I push started a 66 for a year, drove to St.Louis from Illinois everyday with one break using hand break. converted to 12 volt, replaced all lamps. What ever burnt out I replaced it. I loved that freaking car. Many stories, great times.

Without reading your title, I clicked watch, and a '64!!!! My Father left me his '64, just before he passed away from Cancer in '98. It was the 1st time that Him and I worked together as Father and Son. He was close, but the love of the Bug brought us closer. I still have it, but not running since '03. These video captures are just what I need to get it back on the street. Thank You!

OMG…I was checking our KZfaq and saw the VW Bug and I had to see what you were doing! My first car was a 1967 VW Beetle she was savanna beige and I bought her in August. Same bumpers, I bought her new and called her “Jesse”. I had so much fun in my senior year with that wonderful car! Scraping the inside frost off as I drove because no warm air blew up on the front window. I put flower decals on my Bug and could get 5 of us in the car. The sound of the engine brought back so many memories. Years later I sold her and bought a new super beetle. Had that cater for many years too. I could go through so much snow it was amazing. I got to work when others couldn’t and I lived in the country. I am now 72 and would love to have a Bug again. For awhile after our children were grown I bought a red one but my shoulder hurt so much from working I couldn’t drive it due to the pain….I was a dairy farm girl and could drive anything by age of 10 that had four tires and a steering wheel 🤣. I also had a mode of transportation when I was 12, a black mare that was my best friend. Loved horses…I will be waiting for updates on you ‘64 Bug! What fun watching you, I laughed the entire time. Thanks for the memories!❤️😜🚘

They always start Jason, I always used a 12volt battery to give the kick, just disconnected the wires at the generator and did a work around on the starter solenoid. And they always started. Happy 2022 mate.

Nice work gentlemen. It always feels good to hear them run again after that long slumber. I think my 66 had not run since the late 90's, and it sounds much like your 64. Not perfect, but good enough to keep going. Now dig that mouse nest out of the shrouds and make it a driver. That's my next step, too.
