10 жыл бұрынHere are 5 commercials collected together.for your enjoyment. The first commercial has Eastern Airlines showing off its new Boeing 727 and how quiet it is. "Quiet as a library." Don't you wish you could have lobster newburg or filet mignon as you are "flying north." Today you are lucky to get peanuts, and they charge you if you want the whole can of coke. :) Too bad they are no longer flying, after "labor disputes & a crippling strike in 1989, Eastern ran out of money & was liquidated in 1991." -wikipedia These videos are for educational purposes.

The irony about this all ... is while it might have been quieter than a 707 / DC8 with their original JT4A turbojets, these 727s were among the loudest jetliners made. You could hear their jet roar from over 12 miles away!

I can vouch for that. Way back in 1973, my mother and I flew from NYC to Miami for a two-week vacation on an Eastern L-1011 WhisperLiner. After the first week, we flew from Miami to Orlando to visit Disney World on an Eastern 727 WhisperJet. We sat in the rear of the plane right next to the engines. Whisper my foot! Those things were so loud they actually scared my mom.

Obnoxious, know-it-all kid in the first commercial (yuck). Otherwise a great batch of commercials. Only wish someone would find and post a commercial from Eastern's terrific mid-70s "You Gotta Believe" campaign! Though as I rule I prefer 60s to 70s, those had a jingle that was worthy of any of the Sixties: "Up, Up and Away -- TWA", United's "Come Fly With Me" and Pan Am's "The Going's Great". (My three personal favs).

Yeah, and don't forget Western Airline's "The Only Way to Fly" ad campaign. And National Airline's "I'm Cheryl. Fly Me" campaign from the early 1970s.
