$500 Voigtlander 35mm “Summilux” VS $5000 Leica 35mm Summilux

Both lenses are my personal lenses, which I have used for a couple years. And they are all in like new condition, and when I took the pictures, I also removed UV filters, to maximize the accuracy of colors in the pictures.
However the distortion of VM lens really disappointed me when I directly compared these to lenses. Which I didn’t really notice before.

Thank you. This is the comparison that I was looking for. I'm not sure the difference is that obvious with the resolution of youtube videos. It would be great to show more pictures where the difference might be more clear.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I will create a acct somewhere to post the comparison pictures in the future. The distortion of VM 35 1.4 is actually very noticeable when I directly compare the pictures. Thanks a lot

Lightroom has good correction software for distortion

I shoot only film Leicas. I have the voigtlander 35 and was thinking of upgrading to the latest 35 summilux. But because I only shoot film, would you recommend it?

Hello there. If you are only shooting film, and wants an upgrade, you can also consider about the leica Summilux 35mm v2, this 70s lens’s distortion control is already way better than Voigtlander, and early Canadian version is much more accessible than the later v2 German examples. The current Summilux FLE is more suitable for digital cameras, and in my view, it is too sharp for vintage film look. But it is the best 35mm Summilux ever. Comparing these lenses against each other is just plain stupid! They are both so very different, they are chalk and cheese! The Voigtlander is not perfect, it's not meant to be! It has imperfections, ones you are meant to embrace! The Leica is the perfect lens for perfect people who want everything perfect... which is just plain dull and anal. Technology will not save you.. and after all: “Everything in photography boils down to what’s sharp and what’s fuzzy” Roswell Angier..
