Great tips Craig, especially the bonus food tip. My tip would be to make a day of it, sharing the planning and equipment. my 11yr old (at the time 9)and i had a boys day in Brighton followed by camping on the way home, he loved it and wants to do it again. - Robb

We started in the garden camping and fire building. They (11 and 13) nearly fight who will build the one match fire when we are out camping. Nice doing a video with your son when talking about children and camping. It is a good channel thank you for your hard work 👍

My son takes an 'adventure stick' with him. At the end of our adventure we leave it somewhere obvious so another kid can take it on more adventures. Best upload so far Mr Taylors! T in Dublin.

Cook it yourself meals- bread on a stick, foil wrapped supper in coals. - ultralight binoculars, magnifier , and little pocket microscope with laminated folded field guides. What grows or lives in this area of the world? - foraging for wild fruits and veggies. Conformation with adult and comparison to guides. -For older kids, pocket knife, flashlight and their own tent. - Put them in charge of navigation and map reading for a hike. Identify landmarks, foliage and paths. - your son is right about the food. Have him choose a meal, and build the fire and cook it start to finish. - Bring bags for trailside rubbish and award the best collector. - after the trip, have them navigate route home and estimate arrival time. - aftenoon quiet time to explore certain parameter around camp unaccompanied.

Brilliant list I would add spare socks x3 and light pair of trainers. Wet feet are an eventuality with my 8 year old. T

Great tips mate - been at this for a good few months now and loving every minute. Like you say, preparation is key and don’t overdo it. Think I’ve made that mistake a bit but fortunately got away with it 😜😜

I do like the concept and idea's and admit to cross pollination here in Germany. Each week thanks to state Corona sponsors Bushcraft is being offered to the local kid's. Hopefully to hone future Bushcraft and Outdoor needs.

I’ve got 3 kids, any tips? No idea how I can carry a tent for potentially 5 people!!
@TheBushcraftPadawan
@TheBushcraftPadawan 2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't fancy dragging a 5 person tent into a 'wild camping' location either! 😂 Have you considered using a traditional semi-wild campsite where you can drive your car up to the tent pitch but it's still remote enough to feel 'wild'? There are several such campsites in the Ogwen Valley in Snowdonia?
@dynamodav
@dynamodav 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for such a prompt and informative response! I didn’t write know how to tackle it but your suggestions all make sense. I only had a single person tent which I suppose is the easy purchase. Family camping is complex!! Thanks again
