When I want to take a little break from Gran Turismo content, I pick one of my favourite games from when I was younger and create some content around it. 28:20 btw, "slowpoke" is just slang for "being very slow", ie if someone is taking a long time to get ready for the day, you call them a slowpoke. It's not necessarily a pokemon reference, just a joke about busses in America being very slow and inefficient

The Demo you mention about Manhattan was recorded by AndyTHPS. He also recorded similar Demos for some later games like THUG2 and THAW. You can tell since he wears the same Asian inspired hat in them. He was the administrator for a Tony Hawk related fansite that was later hired at Neversoft

Pleasantly surprised to see THUG on this channel. Worth noting that hitting the puck into the goals on Vancouver is needed to get a couple of gaps. Also, IIRC the Manhattan demo was recorded by andyTHPS, who was testing for Neversoft at the time. Played this game since I was a kid, but over 10 of these facts are all new to me. Great video as always!

Yes, this is correct! Hitting the pucks into the goals, and then grinding on top of the goals simultaneously will net you the "Red Goal" and "Blue Goal" gaps depending on which goal it actually is!

I feel like I'm super lucky to have grown up when these games were coming out. What microtransactions have done to video games is dispicable. Kids today will never understand how cool it was as these consoles and games were expanding and getting better every year. Because it's not like that anymore.

As someone who suffered from having a broken PS3 and no money for a PS4 in middle school and early high school I spent alot of time playing PS2 games. I came back to this game so many times and played with EVERY cheat active. I even managed to get out of bounds using the gravity cheat

The attention to detail and secrets were really good in this game. I remember most of the glitches and easter eggs but some of them I never knew about.

hahaha that Manhattan demo is AndyTHPS, he wears the same outfit in every game (or at least he did back then) also, in Slam City Jam you can get outside the map by doing a glitch that disables the killbox when you go up one of the rails into the top part of the crowd, get outside of the map by doing some kid of jump thing then find an area that has the same weird floor that doesn't let you skate on it...but on the walls, and it bounces you back and forth like a bouncy ball going 15,000 kmph

Well, no. The game without all the Easter eggs would be boring. They relied on that stuff because the game NEEDED it. Games are way more mechanically demanding these days and thus are just fun to play. Not look around and laugh at some dumb Easter eggs non stop lmao

I remember playing this on XBConnect back in the day with a small community. They showed me cool glitches like getting out of bounds with the set restart function and the climbing the ledge n jump glitch. They made clown shoes very popular. I remember playin with someone who went by the name Moe. I went by Ghost. This takes me back. Good times.

I jus saw your MK Deception video, and there is a mystery on Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks i see no one talk about and you should take a look. When you die in the game, some messages appear on screen, one of them says "Did you feed ALL trees in the forest". In fact, there are some trees in the forest you can feed them to get some hints and progress through story. HOWEVER.... there are one tree that is IMPOSSIBLE to feed, the one in the area that smoke is. Since the are nothing else on the area (except smoke) you can't feed her, neither discover what hint it gives to you.

With 34:59, the cutscene glitches happen when inside a car too... When you exit the cutscene the skater will be stuck inside the car. Also in new jersey, because some of the level objects disappear when in a car, some of the cutscenes play incorrectly when you view from inside the car. If I recall, in the one where you meet Stacy Peralta, he'll be floating while meditating. I think you can see Eric T-posing as well in one of them too.

Loved this! Takes me back to a simpler time where unlocking tons of characters was part of the game and not something you paid for. I hope you do more of these in the future

Thug is the best tony hawk game in my opinion. The style, theme, story mode, characters, everything. And 50 of these I knew, except the character customised thing for the team for the game. Spent way too much time on this as a kid back in the day.

2:06 lolz Well, this I didn't know, but is it a feature across all iterations, or only a few? 14:00 "Stile jumpers will be shot on sight!" (probably my favorite one of these lolz) 16:42 lolz It always sounded like a *_Charlie's Angels_* reference to me. "The Chad is stuck." 19:28 Same dev slammed a massive combo in East LA for the single recorded demo of THAW. 22:58 "Aurora Borealis; at this time of day, in this part of the country..." lmfao (I couldn't resist) 28:12 Remember the manual special 'Lazy Ass Manual'? In THAW, one can sort of recreate it by using 'Sit Down Air'. No arse smacking though. 29:08 #TCRF Note: The car shown here is a different asset, or rather, a group of assets; originally, the vehicle was the same asset but it was possible to utilize a glitch to drive it, and it would animate whilst driving which had a non-zero percent chance of hard-crashing the game every frame. 31:18 That car is a hidden asset but it can be accessed (if one knows how) and it is driveable. It has two different designs even. 38:36 It's one of my annoyances; trying to moongrav climb to get to the ledge to grind is really difficult here... 39:46 "AND THE TROGDOR COMES IN THE NIGHT!!!" lolz (it's also a song and said song is a bonus song in Guitar Hero II) 39:56 ♫Heart of a lion, and the wings of a bat, because it's midnite!♫ (part of the main setlist in Guitar Hero ENCORE: Rocks the 80's) 42:20 One can find copies of every previous THPS game (and more than one of each of them) in that room. I've never seen this mentioned anywhere on the internet but if you get into a car (at least on the GC version) it culls your board out of cutscenes. You can watch yourself jump over a helicopter on an invisible skateboard.

