THPS3 was kind of the peak of "pure" Tony Hawk experience. All the fundamentals were absolute perfection in it. 4, Wasteland and Undergrounds were good too, but 3 was the point where series reached that special spot where there was nothing to add and nothing to take away. The additions later on in the series were more or less additions for sake of additions and didn't really make the core experience any better.

the reason darth maul was stated to be born in iridonia is because that was his canon birth planet due to him being a zabrak . it wasn't until over a decade later they retconned him as being a nightbrother from the planet dathomir in the clone wars series after revealing he hadn't died in episode 1.

You forgot a fact - Secret Skater stat points have unique names: Darth Maul - Force Points Wolverine - Mutation Points Officer Dick - Donut Points Private Carrera - Demerit Points Ollie the Magic Bum - Puke Points Kelly Slater - Break Points Demoness - Possession Points Neversoft Eyeball just has regular stat points Wolverine, Dick, Ollie and Eyeball all have their names called out by photographers. Maul, Dick, Carrera and Demoness also can cause NPCs to do the same thing they cause the Skateshop guy to do (Choke, Cower, Dance and Shrink). The NPCs need to be ones who jump out of the way rather than ones that get knocked over or ones that knock you over. The Xbox exclusive character, X-Ray, leaves a blood splatter on the ground after you pick him, the splatter stays even after you change character, but it only stays for a minute or so. X-Ray can also be given hair, hats and glasses, and for some reason you can change his shoe color despite him not being able to wear shoes. Private Carrera isn't listed as 'Corporal Carrera' in the Xbox version, I assume she was listed as 'Corporal' as mistake in the PS2 version and this was corrected in the other versions. THPS3 was the first time Wolverine was playable in a 3D space, as his first 3D model was X-Men Mutant Academy 2, which came out a month prior to THPS3, but that game was a 2.5D fighter. Also not a THPS3 fact but a THUG fact - i'm pretty sure Iron Man's appearance in THUG was the first time he got a 3D model

Kinda wild if you think about the kids in this game: so much time has passed since this game released that it's actually likely that the kids that were in this game have their own children, some of whom could/would be the ages their parents were in this game lol.

Yeah, it's crazy seeing how Riley Hawk was only 7 when this game came out and he appeared in it as a secret CAS, and now seeing him appear fully grown in THPS 1+2, again as a playable character. Time flies.

for #5, my theory is that the "true" captain was a neversoft employee who did the loudspeaker stuff as a temp. then they got a pro VO and replaced his, but the first guy was all like "maaan there goes my funny VOs. wait, what if we kept mine in behind some really obscure easter egg". that always made sense to me. does anyone actually know for real what the deal is?

Looking back over the video now it's finished, during the Neversoft devs section at #39, there's both Brian Jennings and Captain Jennings. Could be a coincidence, but I wonder if Brian voiced the captain.

The first THPS game I ever played was THPS3 on PS1, and I did remember the Downhill level at the end. Years later when I eventually got the PS2 version, after already owning THPS4, THUG, and THAW, I was surprised at how different it was from what I remembered on PS1 and was confused why the Downhill level wasn't in it lol

