In 1989 Lorton, Virginia, five year old Melissa Brannen disappeared from a Christmas party. The FBI look to forensics to find where the missing girl went and trace her possible abductor.
The FBI Files is an American television docudrama series. Each episode describes actual FBI cases which include murder, narcotics, bank robberies, and kidnapping as well as other crimes. These are portrayed through dramatic reenactments and interviews with agents and forensic scientists who worked on the investigations.

She had only one child. I am not female, but for many woman, having children makes them feel "full". This is something I learned from my wife. Tammy must have been left feeling very empty. Reminds me I had a 30 year old friend who was an only child to his parents. My friend commit suicide. I felt so bad for all of them.

I’m a Swedish woman of Estonian parents, born 1955. When I was 4-10 years my parents many times warned me of dangerous men, but I remember thinking of them as old(+35), strange and dangerous-looking. I don’t know if I would suspect a young nice-looking man at a gathering. 😵‍💫

I knew little Melissa and Tammy and the Parents..they lived less than half a mile from my House..Her Grandpa a Col in the army used to bring me his dog to groom..It was a horrific sickening crime !!!

I just feel so sad for Melissa’s mother Tammy. That feeling when you loose sight of your child for only a moment is so intense and I can’t even imagine what it would be like to have that feeling ongoing, to not know when or how it would end. That the community did whatever they could to help assist authorities and the family is so good to hear. I’m just so sorry that they didn’t find Melissa safe and well, so so sad.

I think someone in the prison, another inmate maybe could get close enough to him and he'd open up on where her body is or was. Him washing all of that in the washer screams guilty. He lived 4 miles from where the party was and he took the long way home?! Yeah, super guilty

I remember that. I can't believe it was so long ago, my family lived about ten miles from there and considered a safe neighborhood. It made everyone so scared about our children out of our sight. It ruined Christmas. my heart ached for her mother; I often wonder how her mother is doing after all these years.

Poor child...I can not imagine how she must be spending each moment with strangers who might be cruel and mistreating her sexually too..oh no.....(hoping she is alive!) May the divine angles be there with her to protect her and bring her back to her parents. Can not understand why and how strangers do such harm to innocent kids? I'm not sure if you finished the video or not, but sadly, the poor child was not returned to mother safely, or alive. This was a case from a very long time ago. If I remember correctly, I believe it was sometime in the 80s.

It doesn’t matter where you are or where you go. If you have your child with you, keep an eye on them at all times. When Tammy let Melissa out of her sight for a second, the child vanished, never to be seen or heard from again. So parents, please! Never let your child out of your sight!

It is not knowing what happened to Melissa that is the hardest part for her poor mother Tammy at least if you know that your child had been killed you can lay her to rest and try and get on with your life again I wonder who Melissa mum Tammy is doing today 😭

The FBI introductory comments are pertinent in this series and much to the point. It is a little disconcerting to see his eyes go back and forth as he reads the teleprompter above the camera.
