As we journey through life, things can get more complex. Many of us try to balance family, work, and our personal to-do lists, among a few other things.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to slow down every now and then? Or catch up on tasks and chores without getting overwhelmed?
Today I'll share 5 things I simplify in my life that've been helping to eliminate unnecessary stress, expenses, and time.
Simplifying Wardrobe
When everything you have in your closet are pieces you actually like to wear, you no longer sift through so many clothes and take less time to choose what to wear.
At the end of the day, it's not about how many clothes we own but whether we genuinely like them and wear them instead of following fashion trends that only come and go.
Simplifying Daily Schedule
I don't know about you but I like to keep a to-do list everyday. I stuff as many tasks as possible with barely any blocks for rest.
So I have been keeping my to-do list to 5 max. I put the priority at the top, and if my quota is met, I put the other tasks in the snooze and revisit later list. Saying no doesn’t mean it’s no forever, it could just mean ‘not today.’ Remember that every time you say ‘yes’ to one thing, you’re saying ‘no’ to something else. This is your time and how you choose to spend it is up to you.
Always ask yourself what’s a priority for you right now?
Simplifying Skincare
With so many cleansers, serums, moisturizers, exfoliators, and peels available, your bathroom sink might be overflowing with products if we choose to buy and use them all. However, there's a simple alternative: the minimalist approach to skincare, which means reducing the number of products you use to the basics.
This approach isn't limited to people with naturally flawless skin; it's for everyone. It can be especially helpful if your skin is reacting poorly to a complex routine or multiple products that do more harm than good to your skin and to your wallet.
For me, my minimal skincare routine basically revolves around facial cleansing and moisturizing in the morning and in the evening. Once a week, I exfoliate using bentonite clay and do a home facial steam twice a month. That’s it.
If your skin thrives on a multi-step process and you enjoy pampering it with various products, that's perfectly fine. But if you're feeling overwhelmed by the number of products or the time it takes to get ready, you might want to give the minimalist approach a try.
Simplifying Health
I've noticed that when I stick to simple and realistic goals, I'm more likely to accomplish them. If things get too complicated, it can get unnecessarily expensive and frustrating. I believe this applies to many aspects of life, especially when it comes to my health and fitness.
For me, my health and fitness routine includes the basics - walk daily, make healthier food choices, and get enough sleep each night. I don’t need to be a weightlifter, run a marathon, stick to a strict diet or take expensive supplements to be healthy.
Small and consistent steps are more feasible for me, so that’s what I do.
Simplifying Chores
Chores become overwhelming when they pile up. But when we do a little each day, and get into the habit of putting things back to their place, it becomes more manageable.
Simple and Less Complicated Life
Simplifying your life is all about finding ways to handle your responsibilities and creating space for the things you genuinely want to do.
While it can’t eliminate challenges in life, in my experience, it certainly makes things a bit easier.
These are just some tweaks I made to make my life simpler and reduce decision fatigue while at the same time maintaining resonance with my possessions and activities.
Life is full of surprises and there will always be unexpected things to come our way. So for me, I find it more sensible to simplify my systems and day to day instead of adding unnecessary stress to my life.
