For my first video, I wanted to share my top tips with all of you new veterinary graduates out there who are about to embark on your veterinary journey! I know it's tough but I'm really passionate about trying to make your lives a little easier and more fulfilling. (Even if you've been out a few years you might find something helpful so watch on!).
----
It's a really tough time navigating this new world, and you have a lot of knowledge but it's everything else about being a vet that's hard. I wanted to share some of those "soft skills" and snippets I've picked up over my 4 years in small animal practice that will hopefully make your transition a little easier.
----
Let me know what you think in the comments below! Please subscribe and I'll be posting regular videos about lots of different aspects of veterinary life, including my new job as a sea turtle veterinarian in the Maldives that I'll be starting real soon!
----
If you have anything you'd like me to cover, feel free to post it in the comments and I'll be sure to add it to a video!

About to start my first job in September and this was so useful! I'd heard other top tips for new grads but never found them that useful because they were vague like "dont get stressed xo" but these are all things I will try to carry through with me and remember!

That makes me so happy to hear!! Yes I felt exactly the same in terms of available resources, lots of weird nebulous concepts that you literally can't put into practice because there's nothing actionable about them!! So I'm really glad to hear you felt this was helpful. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment. It's made my day 😊

As a recent grad, THANK YOU!! Especially tip 5 over costs. I moved to an area with a higher cost of living so expected a higher fee schedule but have felt some of the charges were exorbitantly high. However, you are so correct, I need not to feel guilty over what I can’t control and be creative in ways I can. Please make more videos! Your content is golden!

Hi Dr Minnie.thank you for this video. Can you tell us about your first job? Did you work with another experienced veterinarian or you were alone?

I worked in a practice that had a more senior team so I did have vets to call upon and I definitely sought out their guidance. But I found myself asking less questions quite early on just because I found myself so busy!! But lean on the team for sure, especially at this delicate phase in your career
