5 Tricks For Russian Tips

In this cake decorating tutorial I demonstrate 5 tricks for Russian tips (also called flower piping tips or flower nozzles), taking you through each stage of using them, from putting the tips in piping bags, preparing buttercream of the right consistency, different techniques to fill piping bags to make two tone and three tone coloured flowers, how to prepare your cake before piping the flowers, details of the piping technique and troubleshooting of why flowers "buckle" or why the petals break off as you pipe them, and different options for finishing touches. Using a glass to assist with adding the buttercream into the piping bag is an Excellent tip! And the saran wrap trick, absolutely brilliant! Seriously, this video out of all I've watched has been the most helpful. Now I'm definitely not afraid to try multiple colors. Thank you for this video 😃👨‍🍳👍👌💖

Hey Emily. I am simply in awe of these tips, have used them quite a number of times , but still never managed to pinpoint the issues you have addressed about why the flowers have rough edges or why they were starting to mush up halfway through the cake. Thanks for explaining it. I now know how to tackle these!! 😁😁

I've been using Russian nozzles for some time but still learned loads from your tutorial - thanks! Using clingfilm to marshal the layers and then put it straight into the icing bag is definitely a good idea. Have subscribed.
