I’m very happy that I have found your challenge Peter! I’ve only been shooting for 2 1/2 years and probably a “low-end” intermediate, meaning I’m shooting on manual, but there is a huge world of knowledge out there for me to encompass. I’ll try like crazy to shoot an image good enough to post, and I’ll try not to feel too intimidated. I’m looking forward to seeing many beautiful images that will catapult my learning experience. Terrific idea Peter! I've been involved in 365 image type challenges in the past but 52 assignments is less demanding of our time and thereby allows scope for a bit more thought, which can only help with the aim of improving our photography. Many thanks for the hard work you've put into this.

52 images is a lot easier than 365. That is why the 52 was chosen. Also it is easier to handle the flow of images.

@@ForsgardPeter I've done both 365 and 52 challenges in the past but found a mix of the two was a much easier way to go when it came to the 365 challenge. Having 52 set topics/subjects to do as 7 days of each topic took some of the pressure off the 365 challenge. On really busy days when I was juggling young children and other things, trying to switch my brain into creative mode was hard. There were too many options and I struggled to choose a subject. Decision overload I guess. Having 7 days of the same topic and knowing what the next topics would be freed up my mind to find the best subjects for those topics. Sometimes too much freedom is more stifling than having a few rules.

Hi Peter🌻, I really liked the idea about the assignments 👏. Unfortunately, I don't have a Facebook account to join the group☺️. But I created one assignment for myself today😉. The assignment was to make a photo of the 14-foot tall inflatable Santas 🎅and other inflatable Christmas 🎄related characters found in the neighbourhood. It was a lot of fun. Thanks so much for planting the seed 🌱 on me. Wishing you a peacful last week of 2021 and a wonderful start of 2022.💚📸💚

I've never taken part in a photography assignment, except in my college photography classes. I am motivated by my creativity and clients! But for those who take part in this or others, I wish you luck and fun!

A plea to all to take their best images and put them in a book . This could be for each month , season or for the entire year …whatever fits affordability . Then looking back later it will be filled with a load of wonderful and inspirational ideas for future occasions at a later date. Like writing a book, start with the idea and then create a few sub headings that can be a guide to the tale itself. Once you start writing (taking pics) ideas will create their own momentum …. Just try it and you will find out. With pics it is about working the scene and being rustless in ditching those images don’t work . You can always post your favourites online , but there is nothing that substitutes seeing photo in your hand, whether in a frame or a book . I will also take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a fruitful and creative new year with all your endeavours - photographic or other ways that stimulates your creative powers . That was a wonderful video Peter and full of inspirational ideas to fuel our imaginations . Thank you .

Off the wall question Peter - did you use a star filter for the image at 6':56", use something fancy in Photoshop or simply stop down to get a narrow aperture? Thank you - great content.

It is a good idea to explore other genres too. That might give you some ideas for your butterfly and small animal images. Try to implement some of your subjects to your genre.

Finally someone will make me go out and shoot. (I know myself). But, in order to spice it up, I will try and shoot all 52 assignments with just one lens- 50mm F1.4, how about that?.

It is a great idea to shoot with just one lens. There is a wide angle assignment but other than that one lens is most likely all you need.

Sorry to look ahead, but what is the difference between the July and December “street photography” assignments? Or is the idea to just do the same assignment differently? Thanks for a great project!

No problem. The July is supposed to be a classical street photograph. In December we take a bit wider perspective to street photography.

Thanks for a great idea and for your work. I would love to participate but I don't have Facebook and don't ever want to be present there, nor do I have Instagram (in consideration). I have a Flickr account, though. How can I send you images? Someone here suggested sending them via KZfaq. Would that be possible and how does it work?

Via Tube? I do not know how. I will have a monthly Live Stream about the images. There is a chance to send one for possible feedback. Instructions about that closer to the Live Stream.

I might be missing something, but following the "Get the list" link, you mention that there is a pdf and an .ics file but I can't find links to either at that page. I also looked around the other pages without finding it.

Was looking forward to trying assignments. Sadly subscription failed-tried several times. Not receiving any emails. Oh well. Having seen the submissions for the first assignment, I can already see my own photography is nowhere near the standard of what it should be anyway. Good luck to all who are able to continue through the year and enjoy. Apologies for sending a photo taken with a Panasonic camera in error and wasting your time. Just delete it thank you.

Sorry to hear that there was something wrong with the subscibtion. Do you mena the email or the calendar feed? No problem with using Panasonic. This is not a camera specific thing. Any camera is ok. A great idea but a word of warning if your facebook account is hacked you will get zero help from facebook, apart from my name everything was changed to lock me out, I certainly have no intention of creating a new account the only option
