Modern heritage architectural marvel in Pune designed in traditional Rajasthani style architecture using stonework, intricate carving and hand-painting.
One of our best works since our firm's incorporation around 25 years ago, this Palace designed by us has been featured in many Marathi and Bollywood films including 'Dabangg 3' & 'Gori Tere Pyaar Me'. This project was designed by us around 10 years ago and has now become a landmark around Pune.
This magnificent Palace, sprawling across 50,000 square feet is built on a 7 acre piece of land located in Khanapur, near Sinhagad. Sitting on top of a hillock, it has a splendid 180 degree panoramic view of the Sinhagad fort as well as the backwater of Khadakwasla dam. Projects like these are golden opportunities for architects as they get a free-hand in designing and imagining their best version of a structure. So this palace, although completed 10 years ago, holds a special place in our portfolio. The majestic grandeur of the entrance and use of traditional Rajasthani architectural features like jalis, zarokhas, domes, chhatris, brackets and arches is a typical Rajasthani architectural concept. A huge decorative entrance gate takes us to the palace through a small but a royal journey. Internal roads take turns through the landscape to reach the higher contour, where one has to cross a Durga Goddess temple which is the private property of our client. A decorative paved driveway takes us to the double height massive porch with a balcony, which portrays sheer imposing grandeur with typical Rajasthani design elements and carvings hand-crafted by the skilled artisans of Rajasthan. A huge, circular lush green lawn provides a royal appeal to the palace. Elegantly carved pink sandstone has been used to achieve the perfect Rajasthani atmosphere. Semicircular entrance foyer is ornamented with beautiful arches hand-carved by skilled Rajasthani artisans.
A huge wooden door flanked by stone-carved elephants welcome guests in a traditional way. As we enter the grand 1600 square feet living room, its 45 feet height covered by RCC dome provides a sense of space like nothing else. The living room boasts of an artistically hand painted ceiling dome of 40” diameter. Interiors are highlighted by different types of jali work which is decorated with embedded Belgian glass. Use of Jaisalmer stone and Italian marble is predominant in the interiors. Living area is ornamented with two symmetric decorative staircases which have remarkably beautiful hand-painted soffits. Ornate and nicely carved railings of first floor passage-way are supported with hand-carved columns and Mayur arches. Two symmetrically Zarokhas on either side of the elevator overlook the passage. Coming to the luxurious master bedroom, one feels wrapped in luxury. Dark upholstery and decorative golden work over the furniture multiplies the luxury quotient. The ceiling and all the walls are clad with decorative hand paintings against Italian marble flooring with inlay work. All bedrooms have Zarokhas, which displays a typically Rajasthani architectural element. The dining room has extravagant, royal furniture and a hand-painted ceiling. Decoration of silver and golden work, embossing and engraving has been done to get extravagant royal interiors. The exterior elements of Rajasthani architecture merge seamlessly into the interiors.
