My first Slater/DE video, its a good intro to what a DE was. A lot of ships were transferred to the allied navies after the war to help rebuild fleets fast, especially in situations like Greece where they were overrun by Germany/Italy and any ships that could not get out in time were assimilated into the Kriegsmarine or the Regia Marina or those ship that got out only to later be sunk in combat and the USN had ships to spare after the war.

@@DeathToTyrants24 I'm a little confused as to why you have a problem with that. Also why did you feel it was necessary to comment on something that was a month old.

It's awesome that the big generator engines run but I'd love to see and here one of the main engines up and running. I know it would be a crazy effort to do it but it would just add to the ship

The last estimates to get SLATER underway under her own power were around 15 million.

@@USSSlater that's very interesting! The idea of a museum ship that could go to different harbors could be really fun.

@@USSSlater thanks Wonder if the National Destroyer Escort Museum would launch an fundraiser to raise funds to accomplish this purpose or not?
