a good, better, best option which is very good for customers.

Not a bad list man. as someone that has been making my living with my tools for about 25 years, I will admit that I am a bougie bitch, and I have a lot of the Gucci truck brand tools. They all have stuff i like and dislike. My option on those is a whole different conversation though. I will however say that the Icon series tools from HF are amazing tools for the price. They tend to be a clone of their Snap-On counterparts. so for less than half the price, you are getting about 80% of the big name tool. I wish they were around when I was first getting my start. The Craftsman Professional line are also very good tools at a reasonable price. Plus, the Icon and the Craftsman have the same warranty as Snap-On, but they don't come to you, and you cant get them on truck credit.

I feel you on the gucci tools, I have my share of snap-on and Matco. But I agree with you on the icon stuff, especially the 80% same tool point you made! Like you said tho you can’t get it on truck credit though

Got those same irwin channels 3 pack with different sizes work great for most any application also recommended teng tools and capri tools not quite as expensive as snap on tools but great quality . But also have abused a bunch of harbor freight tools in fact most of my sockets are HB Pittsburgh but i do have half inch impact socket set from capri. Have a teng 1/2 drive torque wrench ive tested it its within 3-5% for new guys always make sure when storing it set it back to zero or you might mess up the calibration

Those channel locks are my favorite ones I’ve had. I’ll have to check out teng and capri, but I agree with you on Harbor freight cause I’ve beaten on everything I’ve bought from there 👍🏻