1. The 5th gen versions have incorrect names on the tricks. Mute has been duplicated to have an identical-looking trick named "Seatbelt Air". If you have been wondering why Indy Nosebone is absent, it turns out the trick is in the game, but is incorrectly named "Crail Grab". Thankfully the real Crail Grab animation appears on the Crail Slide special trick. The Crail Grab can be done as a special grind (via Crail Slide) but not as a mid-air trick. 2. If you don't play the PS2 version of THPS3, certain songs will be cut completely, or be censored to remove references to said console. "Amoeba", "Hush", "Let's Get Dirty", "Paparazzi", "I'm Destroying The World"*, "I'm A Swing It", "I Can't Surf" and "96 Quite Bitter Beings" are absent from the 5th gen versions completely. "Check", "Amongst The Madness", "Fight Like A Brave", "What's The Matter Man", "The Boy Who Destroyed The World" and "Pulse" are absent from the Nintendo 64 version. * This song can still be heard on the Custom Skaters' ending movie (Bails 1). 3. The unlock conditions for Bails 1 and Bails 2 have been reversed on the PlayStation version. Obtaining a third medal plays Bails 2, while getting three gold medals with a Custom Skater plays Bails 1. 4. The FMVs on the PlayStation version have been cut down in length to save on disc space. These FMVs feel a little more like the ones found in THPS2. 5. Fencing has been applied to the Tokyo entrance in the 5th gen versions, preventing players from falling if heading the wrong way. 6. No moving obstacles appear in any of the levels on the 5th gen versions. 7. The ice cream truck in Suburbia has been conveniently parked near a pole that can be broken to destroy the parked truck, but that is in the 5th gen versions. Just perform a quarterpipe transfer to break the wire holding the pole. You can hear the ice cream truck music slowed down once the truck is destroyed. 8. The elevators in Los Angeles can be used to access the rooftop of a building, leading to a grindable wire that goes down to a mini halfpipe at the streets. 9. It is possible to get stuck in a wall of a building in Los Angeles. Attempting to ride up a quarterpipe into the wall of a building that contains the elevators will cause your skater to be suspended mid-air forever, and the game softlocks during overtime. 10. The N64 version allows you to skate into the pungee pits as long as the offset rails are placed at the edge of the pungee pits. There is a 33% chance you won't be warped back to the level, allowing you to skate through the pungee pits without any harm to the player. 11. The N64 version incorrectly has Hawk and Margera holding the board on the left hand at the Skate Shop, despite being Goofy-stanced skaters. Regular-stanced skaters hold the board on the left hand while Goofy-stanced skaters hold the board on the right hand normally. 12. You can softlock the N64 version by holding Z and Start for three seconds straight during gameplay. There is a 99% chance the softlock will happen. However, the game can never softlock if performing the soft reset on hi-res (480i) menus. 13. The N64 version's Horse mode runs in 30FPS regardless of Expansion Pak. Other versions (including the PlayStation) version run Horse mode in 60FPS. 14. Tag mode is only present in the 5th gen versions. 15. This is the only Tony Hawk game on PS2 and GameCube to allow replay data to be saved onto a storage device to be loaded and played in the Option mode. 16. Replays use multiple, dynamic camera angles on the 5th gen versions while the gameplay camera gets used on the 6th gen versions instead. 17. Unless you play on the 5th gen versions, you can't assign flip tricks to the grab button or assign grab tricks to the flip button. This is critical to getting GameCube controllers to work on the PS one version on the PlayStation 3 (or getting the BladeGC or BattlerGC remapped properly on PSX/PS2/PS3 via Defender receiver). 18. Unless you play on the 5th gen versions, you can't remap the shoulder buttons. This is critical to allowing nollies and switches/reverts to the shoulder buttons of a GameCube controller when used with a PS3-compatible GameCube-to-USB Controller Adapter. 19. Of the two 5th gen versions, the PlayStation version is the only one to allow camera movement, but it requires an analog controller since that feature is mapped to the right stick. Despite the Nintendo 64 having a Control Stick, the camera can't be controlled with it. Instead, it's used to control the skater. 20. On the N64 version, you can pause the game and resuming after it's paused long enough allows you to hear parts of the songs you wouldn't normally hear if you don't pause the game. 21. The last cheat on PlayStation is Level Flip, but the last cheat on N64 is instead Super Revert, allowing you to revert without slowing down the player. Super Revert would be added back in for Project Pro Skater Volume 3, a mod of the PS one port of THPS3. 22. There are no rail extensions, pivots or hidden combos on the 5th gen versions. However, you can still perform the Triple Kickflip, Double Hardflip and Triple Heelflip as special tricks. 23. The PS one version makes cash register sounds for collecting decks, collecting stat points and ending name entry after getting a high score. Probably this is a leftover from THPS2, which used money as collectables. 24. This is the last Nintendo 64 game to be officially licensed by Nintendo and be released. 25. This is the only N64 Tony Hawk game to not have the word "hell" censored. This becomes apparent in one of the level's gaps. 26. A mod for THPS3 on PS one exists in the form of Project Pro Skater Volume 3. It's a compilation of levels from THPS1-4, and contains music from previous Tony Hawk and Mat Hoffman games, as well as some songs performed by Casey Mongillo. There is a save file containing all of the levels unlocked, as well as a playable Casey Mongillo.

26. Bizarrely, some sounds on the PS1 version of Tony Hawk 3 are higher pitched than their PS2 counterparts. Notably this affects the goal completion sound, collecting a S-K-A-T-E letter, and the bucket pouring warning. 27. A series of gaps in the PS1 version of the Foundry reference the Simpsons episode, Homer's Phobia, where Homer accidentally takes Bart to a foundry that doubles as a gay nightclub. 28. Officer Dick being in riot gear in the PS1 version may be another leftover from the Airport terrorist mission 29. Although not as intense as the 6th Gen versions, the PS1 version does feature some set destruction, such as raising the platform and knocking the bucket over in the foundry, grinding an electric rail that triggers an explosion in Los Angeles, and felling the tree with TNT in Canada. 30. The announcements from the PS2 version are replaced with an eerie, echoing, nonsense that also gets used for the version of the Airport that makes it to THUG2

