But more importantly if I can find ammo..im limited to how much they will sell me..my gun uses 5.56 mm...it was about $21.00 a box..they wouldn't sell it to me unless I had to use up some of that ammunition on the range..so when I go..im only there for about 15 minutes..the last 2x there was hardly any ammo..

I really wanted to get this type of gun, but unfortunately, the Canadian dictatorship has now banned us from purchasing any hand gun. And now they're going after a whole bunch more guns, including ones specifically designed for hunting. Our government makes me sick!

I own the 500 S&W magnum X-frame with a 6.5 semi-lug barrel. Balances well in the hand. Ported on each side of the front sight. Love it so much!!!

I bought one when they 1st came out, they all came with 2 compensators 1 for FMJ the other 4 lead head, after all these years I find it to be more of a novelty than anything, a novelty that's a lot of fun!

The 500 that comes with 2 comps is the later model. The one in the video is the original model that was released in 2003 at the Shot Show.

Interesting. Jeff Quinn from Gun Blast, posted photos on his website from Shot Show 2003, and you can see the 500 model# 163500. I guess Smith first sold them with the comps, and then without, and back to ones with comps. Do you still have your 500?

@@quentinturnage7252 Yes I do, But I did not notice one of the compensators was missing then was missing until the following day when I read the owner's manually thoroughly I then contacted Smith and Wesson they overnighted me the 2nd compensator.

Unfortunately, if BATFE ever approves a 50 BMG handgun, most 50 BMG ammo will be banned for sale by FFLs, because it will be classified as armor piercing handgun ammunition.

If you get your hands on the Performance Center model, either in 7.5 inch or 10.5 inch barrel, it has a built in muzzle brake (non-removeable), tuned trigger which I hear the function rivals that of the Colt Python and a rail attachment for a scope or red dot. They tame the beast down enough to make it more enjoyable, especially during a range day.

I just bought myself that same gun today. Certainly more of a novelty firearm to own, but its still an amazing weapon. Definitely agree with your assessment that its the Barrett of handguns, which is pretty much why I got it. Almost got the BFR in 45-70 but there's something about having a .50 cal for the ego.

The look of that revolver is perfect. The slits after the front sight and not on the sides looks so much better in my opinion. A fluteless cylinder would be nice too.

Agree about not being a first time shooter's gun. BUT for me, I got a 45 Colt Revolver a year in to owning guns at 32 (grew up in Chicago, and our family was good law abiding citizens, so no guns growing up), two years after moving to the south (MS), started getting guns. Started out seeing how the process worked, to now, well made up for lost time and then some. BUT I did get a 45 Raging Judge, since I needed to experience a more extreme caliber than the 9mm or 556 I was shooting. Yes 556 is more power, but it's in a much larger weapon. THOUGH after experiencing the 45LC, it made me less afraid of my 9mms and then got me into 10mm and 45ACP. Also, turns out while yes the 45LC is powerful, it's not that scary. My shockwaves are more violent and I love them. So, I did buy the 500 to see how that would be, seems scary, but knowing enough about guns went with an 8.375in barrel with compensator. And having fired the 50AE Desert Eagle, whole magazine, can't imagine the 500 is that much more powerful.
