Round 2 - 1 Alarak and 85 Supplicants vs 100 Roaches and 50 Hydralisks
Round 3 - 225 Whirlwind Zealots vs 250 Elite Marines
Round 4 - 200 Guardians vs 8 Fenix (Dragoon)
Round 5 - 150 Slayers vs 55 Immortals

This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!

As far as I can tell its the EXACT same unit with a slightly different collision box/move speed which causes it to move a lil differently.

They are just as strong as dragoons, they only lost due to rng. I guess they can detect invisible units so they are better.

I just read the wiki data on dragoons and it even says lore-wise their armament was used for photon cannons after immortals took their place.

@@ham_the_spam4423 the mod tya uses has all units auto-target the carriers (even if itd be a better idea to kill the interceptors like with marines) anyway so marauders should be fine if the ratio's fair

The photon cannons had the number advantage for most of the round, they would’ve won if not for their clunky grouping.

If you watch carefully, the dragoons had 0 upgrades. And photon canons only scale a bit with shields. It would have been an overwhelming victory for the dragoons if they were upgraded.

I mean to be fair that's pretty good for the dragoons. Being as strong as a photon cannon while moving, and that's before attack and armor upgrades that cannons don't get.

Ok, this is gonna sound crazy, but if we have these 2 battle groups go at it, why not have a Three Army Royal like in The Hobbit? The Protoss are the elves, the Terrans are the dwarves, and the Zerg are the orcs for a massive frag-all drag-out brawl!

Hey, for some reasons those dragoons without any tech upgrade have Trillic Compression Systems effect (shield regen during combat), so this could be a bit misleading for the result:

Considering that there were about even, it means that the dragoons are actually better. Because they get damage upgrades, where the cannons get nothing. As a defense measure though, the cannons actually win because they are detectors and get the benefit of not costing any vespene.

Another benefit: you don't have to spend half the game and around 1000/1000 to upgrade them for Cannons to be good! also Dragoons suck against Zergles or Marines even more than Cannons, so, they've got that going for them as well

some of the units just aren't using the best strategy. Whirlwind Zealot has no collision detection when they whirlwind, so they should just go deeper into the marine ball to maximize their AOE damage, rather than staying on the edge of it. Slayer has no range advantage over the immortal, their "blinking back" move serves nothing but waste their precious invulnerability time provided by their phase armor ability. A better move would be to blink right into the immortals to minimize projectile flight time.

if memory serves, photon cannons shoot faster, farther (at first) and their damage is the same to all units, whereas dragoons are mobile and weapon/armor upgradeable, but will still suck against say zerglings

One thing that Photon Cannons have an edge against the Dragoons, THEY ARE DETECTORS! 3 things Dragoons are not mobile Photon cannons and is better than cannons, they can move have an attack and shield upgrade and their firing range is longer.

I've always thought of cannons as stationary Dragoons since they share the same attack animation in SC1. Alarak is OP, not new. Was honestly expecting spin Zealots to win, but elite marines are too beefy to go down that quickly.
