5 Ways to Market Your Art Outside Instagram / For Artists Selling Products

I will share 5 ways (and a bonus tip) I've been able to market my art business outside Instagram, without paying for ads. My business account has less than 10k followers on IG so you know I'm not pulling your leg :).
Many of us launched our public facing creative careers on Instagram. It is (or used to be) a visual photo sharing app that was the perfect place to share our art with strangers on the Internet. Many of us grew our following and business on the platform and have even built a nice community of other supportive creatives. BUT it's a very different place in 2021. It's gotten really really saturated with all kinds of businesses vying for consumers' attention. It's time to put your eggs in different baskets.

I was definitely tempted to jump on every bandwagon out there when I first started but I completely agree, just focusing on one or a few is MUCH better than wearing yourself too thin.

right. it’s natural to want to try the next shiny tactic when the current one isn’t performing as we expected, but it’s usually because we’re impatient and haven’t given it enough time!

Instagram is not only difficult, but it is also very glitchy. It is unreliable. Thank you for sharing these tips. I was thinking about ways to market outside of Instagram. This video helped me greatly. Keep up the good work!

The next step for me is telling people about my art. Just like you said, it sounds very Icky and Scary for me. Personally more scary then anything cause if feels like I'm forcing myself onto people that I may or may not know. Not knowing how they will react, if they would receive it well, or just be completely uninterested. iDK... But I gotta try tho!

I'm only on instagram and no longer want to be there. I'm tired of the constant changes and jumping through the hoops to NEVER get seen. I left facebook years ago for the same reason. Just don't know what else to do. So thank you for this video.

Hello! I absolutely love your channel! It has helped me so very much in my freelance graphic design business. I have a question though, and I hope you can assist me. I am trying to print Postcards with my artwork, and I am having a lot of difficultly in finding quality paper for postcard printing. I want one side to be glossy (photo quality) and the other side to be plain in order to print the address lines and stamp information. I need something around 100 to 120 lb weight. Do you have any papers that you would recommend?? I've looked on Amazon, but they don't always put the weight of the paper in the description, and this is frustrating. Thank you for any assistance you can offer. I greatly appreciate it!!!

I’m not familiar with any paper that’s glossy on one side and matte on the other, but if you look for coated matte paper, it might still achieve what you’re looking for.