@@carsausage #30 is used if you play with the music turned off and hear the ambience of the level instead.
@NewGabeOrder
@NewGabeOrder 5 ай бұрын
@@carsausage Here's more. 32. If you max out Career mode with any skater, Berserker, Claw Punch and Claw Drag are usable on the Nintendo 64 version. The PlayStation version locks these same special tricks to Wolverine, as maxing out Career Mode with any other skater doesn't allow these special tricks to be used. 33. The 5th gen versions of THPS3 make Claw Drag a special grind as opposed to being a special manual. It's not the case for THPS4 PSE, where Little Head Push exists as a special manual. 34. Silencing the common BGM in the PlayStation version plays level ambience, as this is the final Activision O2 sports game and the final Tony Hawk game to allow level ambience on any version, counting the PlayStation version. Downhill even has its own ambience on the PlayStation version. 35. Skater Island has no audible ambience, but the PlayStation version can be modded to add BGM to Skater Island if the common BGM volume is silenced. 36. The PlayStation version's Game Credits BGM is a medley of the Foundry ambience followed by "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "Wish" in that order. 37. The PlayStation version has no level previews on the level select screen, instead opting to use a placeholder THPS3 logo as shown in the Main Menu. However, the Nintendo 64 version does display level previews as long as the level select menu is displayed. Due to the absence of FMVs the level previews are static images. 38. Career mode is the same regardless of skater type. Even on Street type skaters, a "Cannonball over the halfpipe" goal is always present on the Foundry level. 39. Only the 5th gen versions of THPS3 have the All-Around trick type, which isn't present in any other version. As a result, Steve Caballero and Bam Margera end up as Street-type skaters in latter versions despite being all-rounders'. Even the 6th-gen ports of THPS4 made Bob Burnquist a Vert-type skater due to the absence of All-Around trick types.

Regarding Darth Maul's planet of origin, it was correct in THPS 3 circa 2001, where there was only one race of Zabraks, Iridonian. It was not until the 2011 episode of The Clone Wars titled "Monster" that introduced the idea that Darth Maul was initially from Dathomir. Until the retcon Darth Maul was a heavily tattooed Iridonian Zabrak.

I love that these old Games have a Demake version for PS1. So you can experience what it would be, to have it on PS1, because it exist. I think that the Airport is in the Night, could be that they didn't have the Power for the Skybox, so they had to keep the basic Black. (Take a look at the T-Rex Level in Tomb Raider 1). I am pretty sure, THPS3 and 4 were designed for PS2 Generation first, and then downgraded for PS1. So many things of the level structure needed to be simpler. Canada is an example. I guess trees took more Polygons then simple Large houses, with a flat texture.

5:05(ish) - just wanna chime in and say that a LOT of games use the "duplicated scenery" trick for Reflections...it was a helluva lot Easier on the CPU (remember, this is an Xbox/Gamecube/PS2 game; real-time Ray-Tracing is still years away) and it achieved the goal needed, of "looking like a reflection", so it was pretty standard back then... ...hell, even Zelda:OoT, on the N64, had some clever 'reflection tricks', like for Dark Link's Room...nowadays, im sure you can just click the checkbox to make your graphics instantly pretty, but back in the day, the devs had to use some Creativity to let us players use some Imagination...and thats why people 'look at' a Triangle shooting Dots at Circles, but "see" a Spaceship shooting Lasers at Asteroids...

My brother and I found a lot of these secrets way back in the day on the Gamecube , I remember we played hide and seek using the out of bounds alleys in Rio. You can also grind on the airplane in Suburbia, similar to the cars in Tokyo, not sure how obscure that one is.

The inverted cross isn't necessarily a satanic symbol as it was originally meant to be Saint Peter's cross as Pete requested to be crucified upside-down as he felt unworthy to die like Christ. It's just that satanic cults and heavy metal bands co-opted it as a sinister subversion; an inverted _crucifix_ on the other hand is considered blasphemous. Ralph D'Amato would later go on to produce the documentary about the games.

Can you maybe do a video about the Mods for the PC Version of the od Tony Hawk Games? I Never played them on anything else then PS2, but hearing over and over from Mods there, I really think about buying them, but I fear that I might not good enough in them, to get the Mods running, or maybe the game it all, because it is so old.

I'm actually quite baffled at number 50. The reason why i'm baffled is because (for you Matt) you say Tony Hawk's Skateboarding. That's because Tony Hawk's Skateboarding is the European name of the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. If you don't know why they changed the name for the European release (and that's according to The Cutting Room Floor), that's because the term pro skater would imply or be confused with an ice skater for European audiences. Interestingly, the European name made it to the later North American Nintendo 64 revision.
