One big difference that wasn't mentioned and I'd really love to have on bedrock is that on java you can mark locations on your map with a banner, so that if you place the map in an item frame or just hold it you can see where the banner is(and a name if you name tagged the banner). And another one is that on java you can add banners to shields, unfortunately that's not available on bedrock even though minecraft bedrock has a thriving multiplayer community and having banners on shields would be a nice touch to show what clan you're in or what not
@somuchdirt74
@somuchdirt74 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, when I first got into the game I was quite disappointed to realize map banner wasn't in bedrock version. Hopefully we get a similar mechanic that does it better than that at some point?

@augusto7886 2 жыл бұрын
@@somuchdirt74 I really hope so, I hate the idea of having to use behaviour packs just to fix the parity issues on bedrock. What's frustrating is that one of the long term goals is to fix the parity issues as much as possible (obviously somethings won't be possible for example placing blocks with the offhand because controllers just don't have enough buttons) but even so, each new update that comes out, not only do they not fix some of the differences, but they add even more differences which will just mean more work for a later date😭😭

Putting a locator map in an item frame will show as a player on the locator map you are holding. For example, putting a locator map in your house and having a locator map in your inventory means you can use the one you have to find your house. That's on bedrock
@augusto7886
@augusto7886 2 жыл бұрын
@@jeremymathewjoseph6926 I am aware that this is possible, however, that makes the fact that map banners don't exist even more frustrating because it isn't that hard of a fix to implement, the banners have a distinct icon in the primary colour of the banner also containing a name either above or under it, my main world which I've had for a couple of years would benefit alot in having this, as I have a lighthouse at spawn which contains a large map on the ground of the surrounding areas, and the simple player pointer icon just doesn't look that good in comparison(as well as for the fact that being able to name the banners would help the aesthetics imo)

I play both versions I always wanted them to me just the same because bedrock combat is good and red stone in java is also good and if all features like that were added to both version it would make it more interesting and fun and 1.18 is making some progress in parity like simulation distance is in java and bedrock and java seeds look almost the same etc, but the sad truth is it will take too long to make parity between java and bedrock because of the languages difference but it can be possible with the hard work of the devs they are trying their best now
@zegatrox7815

I’m not completely pro Bedrock combat. It’s really cheesy honestly. Combat Tests are the superior in my opinion. They have the best of both worlds. Once they are fully developed and then implemented along with changes to mob AI and difficulty planned for Phase 2 of the tests, the experience across both versions will become so much more unified and more potentially challenging overall.

@@wisemeowster It's the opposite for me, and makes more sense. Do you play Java on PC and Bedrock on console? Might be a PC problem. When I go from Java to Bedrock I literally want to throw my computer out the window. I play both on PC and the weird mini latency/lag spikes on bedrock infuriate me. I don't get that at all on Java.

well chuck loading is different because bedrock is programmed to track less data in general the iron golem is a good example for this the pumpkin head has a 0 for normal and a 1 for carved the bedrock doesnt check or track that data when building a golem, it also doesnt show cracks for hp on bedrock to remove just a tiny less data that would be tracked since bedrock is mostly a console platform which are hard confined hardware (which also makes it easier to program smoothly since they are all the same) and pc's can vary widely so they choose the brute force option when it comes to loading data but pc's can track more data more easily when loading a good example for this is skyrim (pc can load dungeons much faster if you visited them before then console since pc can track what you looted more easily) tldr console easier to program since all builds are the same, pc has a large varity but much better data tracking

Another difference I have noticed is that farming small flowers in java is harder than in bedrock. In bedrock, regardless of the biome, having a specific type of flower placed on grass and bonemealing it causes flowers of the same type to spawn in nearby blocks. In java however you have to go to the specific biome of the desired flower and bonemeal a grass block and in between the grass that spawns there's a chance the flower you want spawns :>

In java you can place levers on the back of the piston, and you can place things on the top/bottom/sides but only if it’s hit box does not overlap with the piston arm. I figured out how to crawl in bedrock edition. It’s more like your swimming without water. First you have to make a 1 by 1 block hole where you want to get into to, then you need to have enough water to start swimming, once your’re horizontal you can enter and start digging or mining in that 1x1 block opening and keep going even when you aren’t under water anymore. Wasn’t hard to figure out, after I realized the trap door method didn’t work in Bedrock.

I’ve been plying both editions for years on and off, mostly Java edition, to me it seems like most of these things are issues where Java edition just has to make it work but bedrock has to make it work for every platform. Therefore, things that seem to require more dynamic coding tend to stay in Java and things that are more aesthetic go to bedrock imo. Also I feel like caves generate much less frequently and the landscape is overall much more boring in bedrock. Like, in my recent memory, bedrock looks like an old version of Minecraft where the biomes don’t cross at all. TLDR: Java edition is about staying true to the vision of Minecraft, bedrock is about pleasing the biggest crowd possible. Hence the dabbing armor stands.

