IDK why KZfaq recommended this to me, but this is some insane gameplay! I couldn't do that without the barbell! Keep doing what you're doing!

Thanks man, and I sure intend to keep doing it as long as life allows 😁. It's truly been a blessing to be able to exercise like this, at home, and in such a fun way. And thanks for the encouraging words! Glad you stumbled in! 😀🙏

I've been playing DDR for over 23 years and I always thought holding the bar the whole time while playing was extremely lame and pathetic... ...until I watched this video. Major respect.

Just when I thought that DDR was just fast twitch calves and quads, this guy decides to throw lats, delts, and biceps into the mix! I was kinda disappointed that it wasn't a complete OHP but, given the difficulty of play DDR above a certain level no bar, I'd be afraid to play with a barbell over my head. Props for this and giving a meaning of playing with the bar.

Holy shit dude, this is legitimately the most impressive feat I've seen in DDR over the past 20 years!!! I remember barely being able to AA this back in the day, and here you are showing up kid me lol. Major kudos, man!!

Meanwhile I'm just glad doing all this weird stuff with DDR has also coincided with my chronic back issues and pain having gone away 🙂. No seriously though, DDR has been the best thing ever in terms of a physical therapy regimen for all my pain issues as I've gotten older ❤️

@@i5lee8bit that's wild; I've had back pain issues since my 20s. The joys of getting older lol. Glad to hear you're healthier now though! Sounds like all the more reason for me to get back into it 🤔

@@yarukineez0 joys of getting older indeed lol. Yeah man I dunno, something about DDR specifically, from a PT (physical therapy) perspective, it seems like such a great activity especially for my particular issues. It's been a literal Godsend! I hope it helps you as much as it's done for me with your back pain issues!!

Hah thanks, can't believe how my "shoulder stamina" has increased in the last month... 😂 Like a month or 2 ago, it was such a chore just to AAA Let's Groove and Last Message with the "overhead" grip!

@Isaac lee you are so Built man may I ask what 3 muscle exercises help the most with your legs and playing DDR In your opinion?
@i5lee8bit6 ай бұрын
Hey man, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I tried like a week ago but YT crashed in the middle of it and I just never got back to it.. crazy season of life as it is, ya know? Haha, anyway thanks for the compliment man. Answer (imo) to your question isn't quite as straightforward as I'd hope unfortunately! So a lot to your question (again, imo) depends on playstyle, i.e. bar or no bar. If you mainly use the bar, I'm not sure focusing on strengthening legs will do all that much to help. It's more of a balance of arm stamina plus the usual cardio (including legs I suppose) stamina. Seeing as how I'm almost exclusively a no-bar player (except when playing 10's), and of course do my weighted challenges and stuff, there's much more nuance to leg strengthening to play better compared to if I were using the bar. The other factor of playstyle would be whether you play flat-footed (heel/toe) or do the tip-toe thing. Most people do flat footed these days, and there's much more on your quads than your calves. Overall, squats in general are a great exercise for overall health and strength conditioning! In general just a fantastic and beneficial exercise. Unless you're trying to build muscle and get jacked, you really don't even need to do weighted squats just for helping with playing DDR. In fact, I think there's a point where gaining more muscle might make DDR harder, since you'll add more weight = less stamina to an extent. Of course I'm talking about when you get into the realm of bodybuilding and stuff. For example, I'm 6'3" and 240 lbs. DDR would be WAAAAY easier for me if I slimmed down and lost 60-80 lbs - but that just isn't within my fitness goals, and I like maintaining my strength levels 🙂. But anyway, squats (and research proper form and technique) can certainly help. Besides that - and again, being a no-bar player, I find it beneficial to just play DDR with added weights. You could even try ankle weights (I personally never tried) or using a weight vest. Most likely if you play that way for a while, you'll find it much easier after you drop back to normal weight. I guess calf raises could help, but again, unless you're playing tip toe style, I doubt it'll help THAT much. I say squats and deadlifts (not even at very high weights) could be beneficial in building leg strength (and core strength) and helping with DDR - but these 2 exercises are such powerful compound exercises to begin with, I think they're great to do regardless of whether you're trying to improve at DDR or not! Sorry if I didn't really directly answer your question. I actually really never gave it any thought before, haha, and I feel like my answer just ended up being very general fitness advice (though still, any gym guy would tell you how important squats and deadlifts are!)