19:07, I'm pretty sure most (if not all, might be wrong) are recorded by andyTHPS, and he even has an easter egg on Los Angeles THUG 2 version if you manual down the ledge on the staircase at the start of the map. 25:34, Bam's video isn't the only one like this. 41:33 Also notice 'S. Fingaz' on the ticket machines. This is most likely a reference to the rapper Sticky Fingaz, even though he's never appeared on a Tony Hawk game soundtrack (at least not to my knowledge).

This is so nostalgic. I was like 12 when this game came out and I remember turning on Moon Gravity to get out of bounds. There was something different about how you played games when you only had a couple and couldn't get more.

That Demo line is by a professional player who played at the games debut at the Tony Hawk Boom Boom Huck Jam. I went to one of them in Tampa and that was how they showcased the game. Was fantastic. Also I saw a video last year with one of the devs discussing the "kurt" sign but I'll need to get back to you on that as I forgetti.

all these demos 18:54 were done by a dev that goes by the name andythps, he got the gig because he was known as the best player around 2003. he currently streams, and also has a youtube channel with tons of thps content. def recommend checking his channel/streams out!

Absolutely amazing video. You showed me even more I did not know even from the countless hours ive spent playing this game and abusing moon gravity 🤣. Also side note the person with the black sun hat in the demo video you showed of the combo in manhattan is AndyTHPS who was so good at the game they hired him at 16 while he was in High School and he became a developer. Hes pretty popular on twitch and KZfaq now and I think hes some kind of lead programmer over at Vicarious Visions and worked TREMENDOUSLY hard on the new THPS 1+2 REMAKE game.

I've seen everyone talk about every other tony hawk game. But not once have I seen people talk about underground 2. Which is my favourite game, and really the only tony hawk game I cared about.

Some bonus facts (though these don't exist in the final game, but worth a mention): THUG1's leaked beta contained levels from other games. These include a couple Motocross tracks from MTX Mototrax, THPS4's London & practice level, THPS1's Philadelphia, School 1, and everyone's favourite: Downhill Jam. There's two extra levels that are interesting, one being Australia, although that one is much MUCH different than THUG2's counterpart, and the most bizarre level of all: The (obviously unfinished) overworld from GUN called "West Side."

I don't know if this is something you already knew but if you use moon gravity to get into the little office room you break out of in Manhattan you get the breaking in gap. I always wondered how to get it without cheats.

26:30 Have some details on this. The reason Sailor Man is on Bam's promo video is because it's made up of clips from his (then) most recent part in Elementality (an Element skateboards video you should check out that's on KZfaq atm). In it he's talking about his car and says he'll do burnouts in it so long as "Sailor Man by Turbonegro is playing". But the version they use in that video is the same Real McKenzies cover. So that wasn't a "mistake" on Neversoft's part, it was Element's and probably not a mistake at all. If you look at the soundtracks of skate videos at the time of each game's release, you'll see that a whole lot of the THPS soundtracks pull from them, which is why there's normally that crossover in the promo videos. Actually, the Element team promo you can watch after winning Tampa Am features Join Me by HIM, which also isn't in the game soundtrack. I think that getting official rights sorted out was a pain in the ass at the time as Turbonegro had only recently reformed and publishing rights for their back catalogue in different territories was up in the air. The album it's from, Ass Cobra, had multiple publishers at the time and had just changed hands in 2003. So I imagine Activision/Neversoft just couldn't get the rights to include any version of it in the official soundtrack. The Real KcKenzies cover being in a promo video was probably covered by a different type of contract....or like many skate videos, Element just didn't ever get the official rights, no lawyers were looking THAT closely at the game, and nobody cared to sue.

the moment with the Bam's Movie, specifically the part saying that devs took accidentally a Real McKenzies cover is probably not true, because the same song with te same video parts is in the Elementality skate video, so I think Neversoft just went the easy way, which is likely because every THUG1 cinematic is much shorter than these in THPS3 or 4

Im surprised you didnt mention the Tampa car glitch with the alligator. On that level, if you drive the car into the alligator, it will respawn you and the. You are able to drive off a certain area of the map and into the water. Theres nothing special outside of the map but driving in the water is fun, and for some reason your tires turn invisible underwater

The Hockey Goals could have been a great idea for a custom game mode of 4 on 4 hockey in free skate mode. Too bad no one thought of that idea before the online servers shut down.
