BRIGHT SIDE

You use it every day but it was hiding a secret purpose all this time! Take a look at your keyboard: why do letters F and J have those ridges? And did you notice that each time you make an omelette, there're strange red spots in eggs after you crack them? Common objects have hidden purposes you never knew about until now. It's time to reveal them!

Okay, but that doesn't explain why it was called a fruit loop. Also, mating rituals in the '50s and '60s are insane. Like Betty Jean likes Bobby Ray 'cause she blinked twice, spun 2 times counterclockwise and farted to the left. Had she farted to the righy, it means you're friendzoned.

The little holes in aircraft windows have nothing to do with regulating the pressure in the cabin or allowing aircraft to fly high up in the sky. The outer window panes are robust and allow the aircraft to be pressurized so people don't get hypoxia and pass out. The inner pane is plastic. Its main purpose is to prevent passengers from scratching and damaging the critical outer panes. They also provide a slight insulation barrier by trapping air between it and the cold outer panes. The little hole is there to allow the air between the panes to balance with the changing pressure inside the cabin during climbs and descents.

The rear-view mirror tip is wrong. It's just the opposite. The tab is pushed forward toward the windshield for Daytime use and pulled backwards away from the windshield for Nighttime use. Another thing is when adjusting the mirror, always set it to Daytime before adjusting it, even if you're adjusting it at night. In that case set the mirror to nighttime after making the adjustment. If you were to adjust the mirror the opposite way as described in the video, it won't keep an accurate adjustment when you change between day and night settings. Interestingly, later in the video the go over the rear-view mirror again and that time they got it right.

When I read your comment, I had to stop and think for a few minutes to figure out which way was which! Lol. Interestingly enough, a lot of people don't know how that feature of the rear-view mirror works, or that there is more than one layer on the piece of equipment than just the mirror. A layer of glass is also part of the makeup and between the mirror and glass, moving that little tab changes the angle of the reflection coming into the vehicle. Another random fact for the fans! lol.
@RWBHere
@RWBHere 5 ай бұрын
Back in 1981 my driver taught me about that in my first driving lesson. Many people simply forget it because of sensory overload during those early lessons. My latest car doesn't have the tab. Instead, the mirror is photochromic (or a similar word), which makes it adjust automatically, dimming bright light reflections at night.

The bump under the F key (and the J key) is for typing then moving your hands off the keys, then typing again without having to look at the keyboard.

As a touch typer myself, they are extremely useful when typing large quantities of text. The bumps under F and J are used to put your index fingers on the two keys and then you can easily identify where each letter on the keyboard is.

So does a compass point true north or south north? My brain still on overdrive making sense after 7 times rewinding it and listening to it again and again
@clarencegreen3071
@clarencegreen3071 2 жыл бұрын
Opposite magnetic poles attract; like poles repel. So the magnetic pole of the northern hemisphere must actually be a south magnetic pole in order for the north pole of a magnet or compass needle to be attracted to it. The northern magnetic pole (actually a S pole) is located some 500 km or 300 miles from the geographic pole. This gives rise to the distinction between true north (geographic) and magnetic north. Google is your friend.
@k2cowgirlup407
@k2cowgirlup407 Жыл бұрын
Just ignore it. A compass points magnetic north, which is a relatively useless fact anyway since magnetic and true north are so close. I've done some research on how Earth's magnetic field works, and his explanation makes no sense. The only way I can find that it would, is if the north and south each had 2 magnetic poles. Which they don't, so...

@dianaosteen693

How does anyone know for sure that the inventor of the compass needle didn't use the opposite end for pointing North and just call it N to signify North Pole? That explanation would make more sense to me than calling the North Pole the Magnetic South Pole. Since the earth is tilted off axis how many people need to travel by Geographic or Magnetic North anyway? I always thought that the only purpose for using A compass was to have a consistent reading by which to measure your direction against.

The F and J keys are sometimes referred to as the 'Homing' keys, which is why they get marked. The laptop I'm typing this on actually has a similar marking on the W key, which is used for playing video games. For a PC gamer, WASD are normally used in place of the arrow keys for movement, since the right hand, which would normally use said arrow keys, is instead usually occupied with the mouse.
