While you're cutting up the body, craft bones for fish hooks to go with the rope for the fishing rod. Fishing is silent, hiding in the reeds for instance, and provides great nutrition 🇦🇺

I always use a Sawed off shotgun as my go-to sidearm in DayZ. I put it on double shot and use it as a last resort with maximum damage.

Leather backpack is my fave for the high capacity whilst being smaller than military backpacks. The size of your silhouette has a major impact on visibility to other players. Sawed off shotgun is an incredibly powerful sidearm and close-quarters room clearer. I'd rock it more often but sometimes it's a long while before you find the saw and you probably already have a decent pistol, by that I mean anything other than the IJ-70, Kolt 1911, and P1, being the trashiest pistols all things considered. 1911 > IJ-70 > P1. Derringer is kinda underrated with its considerably higher health damage over those pistols and is a better early-starter pistol. Weapon selection in DayZ is very much a balancing act. Ghillie-wise, I prefer the ghillie cloak, which covers more than the shrug. Doesn't turn you into a giant wookie drawing lots of attention when you're on the move but it still breaks up your outline pretty well in conjunction with camo and ghillie rifle wraps. You'll need high capacity clothing anyway to make up for not having a backpack. Speaking of camo, I'd like to see somebody do an in-depth comparison of the effectiveness of the different camos in various environments, like trees, bushes, grasses, weeds, forest ground cover, cliffs/rock-faces, the effectiveness of different camo at a distance on the horizon when you're moving through woodlands and you get that mix of harsh light and shadow. I wonder if the American BDUs are better than say the dark green hunter camo, autumn hunter, or the various camo combat jackets, then again the BDUs wont allow you really blend in to pine branches and pines are so prevalent in the setting, but then again I suspect the BDUs excel in harsh light/harsh shadow forest conditions and they do have a nice break-up blend of various forest colors. We need a serious analysis. Keep those sunglasses BTW!

Yo! Instead of a ghille suit or shrug, I use a ghille hood, ghille wraps on both my guns and the leather backpack. It's pretty good camo without having to give up your backpack slot.

I need to try it out more often. You can put a scope on the sawed off mosin correct? The opposite player is far less likely to realize you've got what is essentially still a long-range weapon. It's all about da mind gamez. Though typically I go silence and stealth. Suppress-sniping players and not even having to move positions, because they can't pinpoint where I am, but you must be concealed obviously.

@@GiantBoarMonster i current go to setup is an AK, sawn off mosin and sawn off double barrel shotgun, with a silenced 1911 handgun in the holster as a backup - I'm having a lot of fun with it and ammo is easy to find for all.

@@flaminx0r That's very powerful and versatile, compact kit for sure. You'd even have space for strong melee weapon on your back if you wanted. I'm in love with the crossbow because I'm not so good at headshots with the .22 pistol. Makes dealing with strong mlitary zombies quite the breeze and in case somebody else is around they won't hear me. And I seek out Hunting loot locations often enough that I'll come across bolts which you can reuse quite a bit before they ruin.

As a Veteran and sweatty player, DO NOT craft the sawed shotgun, bullets spray is ridiculous... You wont hit anything further than 4 mts..

I think the idea is a last resort sidearm at extreme close range. You are out of ammo on your 2 long guns, or no time to reload, enemy is right at your door kind of situation. But I do agree with what you are saying.
