The linguistic term for the blending of sounds you were describing (like “bus stop”) is called “anticipatory assimilation” in English. And Gordon is right that many US speakers write or say “should of went” instead of “should’ve gone.” Drives me nuts.

LOL, with tears!!! (Headphones --- what on earth did he have to eat that caused THAT thunderous emission?) * * * Este video es otro ejemplo de enseñar con autenticidad, y es la manera más efectiva de todas, en mi opinión. Gracias por el contenido de hoy. He apuntado muchas notas, pero nada sobre los pedos. Jajajajajaja....

Mi marido es muy capaz de "giving Gordon a run for his money." LOL (Tengo unas habilidades a veces.) Cynthia means something like this in English: it was a fun night = it was a funight. (Like one word) Or I have eight tickets = I have eightickets, the two words blend together and sound like one.

Speaking on topic here, honestly, there is one last phenomena about the Spanish Language which I believe hasn´t been digitally processed and analytically surveyed as an entity. I refer to Spanish language stems. Ah sure, the very basics like poner, tener and the root-verb derivatives. Not that easy crap! I´m talking about the three and four letter ancient language prefix derivatives like TRAS, ANTE, and SOS. It´s like, if we take TRAS and put it in a circle, the hands of its clock, I believe a pattern exists to which many stems do use the same meaning alterations. A, Ab, Ac, Ad, An, Am, Az, Ben, Bef, Bi, Co, De, E, gente, ... like this, and we can see that TRAS won´t be able to use them all but, there´s a pattern to which, I believe these super-stems have the same meaning gifted from Ancient Greek or Latin. Abnormal. It´s not a girl´s name, right? Abstract. Abduct. Absent. There´s something there, all the same, with the meaning of «ab».
@LightSpeedSpanishChannel
@LightSpeedSpanishChannel Жыл бұрын
ab-, abs-. Prefijo latino que denota generalmente separación, o ideas más o menos relacionadas con la de separación, y que se encuentra en vocablos tomados directamente del latín, o de formación culta, como abrogar, absolución, absceso, abstenerse, abstracto, etc.

Cynthia es muy graciosa in the US we say "should of" all the time. Once I was writing a person from Romania and they corrected me. I was totally embarrassed because I hadn't even noticed that

LOL! One of my pet peeves... not when spoken, as it doesn't matter that much, knowing that it's really "should've"but gosh, when I see it WRITTEN, it drives me nuts! Hi guys, love your vid's and learnt a lot from them already. I have a question about 'atrás / detrás'. I often hear them say: "el baño está atrás". But if the 'a' discribes movement...shouldn't it be 'el baño está detras' ? Or is it just one of these exceptions or things? Thx
@LightSpeedSpanishChannel
@LightSpeedSpanishChannel Жыл бұрын