Some things that are very different on both versions is: 1. There is no world border on Bedrock (the world starts breaking down at about 30k blocks out anyway though, so they can add the world border to Bedrock once they finally fix that). 2. Commands are extremely different on both versions. Commands are much easier to use on Bedrock, but there is way less you can do with them, you have much less freedom). 3. Throwables (Ender Pearls, Splash Potions, etc) work much differently on Bedrock. On Bedrock they look much bigger when thrown, and move much slower through the air, stopping you from being able to throw them far. This semi affects bows and crossbows too, since the arrows don’t fly as far or fast, it’s much less noticeable though and the arrows are the same size as on Java. 4. Bedrock has a unique bridging mechanic which doesn’t exist on Java. On Bedrock when you look off the edge of a block, you can place another block without having to lean over the edge of it to place it on the side of the other block). 5. On Java, you can use commands to get enchantments of extremely high levels, but on Bedrock they are restricted to the default max level (so for example, you can’t have Sharpness over the level of 5 on Bedrock, but on Java you can have Sharpness 100 or even higher if you wanted to). 6. There is no Hardcore mode on Bedrock, but there is on Java. 7. There are no Amplified worlds on Bedrock, and you can’t change how the world is generated (single biome, no villages, etc). But on Java, there are so many world settings when creating a world. 8. On Bedrock, there is no Glowing effect, or a proper Dolphin’s Grace effect (by that I mean it doesn’t show up as a status effect, and you can’t give it with commands. It’s a hidden effect that you can notice when swimming with dolphins. On Java it gives you the Dolphin’s Grace effect). 9. Bedrock doesn’t have the 1.9 Combat changes (I’m not complaining about this one though). 10. The ender dragon fight is different on Bedrock. The dragon AI is different, but there are also other differences too which I can’t exactly point out, but they are noticeable). The dragon fight seems harder on Bedrock. 11. Loot from chests and stuff like that are tied to the seed on Bedrock, but on Java it’s always random. 12. On Java, you can easily switch the version of the game on the launcher, but on Bedrock you are just stuck on the current version of the game (unless maybe you use third party apps or something). 13. Servers work much differently on Bedrock and are very limited/restricted. 14. You have to spend money to get skins, servers, etc on Bedrock, but on Java you can get/do that stuff for free and very easily. 15. On Java, you can download mods or addons, but on Bedrock you can only use addons (and you also have to pay for them). Mods allow you to completely change the game and add whatever you want, but Addons can only use assets, mechanics, etc from the game. One example of this is that with Mods, you can add vehicles to the game which are their own separate thing, but with Addons, they are actually just remodelled horses. 16. On Java, you can get the head of the skin of any player, but on Bedrock you only have the mob heads and steve head. 17. Java edition has Advancements, but on Bedrock you have Achievements (well if you play it on Xbox or Playstation anyway. I’m not sure about what happens when you play Bedrock edition on a pc/laptop). Advancements are separately tied to each world, but Achievements are done across all worlds / the entire game at once, so once you’ve done one, you can never do it again on that same account. 18. The lighting/graphics are different on Bedrock than Java. Everything looks more vibrant/colourful on Bedrock. Java looks dull. 19. The Ancient Cities seem to have less Sculk Shriekers on Bedrock, so it’s safer to traverse them. Maybe I just got lucky with the one I found though. 20. On Bedrock, you can use § to add effects to your text, like changing the colour of it, making the text bold or italics, or changing it to glitch text (which is basically unreadable). you can’t do that on Java. Btw it works on any kind of text, so on signs, in the chat, etc. How it works is that you put the § symbol, and then any letter/number after it without a space, so for example, you can do §4, which will make the text red, or you can do §l, to make the text bold. The “l” is a lowercase L btw (I’m saying this because the lowercase L and uppercase i look basically the same on this font). You can also combine them like this: §4§l, so the text will be red and bold. Any text, no matter what it is will be changed if it’s placed after that symbol, so you can do spaces and stuff like that if you want. §l will make text bold, §o will make text italics, §k will make the text glitchy, and §(insert number or certain letters here) will do different colours. Btw if you put a bullet point (•) before text, it will make the text tiny (it also makes your name in the chat tiny as well for some reason). It doesn’t need the §, but if you use that then the bullet point (•) won’t show. Certain other characters do the same thing as the bullet point (•) as well, but the bullet point (•) is the first one that I noticed. 21. There’s so Debug Stick on Bedrock (I think there used to be, but it got removed or something and I don’t know why). The Debug Stick changes the state of the block that you click when you’re holding the Debug Stick. You can get it on Java with the /give command. There were a couple other things I wanted to mention as well, but I forgot what they were. If I remember them, then I might edit this comment to include them.

I've always been a bedrock player, so I'm really glad with the aesthetics, i just wish we could place stuff on the bottom of trapdoors still, at least we can on top of them so far lol, other than that I'm just waiting for map markers with banners, which I wouldn't expect to be a difficult addition
