Cllr. Kieran McCarthy, Independent Councillor, Cork City Council, and local Cork people remember the 50th anniversary of the visit to Cork by US president John F. Kennedy.
On Friday 28 June 2013, Cllr. Kieran McCarthy, Cork City Council, gave a tour of Cork Docklands leaving from Kennedy Park (free). The tour marked the visit, fifty years ago to Cork, by US President John F Kennedy. On 28 June 1963, he spent the morning in Cork where he received the Freedom of the City. He later left the city by helicopter from Monahan Road and from what in time became known as Kennedy Park.
